Growth

Once upon a time I roleplayed a dryad called Halava. She was a lithe little thing, recently re-emerged from her sanctuary tree, fully recovered from the catastrophic wounds of the past but still young as dryads go. She wore a skin from Fallen Gods Inc. and very little else, so when the new tone of Crystals appeared in Skin Fair, I knew Halava would grow up.

More magic-infused than her younger self, she glows of the regenerative powers coursing ever so slowly through the veins that would bleed sap instead of blood. Her resemblance has turned more human due to spending more time with these brief-lived, rushing, nonsensical  creatures.

Experience comes slow to tree dryads as they take their time to observe and consider, not unlike the ents of other myths. Her younger self was oblivious to humanoid cultures beyond ancient mythical Greek ones and considered everything she witnessed with non-judgmental eyes, accepting everything as equally strange and normal part of the human behaviour. Given enough years she would have matured and formed opinions on what is good for growth and what unnaturally detrimental.

I would like to think that despite gaining more experience, more maturity, she would have kept her simple view on life, innocence and acceptance. Nurturing growth and avoiding the rot, as trees do.

The musk tone of Crystal line is currently available in the Skin Fair and they come in both female and male versions, as usual. The only decoration a dryad needs is actually a fascinator by Zibska, a part of the set available in L’Accessoires. The Victoria hairstyle by Alice Project is one of her new releases and it is tinted with the new anime hair colour HUD that is available in the Anime Hunt 2.

Elyria and Explosion

Elyria is the name of this bodysuit set by Pale Empress: it’s slinky, shiny and sensually shaded. Obviously it could be a lingerie set, but when I saw the shading my mind went immediately to alien places and cyber-adventures.

The explosion part is actually from a skybox by Garden of Dreams. They’ve released several new mesh skyboxes in Showcase line, mainly meant for variously coloured, lit and built picture settings.

The alien adventuress is a mix of Beautiful Freak, Pin Me Down and Fallen Gods Inc. painted on the golden canvas of Glam Affair. The cyberlox are a hunt prize by Alice Project, available in the Sinister Goth Hunt.

To launch a thousand spaceships, all you need is a sublime shading in your bodysuit. Now there just needs to be a futuristic version of the walls of Troy to gaze over…

Zodiac: Aquarius

Aquarians are famous for their humanitarian interests, open-minded intelligence and idealism. Being an air sign they love to communicate their ideas and talk, being more concentrated on intellectual level than emotional one.

There’s a quirky, almost strange quality to the Aquarians that often comes with an excellent sense of humor. They are extremely opinionated and not afraid to express those opinions. They are always exactly who they are and don’t change for anyone or anything. They appreciate originality and indulge in moments of rebellion.

The overall friendliness and caring for the world comes with a peculiar emotional detachment. Regardless, once committed to a relationship they are extremely loyal to their partner whom they consider to be their best friend as well as lover.

Aquarius is an interesting mix of near-futuristic visions, world-encompassing ideals and eccentric intelligence.

Festive Liaisons

Because they make the festivities all the better, right? The egg on the background is called Liaisons Dangerouses and all the three letters — two on the table, one inside the egg —  contain a quote from the book. It and plenty of other festive things I’m about to show are by ~Libertine~ and can be found in the Midwinter Fair.
The wreath and the set of armlets and anklets (with a necklace I didn’t use for these pictures) are by Trident from the same fair. All the curlique shapes simply went together too well not to combine. The fair has also a hunt going on and the festive pendant I’m wearing can be found in it.The festive balls — and the pendant for the hunt — are also by ~Libertine~ and can be found in the fair. The table with all of them on display is for sale separately, where as the transferable balls are for sale under the big tree in the fair. They are fully modifiable and can be shrunk down to earring-size, as I just did here. As for the outfit, it’s by SAKIDE and it’s actually called Vintage Glam Dress, although to me it felt more appropriate as a set of lingerie. It’s available in Frost Winter Fashion Fair. Even the *~ by Nacht bed from Gothmas by Gaslight continued the curlique leaf motif, so I couldn’t resist it. The surroundings are a Roman bath dream scene by Garden of Dreams because the wreath somehow simply called for it.

Dusty Snow Bunnies

Or snowy dust bunnies, whichever way you want to turn it. More specifically, the Dust Bunnies Special Treasure necklace from Pididdle’s gacha in The Arcade. So aptly named. League’s Vintage Reindeer earmuffs can be won from the same place.

The snowflakes are a part of the Winter makeup by Pin Me Down and the Rashmi ring in silver is a new release by Bilo, both wonderfully fitting in the wintry areas of Happy Mood. Obviously I had to wander around not just for the pretty trees and glowing flowers, but especially the wondrous Bunny Theater of Awesome. I was glad to find it still in place.

The First Frost outfit is SAKIDE’s prize in the With Love <3 Hunt. The shirt is a system layer, the attachments for it re-sizeable and the lovely little mini-skirt rigged mesh. All the poses are from Exposeur’s advent calendar.

The wonderfully buttoned-up boots by Schadenfreude are available in Collabor88 and they were so completely me that I had to have them all. Heels, thigh-high and buttons, all with colour-change possibilities. Completely love at first sight.

52 Colours: Gold

I was really tempted to go pure gold for this, but realized I had done that not so long ago so poked at my inventory until I found an alternative look. I don’t really know where this modern blonde half-drow girl came from, but she definitely has the dark elf attitude mastered. The Femme Fatale dress by Perception had not only the right colour, but plenty of attitude to slink about in the shadows with. The poses with cell phones are by aDORKable Poses from With Love <3 Hunt and they somehow nailed the modern ‘run things with a cell phone’ vibe for Miss Gold. The Alexis hairstyle by Alice Project is currently available in FaMESHed. I also had to add a lot of jewelry since surely it would be no proper post about gold without piles of chains all around. The necklaces are by Maxi Gossamer from With Love <3 Hunt and the wonderful Kelpie’s Bridle by Evie’s Closet is from the current round of Zodiac. The skin is one of The Arcade gacha ones by Glam Affair, there’s in total three that work for dark elves, which is always a happy-happy-joy-joy thing.

52 Colours: Cotton Candy

I managed to avoid the first idea of something super cutesy, actual cotton candy and silliness overboard and instead almost took the colour seriously. What? You know I have issues with pink. The skin is Pink Fuel’s prize in the With Love <3 Hunt that just started. The vanilla pudding colouring of Wasabi Pills’ Kylee hair was just out in the 50L Fridays and the wreath is the latest group gift by World’s End Garden. It’s in the celebration of renewing the sim and I took the pictures in the new landing area just for that. The Society dress by Volstead was the exact cotton candy tone and worked perfectly for the whole rose-filled scenery. Speaking of, the fading and rose layers and such are all from in-world, I liked the effect of shooting through them.

Enchanted Frost

“Frost’s daughters are dancing.” My mother used to say that when the temperature reached the levels where snow is covered with countless sparkling little stars. That’s still the image in my head every time, every winter. It’s December now, the snow has not only fallen but blown in and therefore I had to welcome it with one of the said daughters.

Almost everything in the post is from MadPea’s latest hunt: Enchanted Frost. Their hunts are my favourites due to the excellent storytelling involved. It’s not just finding hidden items, it’s an experience. This one sends you to find the fifteen lost memories of the captured Princess Enid and then make your way through the maze to bring back the summer and to claim all the prizes in the end.

The frosted faun antlers by Vita’s Boudoir make me think of snow queens of less compassionate nature, but that is winter for you. Beautiful and lethal. At least this particular fairy allows birdies to rest on the antlers. The ice elf eyes and the frost half-body tattoo by Fallen Gods Inc. are from the hunt as well, but the matching ice crystal skin, wings and the curlique hip attachment are not hunt prizes, the frost’s daughter simply needed them.

The scene is mixed from the prizes of Roawenwood, Trident and Les Sucreries de Fairy. The harp is playable, even when the fairy seems too blue to try. If you feel like getting into the wintry spirit, you can begin your adventure here.

The Cottage that Culprit Built…

…and Ely decorated. As most of you might know, I tend to skip to Ely’s sim to take pictures often. Her latest decoration project is a mesh cottage by Culprit, furnished pretty much completely with furniture from the same place.

If you want a closer peek at the cottage and furnishings, check out Ely’s blog post about it, she did a really amazing job at making it all warm and cosy before I arrived with my wintry windlights. If you’re familiar with Unhinged Festival, you might want to know that one of Culprit’s creative minds is Eku Zhong. <3

The Sister Death makeup by Fallen Gods Inc. is available in the Where is the Concert Hunt 2. Fallen for Five

Fallen Gods Inc. is celebrating the fifth year of filling the grid with fantasies. There’ll be a party on October 20th at  1 PM SLT and there’s a hunt going on, lasting until 21st.

The hunt focuses on dreams and comes with five prizes to find. You can find the hints on the small floating islands in front of the main temple and you have to be a member of the Fallens to get the prizes. The fifth and final prize is the Dreamers Nest: a floating island of your own with an Asian building on stilts, opening toward a pool with a gorgeous statue.

The Sandbringer tattoo is from the Tao-series, covering half of the body. It can be worn with any skin and I contrasted it with a light blue one here for extra dream surrealism. There’s also a dreamcatcher chest tattoo with feather piercings, loose mesh pants with a dreamcatcher matching belt and mechanical Morpheus’ and Niorun’s arms with glowing magic surrounding them for all the dreamshapers.

The Sari hair is by *Alice Project* and it’s available in Cinema in Action/Adventure section. It comes in two parts, the non-rigged braids are re-sizeable, the longer part is rigged as usual. I felt it worked for the dual personality of the character perfectly.
