Anais Wants Some Cake

I was cruel and didn’t rez any, but I kept thinking of Marie Antoinette throughout the shoot. Anais is actually a new hairstyle by Zibska: a huge updo that speaks of having nothing but time and servants to do your hair.

The Phoebe boots are by lassitude & ennui, classic lace-up boots that work for vintage autumn, steampunk or even delightful decadence like above. They’re at the moment available in L’accessoires event in several colours, each of the colours including a dark and light wood option for the soles and heels. I contemplated posing naked, but finding twisty enough poses to keep it only slightly indecent was too challenging. Fortunately I located this vamp corset by Sn@tch from my inventory for fitting cover!

The dominant over-the-board Vargas makeup is another new release by Zibska. The skin is one of Glam Affair’s gatcha ones in The Arcade, with an adorable baroque-vibed blush on otherwise practically white skin. The eyes by Insufferable Dastard and the snake ring by [HANDverk] are from the same event. The Stranglehold choker is by House of Rain and it’s available in the Zombie Cheerio Gacha here. It worked perfectly to turn the look from debaucherous to wicked.

I continued the wickedness with Corruption arm tattoos by Mabinogion, the temptations for more than cake traveling through her veins. To complete the scene I used the Darkness Lies Within bed by Malfean Visions. It’s from Twisted Hunt, in case you forgot it’s still going on!

52 Colours: Papaya Whip

Papaya whip is apparently the colour you get if mashed papayas are blended with whipped cream. It’s an extremely pale orange, for some screen settings it could be near white. For me this spelled either spring dresses or vintage lingerie. Guess which one I picked!

My Miss Papaya Whip turned into virtual cosplay. I knew I wanted period sheer fripperies with a corset, but by the time I was trying on blonde hairs I had a revelation: it was Agatha Heterodyne from Girl Genius! After I got over the squee-attack, I added steampunk spectacles by *Amaranthus* (old hunt gift) and LoveBug necklace by Maxi Gossamer from Collabor88 to maximize the effect. The extra goggles are by ezura from Steam the Hunt. It’s a well-known fact that you can never have too many goggles!

The necklace is of course a nod toward her trilobite locket, the symbol of House Heterodyne. None of the look is 100% match, but I think for cosplay it gets pretty close. The deliciously scandalous and indecent clothing by Sn@tch is referring to the times she only worked on inventions when sleepwalking and wandered around labs in her undergarments.

The surroundings are Ethercruiser by Urban Forge Virtuatecture. It’s their prize in the current Steam the Hunt and has several floors filled with awesome machinery, library, maps, control room and living space. The gadget she’s holding is from Twisted Hunt, The Fatal Familial Insomniac by [ContraptioN]. I must say that I’m not sure if she’s going to cure her own sleepwalking with it or test it on someone else first…

Captain Escargot

In case you haven’t realized yet: it’s Steam time! Steam the Hunt is going on again and you can find the shop slurls, hints and pictures of prizes here. The pocket watch is a prize by *Amaranthus* and is of course normally at the waist, like it should be.

Captain Escargot is named after my favourite prize of this round,  Escargot-a-vapeur by Sextan Shepherd. It’s one of the many prizes in a mini hunt at Joy of Steampunk Museum. This particularly fancy snail-mobile has plenty of living areas inside and is perfect for fashionably eccentric steam captains. If you like steampunk, but don’t have time for the whole hunt, this spot is what I recommend. It’s fun to explore and you can get the hunt gifts while oggling about.

The Time Watcher’s Gear (goggles and pack) is by [ContraptioN] and the Knight of Darkness outfit & hat are by RokumeikaN. The latter is a prize from Twisted Hunt, I just liked them together. Both hunts last for the whole of September, so there’s still plenty of time to cam about.

Now all we have to do is wonder what does a time watcher see through those goggles, while travelling around on a steam snail-mobile…

Tiny Twist

This year plenty of Twisted merchants have added in prizes for petites! The shops have marked these differently, usually have a petite trail sign and I believe the cubes for petites are within 20 meters instead of the 30 meters — mayhaps to accommodate smaller avatars. Ten meters is a long journey! Don’t be fooled by the cute, though… these are twisted petites, no matter how innocent and sympathy-inducing they might appear.

Here we have a seemingly innocent little petite girl cruelly captured in a cage with her obviously charming and good animal friends, right? You’d free her in a heartbeat without asking who put her there and why, I’m sure.

Maybe nothing strange would happen, she’d just lounge on the bed you thought was the captor’s, begin catching up with the latest fey-mail, not that she subscribes to the Malice Monthly or anything, of course…

I’m sure her animal friends hunt only canned tuna, too. Nothing strange and wicked going on in here, never!

The animal friends are all by The Booshies. The one that looks like a turtle is their prize in the Finding FabFree Hunt. All of them belong to the Lil’PetZ collection, shoulder and otherwise collectable pets. They are released in limited amounts in gatchas and I fear these two are already gone and new ones have replaced them, but since they are all no-copy, you can always try trading! There’s a forum thread for trading these little darlings, so you could always try your luck there!

Madame Guillotine

Only because “Their heads? Off with them.” felt slightly too long a title. Besides, Madame Guillotine is a perfect character to spawn from the current Twisted Hunt. She could easily be some sort of a spirit of the machine in a supernatural horror movie, hovering about and grinning as the blade keeps coming down, the last thing you’ll ever see.

The guillotine is by Culprit. It’s macabre, perfectly functional and morbidly hilarious at the same time with its leg twitching and kangaroo head in the bucket. The surroundings are the Church of Starry Wisdom by Souzou Eien, showing what happens to the heads afterwards: into the starry abyss gate of monsters!

The red vinyl dress by Sassy!, mesh eyes by -{The Attic}-, skin by Style by Kira and the chess board facial tattoo by Reila Skins are also from the hunt, but I did add a red lipstick by Izzie’s and blood tattoo layer by The Plastik to the mix. Boots, hair and poses are also not from the hunt.

Chalice

It’s actually called just Darkness wine glass, but it’s so pretty it deserved a fancier title. It’s the Twisted Hunt prize by The Fooding and it practically radiates dark promises and enchantments of any kind imaginable.

The chalice is set on the bloodied table of Dark Ritual Temple by Stone Misery and is at the moment longingly stared at by this soon-to-be-twisted blue faun by Aeva//Heartsick. She refused any clothing, but was happy to wear the delicately detailed As Darkness Falls necklace by House of Rain.

One sip should not harm much, right? If you want some, I’m sure she’ll share~

Blue Twist

September 1st starts off another round of Twisted Hunt, as is already traditional. The theme is darkness and the cubes are midnight blue, decoys are plentiful and torment levels high. There’s a whole month to lose your sanity while squinting and camming for the cubes, so take your time!

I don’t have magic powers or a TARDIS in my disposal, so obviously I’ve only scratched the surface of the hunt, but from what I have managed to find so far this outfit by Blue Blood is definitely among the favourites. I adore the frozen shadow style sleeves and collar and if I could get everything in that blue, I might even wear less black!

The skin, eyes and makeup are by [VoiD] and there’s also a mini-hunt for more colour options in the shop. I also added a Possession body tattoo by Hysteria under the outfit, although only some outreaching shadow tendrils are visible. I’ll have to use it again later, because it’s really appropriate for this theme.

The hoofies are from Dilly Dolls and the setting is the Midnight Cavern by Urban Forge. It’s a cave dwelling with three floors, a pool, optional fire and secret door to the lowest level.

The Last Twist

I promise! March and September are always such busy blogging time for me since Twisted Hunt always provides so many fantasy looks. This time I absolutely had to find an excuse to show off this armor by gilded.

I paired it with hooves from Aftershok and skin by Sn@tch to complete the not-quite-human arcane priestess look. The claws by Virtual Insanity crowned the wickedness.

Another reason I love to blog Twisted is that you get the scenery props and furniture for your character from the same hunt! All perfectly themed and colour-coordinated. This time I used mystical ruins by Howling Creations with an ouija-board by Dark 7.

I couldn’t resist playing with all sort of curliques and used one of Mockie’s white fantasy tattoos on the face and strange earrings reaching to the cheeks by Loulou&Co to finish the look. Neither of these is from the hunt, but just went well with it all.

Twisted Sacrifice

Why yes, yes this is yet another Twisted Hunt post. It’s not my fault there’s so much awesome arcane stuff! There was about gazillion drow skins, too, so of course I had to make at least one of those. This particular drow seems to be a mix between an assassin and a priestess, perhaps an unholy woman warrior of sorts…

The dragon with the ruins and hoard is by Curvasive Designs and was absolutely irresistible as a background setting. The outfit with a hood and mantle (and many other options not visible here) is by Dare Designs and worked oh so well with the skin and ears by The Little Bat. The tattoos are a part of the skin.

I added an altar by Roawenwood and a collection of obvious arcane substances by The Fooding to the setting, to appeal to the sacrificing priestess side of the drow. I couldn’t resist the dagger by Sacred Fantasy, though, so I let her play with sharp objects as well.

Disclaimer: no prim babies — two-headed monsters or otherwise — were harmed during these shoots, they’re just posing! This picture is actually for the Great SL Photo Hunt, number 37: you holding a prim baby. No one said how to hold it! I don’t know anyone with one, this is as close to one as Sonya will ever get and this little monster was a freebie in the Marketplace, so… tadah!

52 Colours: Aquamarine

Miss Aquamarine is conveniently a twisted djinni! Everything except the poses is from Twisted Hunt. Granted, the slightly more blue tone wasn’t quite the exact match for the colour sample, but I googled the RGB value for aquamarine and dyed the hair and staff with it. So much love for modable things. <3

I also had tons of fun with smudge stick filter. Smudge all the things! The avatar by Bad Juju had such a supernaturally dark skin that all you can see is eyes and lips, no matter the lighting, so I figured I could go all out without worrying about features not being clear.

The djinni part of the avatar, the lower body’s whirlings is by Weather or Not? and the staff is by Indigo Oddities. The cave with arcane markings is by Michigan’s Shack and I added even an extra arcane circle with candles on the floor from {oddment}.

Be careful what you summon, you never know if they feel like pretending to be controlled or not…
