Gothbrella

Never because of rain, rain can be good. Sun, however… hiss. Besides, there’s something appealing in sun parasols, twirling them about. Umbrellas are practical, usually pulled and pushed by the wind, but parasols have a dainty flair to them, almost a coquette vibe.

gothbrella1bsTherefore every gothic lolita outfit really does need a gothbrella, preferably with lace and spiderwebs and perhaps tiny delicate skulls attached. No such thing as practicality when you aim to look like a Victorianesque doll, an extremely dark one, and all the more alluring for it.

gothbrella2bsThere’s a gacha of gothbrellas by ~ *Souzou Eien* ~ in Cursed in World Goth Fair: both sims have a separate gacha area of convenience for just-take-my-money moments. The makeup and eyes by Beautiful Freak and the outfit by Adoness can be found in Cursed. The skin by Jalwa is located in Port Seraphine.

Lost in Caras Calar

It is what Titan’s Hollow in Fantasy Faire is really called: Caras Calar, a glowing filigree city of crystal and metal, suspended by chains in the air. In all its surreally luminescent beauty it felt like a place where lost dolls realize they are not in Kansas anymore. Or toy shop. Or whatever reality they might originally hail from.

lostdoll1csIt is a repeating theme in fantasy: finding yourself in another world. I believe it is at the very core of any fantasy fiction, whether you are simply introduced to this another realm or if you follow people moving from one plane to another, sharing their bewilderment and wonder as they explore a world they never knew existed.

titanshollowIt is very human to long for moments of surprise and awe, of amazement and enchantment. As our own world grows smaller in our minds, we escape to worlds that exist in only shared mindscapes of imagination, finding solace and excitement in them.

lostdoll2csTaking that one step to cross the borders of realms has never been as easy as it is this week: Fantasy Faire is open and it brings you ten new realms to explore, to take your breath away, to immerse in and admire. It’s all just one click away.

The gothic doll dress and jacket by lassitude & ennui, the Luxury of Tears jewelry by House of Rain and Jackal makeup by Beautiful Freak are all available in Crimson Fields. The little Toto-wannabe meeroo’s kin have settled in Lumenaria for the Faire.

Painting the Planes of Sanity

No, it does not make any sense. Very little of this post does, after all. Extremely Unhinged. The gacha festival has started out well and although we’ve gradually ceased dancing about and partying around the clock, there’s plenty of new parties planned for this week! Check the schedule out from here.

The palette and the brush are a part of HANDverk’s releases for November’s FaMESHed. The matching necklaces can be found in the current L’Accessoires. They’re perfect for any artist, sane or less so.

There’s the plane I was referring to! That and the other tiny flying vehicles are for the little skulprit avatars, available in Unhinged Festival. You can locate the bear, easel, plants-in-pants and most of the look from there as well.

Yes, those are tiny skulls hanging from the lashes. Naturally. The lashes, makeup, skin, two of the poses, outfit and the hat are all available in Unhinged. The hair by Alice Project is from Around the World, though. Needed a sleek hat hair for the top thing, after all.

52 Colours: Barley Corn

With a name like that, I had to find some fields for Miss Barley Corn to wander through. Quite far from any actual farmer, she’s more of a high class girl visiting summer mansion and play-pretending farm things. With cookies. Probably tiny star shaped sammiches and strawberries, too.

It’s all about the hat, as usual. This sun hat by G Field has been my favourite for a long time and you can probably find it in several blog posts in various colours. Long live colour change scripts!

The innocent radiance is a combination of Glam Affair skin and makeup by M.O.C.K. Cosmetics with another of my old favourites: summer wheat eyes by Poetic Colors.

The Bon Bon dress by Sn@tch formed the whole spirit of playful sophistication and conveniently matched the colour sample. The Steph hairstyle by Alice Project combines sweetness with relaxation, not a care in the world and all the time to flitter about smiling.

52 Colours: Persian Rose

Miss Persian Rose turned into a doll, in an actual literal doll box. You know me and colours courting pink: I cannot take them seriously, I have to go over the top with them. Fortunately I found this hair by Clawtooth from Hair Fair and simply went pink dolly to accompany it.

I got the dress by walking into Wretched Dollies just as the lucky board switched to S. It’s pretty much the perfect dolly dress and saved me so much trouble this week. I might have gone toward neon pinks otherwise, but this just amused me so much that I got all cutesy instead.

52 Colours: Rust

Miss Rust was originally meant to be a rusting robot of some sort, but since the colour is actually all perky near-orange instead of a darker rustier tone, I went with something cuter and just explored a slightly darker sim.

The sim is A Rusted Development and it’s both breathtaking and intriguing to explore. There’s surprises and walkways and hidden areas all around.

Miss Rust is accompanied by her pet urpy, one of the creatures by Booshies. This one is so friendly that it likes to curl around your shoulders and mimic a stole. Perfect solution: pet and fashion!

The lament for lack of robotics aside, the vibe of slight insanity accompanied by nostalgic tones of decaying machinery cityscape fit the character perfectly. Who knows why she dances, but dance she will~

Parasols and Corsets

I have a soft spot for both and they go together oh so well. This particular character began with a corset, got a burlesque twist of ruffles and stockings and lacey little tophat and when I added the parasol, I knew she needed a crazy updo and by the point her hair took a bunny shape I knew she had to be some sort of anime character. Yes, again.

She’s clearly one of those not too sane characters that dance on the edge of good and evil depending on their moods, whims and personal likes. They might save the hero because he’s cute, but they might torture him because it’s entertaining. Who knows! I went to the Epic Toy Factory to run around, because it was the only suitably colour-crazy and mix-match-fest of imagination place I could think of. It has become even more gorgeous since I last visited.

The Giselle jewelry set is by Maxi Gossamer and the sky-reaching eyeliner with additional row of dots for cuteness is by Pin Me Down, at the moment available only in Zombie Popcorn Carnival. The mesh corset that trains your ribs to stop being so rude and getting in the way is by *Perception* and boy does it do its job well! The pinstripe doll outfit is from the closing sale going on in Vanilla C Designs, as is the parasol with AO.

With the shopping instructions delivered, the anime princess shall depart the kingdom of magic toys and ignore the fact that she’s one, as well.

A Dolly Goes to the Fair

The World Goth Fair is almost here! The doors to the dark brilliance open on May 15th, but this little dolly snuck in early to play.

The dolly is wearing a dress, skin and eyes by The Little Bat. The skin is one of the fair exclusives and there are several colours of the dress available. There’s something very doll-like in the dresses — maybe it’s the silhouette, maybe the buttons, but I had no doubt in my mind that the character was one.

The Poisonous Friend jewelry set by House of Rain is absolutely gorgeous design in handily modifiable mesh, sure to fit even the petites! The extra eye liner is by Pin Me Down and their conveniently spider-matching lip squiggle can be found in the gatchas — if you’re lucky.

With just a few days left before the shopping can truly begin, there’s nothing else left to do for the dolly than to play with the ferris wheel, whee~ That said, I warmly recommend walking around and checking out the dark circus spreading out on two sims when you can. A definite moodsetter.

Early Shop Catches the Goth

So there I was, making creepy carnival characters for Bronxie when I got an urge to blog them, too. This is all about that urge. This is also all about why I was making the said looks. See, there will be World Goth Fair in May (15-31) and the sims are themed around dark carnival. The fair is about all things goth, not just carnival, but there was a need for creepy posters so I poked my inventory until these characters fell out.

This is obviously not any sort of official poster, just my own fiddling to have fun with the looks. For any official information, please keep an eye on the News from the Loft. As for the title of the post: I know this is too early a warning for shoppers, but this is prime time for the shops to sign up for the fair. The booths are running out fast, especially the bigger ones, so you might want to hurry! Your shop doesn’t have to be gothic to sign up, only the content you bring to the fair has to be appropriately dark. Oh, there’s also a related hunt for the whole of May and for that your shop should be gothic.

The poster is obviously photoshop filtered and since I was just having fun with character creation some items might not be available any more, but I’ll list the credits regardless.

52 Colours: St. Patrick’s Blue

With such a lovely, strong blue I went immediately back to my roots and dove into the Silent Sparrow folder. Miss St. Patrick’s Blue — boy is that a mouthful — turned out to be a mix of period classy with a touch of goth and steampunk. Just the way I like it.

I chose the setting from the numerous steampunk builds you can get from Steam Hunt. This one is a sub-house by Fort Weka. The parasol by Julia Collection is from the hunt as well. I have a definite weakness for parasols, they mix whimsy with class and are always fun.

I swear I’ve worn these Selene-boots by Lassitude & Ennui in every possible colour by now, but I can’t help it. They go with everything! All the things!

I also want to point out the breathtaking clockwork collar by Hebenon Vial. There’s a closing sale going on at the moment, so I’m warmly recommending visiting before it’s too late.
