Oopskate

Just when you thought you had participated in the most eccentric parties on the grid, along comes Oopskate! It’s a roller skating birthday party for Bronxelf’s RL cat, who might not know how to skate, but is gracious enough to offer all the proceeds to charity. Every year they pick another one and this year it is the American Porphyria Association.

To be specific, this is a goth/industrial/ebm roller skating party. It begins 10 PM SLT, Bronxelf will be DJing as is good and proper as the birthday kitty’s caretaker and the contest theme is Best in Orange/Purple. Either/or/both. The sponsoring shops have donated gift cards for the contest and have also party exclusive items for sale, the proceeds going to the charity. The shop list and more details can be found here.

I took the pictures well before anything was for sale, so it’s just fun with the theme colours for me. I knew that it was a good idea to buy that latex outfit from Sn@tch! My skates are an old hunt prize by +DV8+, but there’s free roller skates available in the party if you don’t own any.

52 Colours: Pistachio

Miss Pistachio was super fun to do! All thanks goes to Nicole Twigvald of Smileyorc fame, who sent her friends random orc skins with ‘Be an orc!’ message. So now I am! I can’t pull off her effortless elegance in a green skin, but I refused to go to stereotypical loincloth + bones category, either. Therefore Miss Pistachio is a post-apocalyptic skater orc!

The skater outfit is an old hunt gift by +DV8+. I’ve been meaning to bring up the fact that they are having a closing sale for a while now, and this was the perfect time for it. Truly post-apocalyptic, an end of an era, all that stuff.

The vehicle by Michigan’s Shack, hair by Discord Designs, eyes by Mayfly and lashes by Miamai are all from the Mesh Around hunt. Slurls, hints and preview pictures can be found here. The mesh seelie ears by *~*Illusions*~* are probably more meant for elves, but post-apocalyptic orcs can have as big-and-pretty ears as they want, says I.

Most other things are old subscribo gifts like the jewelry by Finesmith, old hunt gifts like the body tattoo by YaYo or old hunt props like the crowbar from ^Re.Birth^. I think the baseball bat with poses by Diesel Works is still out as a freebie, though. She had to have one, some sophistication in clubbing, see!

Back in Blurple

I have a feeling there’ll be more where this came from. *grins* I’ve made some progress with my Twisted sorting, so here’s the next little unseelie to entertain you~

The only thing that is -not- from Twisted Hunt is the hair. It’s by Vita’s Boudoir and I’m pretty much addicted to it for fantasy shots. Everything else is up for grabs at the moment if you only manage to find the evil twisted cube spinning mock-innocently amongst its decoy brethren.

I adore this filigree owl mask by Star Kindler, it’s exquisitely feminine while at the same time so obviously wicked. I added a tattoo layer mask make-up and eyes by Sn@tch to it and used the skin by Heartsick as the basis for this particular unseelie.

The outfit is by DV8 and is very appropriate for a twisted pixie. The necklace and bracelets are by Mia’s Gems and the unseelie royal pavilion where I took the pictures is by ThatChick. The poses are a part of the build. By the way, if you fancy evil thrones, fairy circles, forests and castles in this colour: this is the hunt for you. Absolutely insane amount of furniture and living environments for the unseelie. Just saying~

52 Colours: Firebrick

For once I actually found something in my inventory when I searched with the exact colour name! I’ve found most of my colour-outfits from my inventory, but usually by either trying stuff on or searching by a base colour name and comparing to the sample. So here’s to Vasha of DV8 for having made an outfit and called the colour right!

Obviously when you dress up in DV8 you have but one direction to go: future! So I added a mask by DV8 to be really matchy, hair + hat by Pocket Mirrors, belt by Loulou&Co and fun geared arm-wraps by Trashville.

Where is Miss Firebrick, you might ask. Except in the future, of course. This is Bladerunner City, Offworld Colonies. Wonderful and extremely fitting place for her, go visit! I’m not really certain if she’s a bad girl up to no good or a good girl just very proficient in kicking behinds. I think I got the handgun back in the Zombie Killer days, but SL had eaten the creator from properties. I’m assuming the Grim in the name refers to Grimly’s Bloodbath and the combat system that was in use in there, though! The combat poses are by Niqotine Poses.

The bar code tattoos are by Gaea Designs, boots by Addictia, skin by The Plastik and the eyes by REPULSE. Most of these are old hunt prizes, not that I’m a hunt-a-holic or anything…

Future’s So Dark, I Gotta-

-wear cybernetic eye implants? Not such a good song title, I fear. I’ve been feeling like it’s October suddenly. The grid is so full of dark themed hunts that I was tempted to call this post Macabre May. There’s Dark Future Hunt, The Macabre Hunt, Zombie Killer Hunt and I saw several other posters for dark hunts while running about. I’ve also been meaning to poke at the Supernatural Hunt more.

The hunts brought me to absolutely delightful little skybox-pose-setting shop called Lievens. Below is their take on the Macabre Hunt’s theme: Pandora’s Box. I had so much fun playing with the little skybox-dressing rooms and props that for once I traded shadows for that. They were not modifiable so I couldn’t do my usual little cheat of turning parts transparent to let the sun and shadows in.

The cyber siren latex outfit is by Sassy!, the gearhouse hand implants by Malfean Visions, eye scanity implant by Grim Bros. and the bar code arm tattoos by Gaea Designs. All of these are from the Dark Future Hunt. The eyes and the slight cracks around them are a part of Souzou Eien’s Macabre gift that I was so fond of I used them in all of these pictures. Skin is Sonya’s usual League one and the hair is by Mirror. I worship their scifi hairs, yes I do. <3

In the event of a zombie attack: be sure you’re carrying a big sword. Having a bike with dual machine guns and retractable blades won’t hurt, either. At least it won’t hurt you. <.< The bike is by M&M Celtic Designs and the sword is called Grim Punisher Broad Sword and was given in the same prize as the first fifty slurls for the Zombie Killer Hunt. The bike is obviously from that hunt as well. The shelter is by Snow Bound and the skybox used as the base setting is by Lievens, both of them from the Dark Future Hunt. The Apocalyptic Annie Leather Outfit is by Evil Bunneh and comes with the hair/helm/goggles combo. The shop was new to me and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the outfit and the shape of the prim clothes. Usually putting a prim top on Sonya is painful, but this one fit snug very easily. I added several tattoo layers to the look: Rasetsukoku’s from Macabre Hunt and two by Souzou Eien. I mentioned the cracking one earlier and I added Fairy Eyes – Flame from the Supernatural Hunt as well. Necklace is by Blaspheme, also from Zombie Killer Hunt. As for old, non-hunt things: skin by League, boots by COCO, lip piercing by Mariposa, pose by Niqotine and the burning rolled-up mock-cigar money by Djinn & Tonic. That’s all money’s good for when the zombie apocalypse comes!

Some future folks welcome the dark, though. Here’s the obvious and obligatory villainness lounging about. The helm, collar, bracelet and hand implants with the nifty circular saw are all by Bad Juju. The red latex outfit is by DV8, all of this from Dark Future Hunt. Much to my surprise the red boots by Beauty Killer (from an old hunt) fit with them perfectly. I mentioned this shelter by Snow Bound earlier, just showing it from another angle now. I changed into the Djinn & Tonic skin just for the matching, luscious lipstick. Pose is by Poise. Do not try this at home, children! Posing with circular saw is better left to virtual pixel professionals. (And villains. It’s in their 101.)

Friday the 13th

I was going to start this post by declaring that unless you’re a templar with a time machine visiting 1307, you have nothing to worry about, but apparently there are plenty of theories on why Friday the 13th is supposedly unlucky. I sort of like the scorned Frigga one, I can imagine her being all hissy.

Obviously I had to make a black cat post for today. Usually if I put on ears and go kemonomimi I turn into a bunny, but there’s no mean bunny days so kitty-time it is! (No, the Monty Python bunny doesn’t count. <.<)

Lazy kitty lounging on a mouse trap, waiting for noms. The mouse trap is by Virtual Props & Poses (old hunt gift) and the floating furniture are from a spooky skybox by Snow Bound. I originally had the skybox in the picture as well, but it was no-mod so I couldn’t mutilate it to let the light in, so I decided to go for surreal wall-less look instead. The other black kitties are by A.I. Friends (the one near the boots), XD Fusion (on the mouse trap base) and Pink Fuel (clinging to the trap part).

~I’m gonna catch you, little batty~ The stones, the tree and the bats are all a part of a graveyard by Foxworth Creations. The pose is by Poise and worked perfectly for the kittiness. Kitty has a Mynerva skin with a scar on her cheek (from Mynerva’s birthday gift hunt), black-based neko-eyes by Urban Dare and a slinky black tail and twitchy ears by Kosh. She also has cyber kitteh boots by DV8, because I’m not too fond of the big prim paws, but wanted something else than shoes. The slinky latex outfit is by Dare Designs. Why yes, ‘slinky’ is the keyword here. We are talking of felines, after all. The bangles (and the nails & rings in the first picture) are by Mandala. The snake tattoo and what little you may see of the padlocked collar are by Sn@tch. The nose chain is by Wild Style Fashions and the hair & hat combo is by Waka & Yuki. It felt like an appropriate mix of mock-military kick-assness mixed with grungy comfiness.

52 Colours: Olive

I actually found several olive things in my inventory, some of them were even labeled olive! I find this surprising. Another surprising thing is that Miss Olive told me in no uncertain terms that she would be kicking some serious behind and would not be sitting pretty in a skybox. So, off to S.I.C49 we went!

Miss Olive is also the first of my colour-girls to get two pictures. She told me she needed two and I didn’t dare to object! The outfit is mostly by Mimikri, except for the velvet tanktop by Sn@tch, fishnet gloves by DV8 and torn fishnet tights by Sheer. The glaring green eyes and the eye make-up are by The Plastik. The fantastic armband with letter-change script nametag (three letters) is by Yabusaka. Skin is by League and lashes by Redgrave, as usual. Pose by Estetica.

Her hair with the headband and skulls is by Urban Assault. The facial piercings by Virtual Insanity are all linked into one item. The shorter necklace is by Loulou&Co and the longer by Little Pricks. Earrings are by Silver Wheel. The face stripes are by YaYo. All of these are old hunt items. Pose by Niqotine Poses.

There’s more windlight and other enhancement play than usual, but the environment just forced my hand! Nothing to do with Miss Olive glaring at me at all! <.<

Twisted Rebirth

“The note is heavy in your hands, heavier than a piece of paper should be. You stare down at the words, wondering just who might be waiting for you in this unfamiliar place. You turn it over, hoping for any other hints, any other help. In small writing you find scrawled on the back,

Near a place reserved for woe,
in a place that’s high but low,
Watch which way the raven doth go.

You ponder the mysterious passage’s meaning. Reserved for woe…wasn’t there a mausoleum nearby? On the other hand…in a place that’s high, this house is so high, could she mean the attic?”

That is how it all begins. A small note in the fireplace, a mysterious hint and off you go, following its trail, making decisions as you go along and dying horribly in several imaginative ways! Although if you’re thorough enough there is still hope… I’m speaking of the mini-hunt ^Re.Birth^ has in addition to their regular Twisted Hunt prize. It’s like those books where you choose your own path and fate. Once you’ve met your fate in one dreadful fashion, go back and try another option! The prizes are skins, eyes, tattoo layers of twistedness and poses, not to mention random props like a map of Innsmouth and Necronomicon…

“After what seems like ages in the winding, dark and sometimes suffocatingly tight tunnels, you come to a chamber. All along the arching stone walls, are faint scratches, you run your fingertips across the slick cavern wall. Unable to make anything out, you turn your attention to the large, sickly green colored statue. It almost looks as if it was carved from the back wall of the stone chamber, as it seems to be almost…growing out of it. However the near luminescent quality of the statue makes that impossible, the stone looks unlike anything you’ve ever seen. At it’s base lies a peculiar book, you kneel down and pick it up. The moment you crack it open, a loud roaring fills the cave, the walls flaring to life, revealing thick, glowing red lettering. The language is foreign though, you shake, clutching the open book to your chest as you turn round and round, trying to take in all the writing at once.

Oh god, they’re real. It’s real…all the horrors that the book in the library described, the unfathomable Elder Gods. A sharp warmth floods your chest and you gasp in pain, dropping the book to the ground. Tearing open your shirt, you see the same glowing, foreign letters that adorn the chamber walls being torn into your flesh. The warm pain sweeps out to your fingers, to your toes and you collapse as it ascends into your face. Laughing hysterically, you reach a now rune riddled hand towards the book, clutching it to your chest once again as you rock back and forth on the cavern floor. As that foreign, now wonderful pain washes over your mind, you smile maniacally. The voices, the beautiful, horrible whispering voices telling you all you need to know, need to do. Yes, yes…there will be blood, and horror, and endless screaming. This world will once again be theirs.”

Here’s one of the endings! Fun, hmm? All the quotes are of course from the game and I took the pictures within it, so for once there’s no skybox-furniture-prop set-ups, but actual in-world photos. A hunter wandered in while I was taking this one, thought I was a prop and clicked me. I was most amused and of course apologized and explained what I was doing there. The dress, glasses and hat are all from the Twisted prize of Dare Designs and just said ‘Victorian Detective of Supernatural Phenomena’ to me. The pose is by Niqotine Poses.

“Out of the corner of your eye, you spy a sliver of white peeking out from the underbrush. You lean down amidst the graves, brushing leaves and dirt away from a discarded book. Only too late do you notice the blood spattered pages, you stand up, a cold chill running down your spine as an unholy chorus of groans rises to your ears. A hand rips forth from the earth, gripping your ankle, you start to run…jerking your body free only to stumble into a cold body. The smell of earth and rotten flesh fills your nostrils, searing pain radiating from your shoulder as the zombie tears into you…it’s too late. You sob, looking up into the sky…hoping just maybe they’ll eat enough of you so you return as they have…return as an abomination.”

Of course you have to have death by zombies! This particular zombie girl has overgrown nail-claws, the Twisted Hunt prize from U&R Dogs. The knife in her chest is by Virtual Insanity, also a Twisted prize. The outfit is a mix of older things, body suit by Ilaya and kilt by DV8. Pose is by No Strings Attached.

“Rowena: Thank you, your kind heart has released me from my torment at their hands. I have no way to repay you, but please take comfort in the knowledge that I am moving on to a better place. You must take great care on your way out, for SHE still awaits in the depths of the house.“

It’s not all hopeless, though! If you’re persistent enough you’ll be able to free the tormented soul of a young innocent girl. And who is SHE, you ask? The one who awaits. Go ahead and play to find out! *grins* I dressed Rowena in the cuteness that is Wretched Dollies, modeling in a fairy pose by Creative Insanity.

And as said, all the pictures are taken while doing this mini hunt, quotes are straight from it. There are six dreadful deaths and the redemption of Rowena waiting for you, if you just dare to try…

Twisting (N)evermore

Another year, another March, another Twisted Hunt — this time the cubes are red and the theme is Nevermore. This means a lot of squee for red, black and feathers~ As usual, the prizes were full of awesome and too plentiful to fit into one blog post, so I present only some of my favorites in the form of the Raven Sisters.

“Tell us, wise grandmother, how do we free our sister? She’s been lured into a trap by humans; betrayed, caught and caged.”

The Eldest of the Raven Sisters is asking for guidance, hovering in the air in the pose included in the chair by Lemons & Cream. The rug and the plant are also a part of the set. The Hellraiser pedestal with a non-red cube is from Archaic. The skull on the chair (to hide the poseball) is by Tay’s and the red cube & raven are one of the extras from Lemons & Cream. The Nevermore Mansion (the frame is a part of it) is from Malfean Visions.

Look at the frame again. See the shadow of the murdered woman? That’s not a shadow nor a part of the painting, it’s a prim shadow by Likka*House attached to the back of the Eldest. She’s wearing an outfit from Bad Juju, gloves & bracelets by Loulou&Co, hat by Delaney’s, hair corsage by Bliensen + MaiTai and necklace by CoLLisions. The awesome crow feet are by Gilded, skin by ^Re.Birth^, face tattoo by Bubble and hair by Souzou Eien.

“Grandmother said only this, dear sister: ‘No shame in getting caught, only in not getting out. She is a Raven.’”

The middle one of the Raven Sisters brought the word to the youngest. There is no lock to keep a raven in. If you don’t believe me, read this. The crow in a cage is by DV8, a part of the Evil End Game prizes. The crystal ball with a red cube on the mantlepiece is by Lemons & Cream, one of the extra prizes. Everything else in the house, including the house itself, is a part of Raven’s Chamber, a wonderful prize from Michigan’s Shack.

This particular Raven Sister is wearing an outfit by Blue Blood, a raven mask by Souzou Eien, cameo necklace by Sacred Roses, skin by ^Re.Birth^and hair by Bad Juju. The hair wasn’t a hunt prize, but an extra for sale for 10 lindens. I couldn’t resist. The pose is Mela’s.

“And now that I’m out, it’s time for revenge! I’ve memorized their faces, their habits, their addresses, their very souls.”

Here’s the Youngest of the Raven Sisters fleeing her gilded cage. The little garden is built inside the Parliament of Rooks by Curvasive Designs. It consists of the gilded cage by Trident, a bench and curtain by Dolome Designs and extra flowers (there were some with the cage) by Oddment.

The Youngest is wearing… not much, what with recent shapechange to freedom, but there’s a very sharp knife between her lips by Virtual Insanity! Surely that counts? No? Well, there’s also a necklace by DV8 and bracelets by Mia’s Gems. The feather pasties are a part of the skin by b[ELLE]issima, the rest of the scribblings on her skin are a separate tattoo layer from CoLLisions. Her hair is by DV8, wings are by Favole and the circling flock of accompanying ravens of doom are by ImmateriA. She has the same crow feet as the Eldest (by Gilded), although they’re not much visible. Pose is by Niqotine Poses.

What do we learn from all this? Be nice to ravens. You might forget what you did, but they will not. Ever.

52 Colours: Electric Lime

Now this was a challenge. I stared at the colour sample at the 52 Weeks of Color Challenge page and tried to figure out who would possibly wear that colour. Only two things came to mind: 1) neon-enthusiasts in the eighties 2) cyberpunks. I’m sure no one has to wonder which option I took. *grins*

Miss Electric Lime is obviously a hissy kick-ass girl armed with a spiky scythe and tons of attitude~ She’s wearing the bright neon colours as a warning, just like many creatures in the wild. You don’t want to mess with me, I’m poisonous. In her case, probably toxic.

Her outfit is a mix of DV8 (skirt and top) and Gauze (black latex layers underneath). The gasmask, zydrate fix armstrap and the cyber scythe are also from DV8. Hair and cyber arm implants are by Fatal Error. Skin and eyes are by The Plastik and the pose by Niqotine Poses. The abandoned toxicity house is by Firefly Fashions.

After this week I feel ready for any other colour!
