52 Colours: Charcoal

Miss Charcoal is made out of two old and one brand new favourite of mine. The W.P. Nightmare outfit by Bare@Rose has classic goth vampire vibe to it without being pure textureless black. Yes, it’s vampire time again. I shall blame Halloween while knowing none of you believe it: any season is a vampire season!

Sky Everett’s Temptress hair has always been my go-to for when making classy vampire women in gowns. It’s Elvira with extra sophistication. As for my new favourite, Izzie’s Fuyu-skin has this special edition available only in The Costume Ball. It comes with several lipsticks, including the red one here.

Speaking of old favourites: the sim is another of them. World’s End Garden continues to provide for all your romantic, poetic goth scenery needs. Less blood and darkness, more melancholy and longing.

52 Colours: Feldgrau

Feldgrau, field grey, is usually associated with military uniforms. It’s very dull green, almost grey as the name states and I had trouble finding it in my inventory, especially since I wanted to keep some sort of nod toward military. …yes, it’s a corset. I said a nod, not actual accuracy of any sort!

I tinted the blonde parts of this bob by LaViere to feldgrau, just to have more of the colour in the picture than just some parts of the SAKIDE mesh corset. It was a part of a hunt prize a while ago and I don’t actually know if they have it for sale or not, but it was perfect for this. Speaking of perfect, the surroundings are Kaaos Das Boot U-Boat, which was also a hunt prize from MadPea at some point, I believe.

When I was going through my makeup folder, I wanted to go for that night-time look, even if Eddie Izzard calls it a bit of a slapdash. Combining three different tattoo layers did the trick, I think our U-boat captain looks perfectly believable. In an anime film, mayhaps.

52 Colours: Cadmium Red

Hello bandwagon, here’s my Red! I know that everyone and their pet dog have blogged this gorgeous hair + hood by Exile from Fairy Tales 2012 event, but it was so conveniently timed and toned for this week’s colour that I couldn’t resist.

I am rather fond of the turn-arounds with Red’s story, those where she is a wolf hunter or even the wolf herself. From the victim or the damsel in distress into action heroine. Yes, the world is full of bad wolves — both the obvious interpretation of sexual assaulters and any kind of problems in your way, but Reds of today don’t have to just sit still and hope to be rescued.

This particular Red adventured in The Dark Muse Forest, perfect for her to check if anyone is home in the little cottage or to traipse over stepping stones. Her outfit is one of the excellent oldbies from my endless fantasy folders, a gypsy outfit by Wishbox. The Pink Fuel skin was a hunt prize during the xmas time.

The Muses

All the slinky gowns! I do adore them. In this case these beauties are all by The Muses. From left to right Elegy, Archaic and Ballad. They will be available in the World Goth Fair when it opens tomorrow (May 15th).

The gowns are partial mesh, meaning that there’s a top, glitch pants and gloves in regular system layers and then sleeves and skirt part in mesh to add to them. This makes them fit your own shape flawlessly.

They come in several colours, only wine not shown in the first picture. My favourite was the blue one, so I took a couple of extra pictures with it. The lounging I Like It Spooky chair by Malfean Visions was just the right amount of elegance mixed with goth to go with the look. The House of Sorrows is by Urban Forge Virtuatecture, full of wonderful windows for shadowplay.

All the gorgeous eyeliners are by Pin Me Down, perfect to goth your eyes up fittingly. I know M.O.C.K. Cosmetics will be in the fair as well, but I don’t yet know which ones of her makeups will be available there. Her work tends to fit Sonya’s lips the best though, so I’m sure there’ll be squees by tomorrow!

The Magic of Noms

Fair warning: do not go to Jungle Bungle if you’re feeling peckish. There’s chocolate lake and paths of candy drops and all sort of noms everywhere!

However, if you do end up there you can find this Chocolate Delight dress by Simply Fae in there! What better way to wander through candyland than dressed in chocolate, hmm?

I decorated the nomness with a celtic heart necklace by T R I D E N T Jewelry and chocolate matching Hawk2-hair by Wasabi Pills. The necklace can be found in Shadow’s Claw and the hair in The Tides. The extra noms I excavated from my inventory and they are most likely old hunt gifts, but they felt so very appropriate for this that I couldn’t resist the sweetness.

Semeret and Bunny

Semeret is the name of this silk set by ~Illusions~, available in the Shifting Sands of Fantasy Faire. Since I’ve always loved ancient Egyptian myths, I simply had to create a fantasy look involving all of that.

The collar and bracelets are sold separately and the earrings are actually from a Faire freebie by Tekeli-li. Speaking of which, the Hathor hair is by them as well. You can find Tekeli-li in The Tides during the Faire. Both the ~Illusions~ and Tekeli-li use colour-change scripts, so you can create pretty much any look you wish and make them match each other.

I started by taking pictures in the Shifting Sands, exploring the sands of time and the surrounding bazaar, but then I allowed Semeret to return to her tomb to rest.  Of course she has a tomb, what else? Does she look like an ordinary woman to you? No, didn’t think so.

This particular tomb is by T R I D E N T and it is one of their RFL-vendor items. I fully admit that I squeed when I saw it. All the hieroglyphs! You can get your very own tomb from their place in Shadow’s Claw.

Here we have the second part of the title: a bunny hieroglyph! Let me repeat this in case it didn’t sink in properly: BUNNY HIEROGLYPH. I do not have the words to describe the amount of awesomeness this entails. I want to move in and live in a tomb now. It’s a sign!

52 Colours: Royal Purple

With a name like this it was obvious Miss Royal Purple had to be a queen. Evil sorceress queen, duh. Are there any other kind?

Of course I went to my Evie’s Closet folder for this. Luxuriously rich colours and all the style a fantasy queen could possibly want. Since I was lacking in crowns I went for a big hair instead. This one is an old Crazy Hair Hunt gift by Curious Kitties. Speaking of, a new round has just started!

I did find a cute crown by Violet Voltaire from my inventory! Too small for evil queens to wear, but just perfect to tempt mortals with. What would you give for it, pretty one?

Obviously I had to go all the way purple, so even the skin by Heartsick, lipstick by M.O.C.K. Cosmetics and the eyes and the mask tattoo by The Plastik are all purple as well. I tried to find a golden throne for her, but failed. In the end I took her to Athan because I knew I could trust in Alia’s elven builds to have the right vibe. And so they did~

Something Old, Something New

I wasn’t going to blog today, but then I bought a coat. Then I needed a fun place to pose in. Then I glanced at the Great SL Photo Hunt list and… well, here we are. Three themes in two pictures: #76 something old and #77 something new, both happening in a version of #9 you at the Eiffel Tower.

The traditional Eiffel Tower is situated in Les Champs-Elysees and I paired it with this gorgeous Dark December dress by Dare Designs. It is at the moment in one of his Fashion for Life vendors, so go shop while the event is still running! I’d also like to point out that Lassitude & Ennui stays in style through the centuries: both girls are wearing Jackal’s boots!

The more modern version of Eiffel Tower can be found here. It’s called Eiffel Tower 2012 and it’s created by Colpo Wexler. It was quite a sight and contrast to the old Paris sim. As for the coat — that is the thing that started this all. New mesh trench coats by Aoharu. I want more mesh clothes that go for the slinky shape instead of adding poofy layers over the system shape. So much love. <3

52 Colours: Aquamarine

Miss Aquamarine is conveniently a twisted djinni! Everything except the poses is from Twisted Hunt. Granted, the slightly more blue tone wasn’t quite the exact match for the colour sample, but I googled the RGB value for aquamarine and dyed the hair and staff with it. So much love for modable things. <3

I also had tons of fun with smudge stick filter. Smudge all the things! The avatar by Bad Juju had such a supernaturally dark skin that all you can see is eyes and lips, no matter the lighting, so I figured I could go all out without worrying about features not being clear.

The djinni part of the avatar, the lower body’s whirlings is by Weather or Not? and the staff is by Indigo Oddities. The cave with arcane markings is by Michigan’s Shack and I added even an extra arcane circle with candles on the floor from {oddment}.

Be careful what you summon, you never know if they feel like pretending to be controlled or not…

Escher in Epoch

It’s been a long time since I’ve been so thoroughly impressed by an event as I am by EPOCH-Legend. The designers have really embraced the three themes — Art of Escher, Beast and Clowning — and produced things that stand out. Art, quirk, quality, strong points of view. All four areas are worth visiting for the builds alone and once the sims get slightly less populated, they are going to be wonderful places for taking pictures in. I also love the way they made a handy window-shopper blog of all the things.

My first purchase that I knew I simply had to have was nordari.’s ratio fractus. The white surfaces, the water areas with random little boats, the Escher-stairs — a building taken apart and put randomly together again. Surreally fantastic and so very fitting in SL. Virtual worlds do not have to mimic our own reality, after all. I wish more designers did work that reminds us of that.

The second must-have was these Escher-tights by ISON. I fully admit that this photoshoot is pretty much about the tights. They weren’t so promising as a vendor texture, but the moment I saw someone wearing them and how they worked on an actual avatar, my jaw dropped. The rest of the look is built around them, keeping things simple not to clash with them or become too much, but playing a little with greyscale and strong lines.

The Metamorphosis-dress by Epoque is also from the event. I was tempted to buy it in another colour to show off the texturing better, but I knew this one I’d actually use a lot. You can never have too many well-made short black dresses, after all. Quick note about the star-make-up: M.O.C.K. Cosmetics has a fun fantasy make-up gatcha going on, feel free to bankrupt yourselves! I know I did.
