Dragon Summoning 101

My first Twisted Hunt inspired look of the spring is obviously a teenager sorceress who has just learned to summon her first dragon. Yes, she is so proud and smug that she’s about to burst.

There’s only a few things in the whole post that are not from Twisted Hunt. The hair is the latest subscribo gift by Exile and the Khloris-tattoo by ~Cannibelle~ is a new release. It was fittingly creepy and gorgeous to work as arcane markings. (Yes, there are bugs involved.)

Disclaimer: no adorable plushie baby dragons were harmed during these pictures. The big dragon is just about to pick it up by neck like a kitten! I fished the baby dragon up in Snow Bound as one of the hunt extras.

The best way to tame a dragon is to remove any evil sharp things from their ickle claws… like huge two-handed swords and such thorns. Poor baby. The boots by Fatal Error might not be as strong weapons, but I’m sure the heels could do some decent damage. They’re only a part of their prize, there’s a whole avatar there.

All but the first pose are by Del May, either from the real prize or the easy-to-locate bonus prize. They are wonderfully zodiac-inspired, this one being of course Libra, weighing the earlier plushie against the arcanathulu from the gatcha extras in Malfean Visions. Speaking of, that’s exactly where the big dragon is from. Go tame find yours!

S.I.C. Girls

It stands for Science Innovation Company and it’s a nifty scifi sim, in case you didn’t know~ The S.I.C. Girls here are Sonya and Ame Lefevre, who randomly suggested we’d do a fun scifi photoshoot together. I was obviously immediately game, or as immediately as one can be when you first have to dig through your inventory and ponder what to wear!

I put on one of the fantastic black-and-white skins by Nuuna and then located scanty leathers of Unit Bella by PixelDolls from my inventory. I added the mesh thigh-high boots by Slink and my favorite scifi hair by Mirror and was pretty much ready! The skin has the black mask in it, but the extra lines are by Fallen Gods Inc., and I added extra eyeliner by Chelle and lashes by Miamai to it.

I love this picture because it looks like Sonya got a random giggle fit and Ame is all ‘Shh, this is serious!’ Ame is wearing a cat suit by Graves, skin by *YS & YS*, hairbase by DeeTaleZ, hair by Tekeli-li and eyes by Ibanez. Sonya’s cyber arm implants are by Fatal Error and eyes by Repulse.

I couldn’t resist messing with filters, Ame’s kick-ass-attitude pose practically called for something more dramatic. Speaking of poses, Sonya’s using an Olive Juice in this particular one, but all the other pics and poses for both are from our respective AOs.

Thank you for the fun, Ame! <3

Fallen Warrior

I was making a less girly twisted unseelie and then I remembered this mourning faerie statue by FallnAngel Creations and the rest sort of just wrote itself…

As I went through Del May’s poses I ran into this one and with the statue there it seemed that the two had a story to tell. Had the unseelie killed the faerie? Did she know her? And then the realization hit me. She -was- her. This is the moment of transformation from the flittery faerie into an unseelie warrior and our villainness is slowly regaining consciousness afterwards, then getting to her twisted feet and regarding the creature she once was, now frozen in stone.

The look started with that glamour armor by Gilded. I used only one arm of it, asymmetry seemed to make it work better. I picked a dark, almost lizardish skin by Kastle Rock Couture and mixed some of Fatal Error’s sukkubus to it. The latter provided the scant clothing layers, twisted legs and interesting bodyhorns for our warrior. This pose is also by Del May.

The hair by The Stringer Mausoleum is the only thing not from Twisted Hunt and I added a dark fae crown by DemotiK to it. There’s also a gorgeous upper body tattoo by Imperio Designs, I’ll have to use it with a lighter skin soon to show it off better. The eyes are by Repulse, who always delivers awesome supernatural gazes for all your dark-mood avatars. The twisted lantern is by Kisetsu, who had the whole shop full of them, some with hints. I had such fun there, wonderfully arranged little extra hunt. <3 As for the surroundings for the transformation, it’s a witch temple by Stone Misery. The pose that looks like she is now ready to leave her past behind and go out hunting is by AAA Poses.

52 Colours: Electric Lime

Now this was a challenge. I stared at the colour sample at the 52 Weeks of Color Challenge page and tried to figure out who would possibly wear that colour. Only two things came to mind: 1) neon-enthusiasts in the eighties 2) cyberpunks. I’m sure no one has to wonder which option I took. *grins*

Miss Electric Lime is obviously a hissy kick-ass girl armed with a spiky scythe and tons of attitude~ She’s wearing the bright neon colours as a warning, just like many creatures in the wild. You don’t want to mess with me, I’m poisonous. In her case, probably toxic.

Her outfit is a mix of DV8 (skirt and top) and Gauze (black latex layers underneath). The gasmask, zydrate fix armstrap and the cyber scythe are also from DV8. Hair and cyber arm implants are by Fatal Error. Skin and eyes are by The Plastik and the pose by Niqotine Poses. The abandoned toxicity house is by Firefly Fashions.

After this week I feel ready for any other colour!

Catching Up With Colours~

A year full of colours, perfect excuse to dig into your inventory and play dress-up, different colour every week. That’s more or less the nutshell of LunaJubilee’s 52 Weeks of Color Challenge. She lists a new colour every week. I didn’t even know there were 52 colours, yegads. My colour perception is practically male: light brown, dark brown, what’s the difference? Fortunately she provides a colour sample every time so I can try and match that! And hey, it’ll be randomly educational, too! Not to mention fun. ^_^

It’s week fifteen of the challenge now, which meant I had fifteen looks to cover. To make the post less picture spammy I actually used a photo studio and then just snip-copy-pasted three in one. Since I was lacking in my usual environment creation fun, I challenged myself in another way: matched the styles of the colours per picture. Can’t make it too easy on myself, right?

The first three colours — grey, blue and goldenrod — turned out to be manga-ish school girl characters. Although I think Miss Blue might be a teacher. I started with flailing about if I’d find anything in goldenrod, going ‘That’s a colour? O.o’ a lot until I finally located that shirt. It called for school girlness, so Miss Grey and Miss Blue just had to live with it. All of their poses are from Ks2cool.

Grey: skin – Frick, eyes – Kosh, hair & scarf – Curious Kitties, tattoo – Moloko, gloves & top – The Loony Bin, leggings – Aoharu, lip piercing – Virtual Insanity, armlet – Zenith Fashion, coffin purse – DV8, belt – Gauze

Blue: skin – M.O.C.K. Cosmetics, eyes – Umedama Holic, hair – Wasabi Pills, dress – Miamai, tattoo – Schadenfreude, stockings & garters – Vinyl Cafe, butterflies – Minajunk, bird ring – KUE!

Goldenrod: skin – Imabee, hair – Red Queen, eyes – Poetic Colors, top – Paradisis, skirt & gloves – League, boom box – katat0nik, aether headphones – Belle Belle, socks – Rotten Toe

Plum was another tricksy one until I did a search for it and found this exact colour sample match hair from my anime hairs folder! Much rejoicing. ^_^ Then I poked around in my lolita folder and found a dress with exact same hue whales on it. Obviously Miss Sepia and Miss Yellow weren’t that difficult to dress up once I had the lolita style decided.

Plum: skin – Violent Seduction, eyes – Rita Eyes, hair – Little Heaven, dress & tattoos – katat0nik, necklace – Pink Fuel, pose – Lazy Places

Sepia: skin – Imabee, eyes – Sn@tch, hair – Curious Kitties, monocle – E&D Engineering, orchid – Orquidea, collar – Steam Powered Nuts, Inc., dress – Frick, pose – Estetica

Yellow: skin – Pink Fuel, eyes – Glam Affair, hair – Fatal Error, dress – Dilly Dolls, tattoo – Curious Kitties, cyber arm implants – Fatal Error, pose – Melancholia Lilliehook

Cerise was one of those ‘This is a colour? Yegads, it’s dark pink!’ moments. I did a search for ‘pink’ and tried everything on and much to my surprise found this vintage lingerie -and- shoes in exact colour sample tone! Who knew~ Miss Green and Miss Silver got to wear lingerie just to match lil Miss Cerise. You can’t really see the shoes on Miss Green and Miss Silver that well, but all three are wearing Grim Bros’s fantastic curlique filled wonders. There’s just something so delicate, decadent and debaucherous in those details. And other d-words.

Cerise: skin – Frick, eyes – Kosh, hair – BettiePage Voyager, lingerie – Dominion Fashon District (creator: pisi Ruby), shoes – Grim Bros, stockings – Lapointe, gloves – Sn@tch, pose – Natasha Martov

Green: skin – Heartsick, eyes – Plastik, hair – Sky Everett, jewelry – Ganked, lingerie – Style by Kira, stockings – Dilly Dolls, gloves – The Black Canary, pose – Niqotine Poses

Silver: skin – Frick, eyes – Kosh, hair – lamb, nightie – A&A Fashion, shoes – Grim Bros, jewelry – Mandala, pose – CnS E-motion

Two browns in one picture! I divided them in order and when I realized that I’d have two separate browns in this one, I just knew it’d be steampunk. I mean… my inventory is sort of black, black, black, red, black, blue, black, green, lots of browns in the steampunk folder! black. I am so miffed I couldn’t use hya-blue (Silent Sparrow) for the middle girl, but I just could not match it to the colour sample with good conscience. Fortunately I had Sparrow in sienna!

Sienna: skin – Frick, eyes – Plastik, hair – Waka & Yuki, dress – Silent Sparrow, goggles – Belle Belle, steampunk headset – Londinium Gearworks, hat – Illusions, pose – Olive Juice

Indigo: skin – Frick, hair – Waka & Yuki, eyes – Mynerva, hat – Perturb/ation, gloves – Atsuki Kayo, necklace – Mariposa, dress – Evie’s Closet, pose – Niqotine Poses

Taupe: skin – Sn@tch, make-up – Frick, eyes – Plastik, hair – Waka & Yuki, gloves, skirt & stockings – League, top & necklace – Sn@tch, pose – LAP

When I realized my last picture had emerald, black and red I more or less squeed. …and then I couldn’t decide if I wanted to make a fantasy picture or a ballet picture. So I made both! It’s like a joke: ‘A dryad, a drow and a demon walk into a ballet class…’ Obviously the demon is more interested in inviting others to dance and the drow claims she can’t dance without daggers, it’s apparently a part of her cultural heritage. The dryad was at least somewhat happy~

Emerald: skin – Sn@tch, eyes – Plastik, hair – Curious Kitties, dress – DV8, necklace – Fallen Gods Inc, pose – EverGlow

Black: skin – Ho Wear, eyes – Kosh, hair – Exxess Designs, dress – Mocha, ears – Illusions, necklace – Deviance, lip spider – EarthStones, knives – ODB, pose – Niqotine Poses

Red: skin – Red Queen, hair – Deviant Kitties, eyes – Plastik, tattoos – Fallen Gods Inc, dress – Evie’s Closet, horns – Trap, jewelry – Mandala, lip piercing – Nightshade, pose - Niqotine Poses

Whew. Next week I’ll start blogging colours one per week like everyone else… guess I have to come up with something else for extra challenge… maybe to match furniture or other props, too…

Steamy Twisted Demonology Hunt?

One of the things I’ve always loved about Second Life is how versatile the avatars are. If it can be imagined, someone has probably made it and is selling it. If you want to be a pixie princess one day and a hellhound the next, nothing’s stopping you. If I want to run about as a dark elf in the morning, steampunk clockwork doll in the afternoon and a Victorian lady in the evening, it’s easily done.

Another of my favorite things in SL has always been the hunts. Freebies hidden away for you to locate @.@ It appeals to me both because of the free factor as much as the challenge factor of finding the hidden things. However, what Sonya agrees to wear is …carefully selected, to put it kindly. I have casual clothes. They’re in the ‘costumes’ folder. <.< Gothic, fantasy, vintage, couture and costumes is what’s in my inventory. Thus I don’t usually wade through the hunts with normal things in them. If I can wear couture, why would I ever want to put on jeans? O.o

But when September kicked off with Twisted Hunt, Demonology Hunt and Steam Hunt, it was time to hunt like no tomorrow. I’ve still not sorted it all, but I’m getting there. And since I was taking screenshots to show some of the looks around, I decided to share some of my favorites here!

Twisted Hunt was organized by DV8 and it was absolutely perfectly organized, too. A pleasure to hunt through, despite the twisted evilness of the well-hidden cubes. Here’s the first get-up that made me squee…

DV8′s Cyber Jammer outfit and skates. So random, so awesome. Skin is from Oralune and most definitely not a freebie. Hair and mask are from DV8 as well. If you click your AO off and walk while wearing the skates, you’re actually skating. ^^

This one made me blink. I doubt I’ll be wearing it much since grunge is hardly my style, and being a puppy even less, but I had to screenshot and post it for the sheer value of someone making other kemonomimi than nekos! Plus the attitude is awesome. Boots, hair, puppy bits and outfit all from Pop Tart & Urban Assault, skin from Falln and not a part of the hunt.

I did mention it was -Twisted- Hunt, right? This is a mix-match of things to create this lovely little demented dolly with a big, big sword. Skin – Nocturnal Flesh, hair – BattleAngel, dress – Dilly Dolls, pawboots – Demotik, sword- D.H. Customs, tophat – Burning Chrome — all from the hunt.

So when someone makes a full aztec temple with sacrifice stone, and another designer makes a minidress with a knife sticking out of your chest, you know what you have to do, right? Skin – Fatal Error, eyes – Absentia, hair – Discord Designs, outfit & knife – Vexed. Cannot wait for the Halloween parties now!

When we were done with the Twisted Hunt, we started the Demonology Hunt straight away! The subject is obvious and the quality of the items was surprisingly good for such a short and new hunt. There were organizational problems, but for a first hunt of its kind it was a really good one.

I had way too much fun with these photoshoots. Now, if you’re a girl, there is absolutely one thing above others you must get from this hunt and that’s the gorgeous demon skins of Frick. I’ll show all three of them, this is the first. The claw — which is another awesome thing — is from Red Eye Shop. Tail, shoulderspikes and hoofboots are from Burning Chrome. Horns from BloodMyst, spiked wrist strap from Spider Productions. The hair from Deviant Kitties and the straps from Chaospire were not a part of the hunt nor free.

Here’s the red skin from Frick! The awesome claw staff is also made by Red Eye Shop, but it’s hidden in Mayhem Weapon Store. Satyr hooves from Lazy Places. Horns, tail and spikes from The Stringer Mausoleum. Prim fire glowing eyes from Gothic Dreams, hair from Vixen Hair. The Chaospire straps still not free.

Here’s the third Frick skin and a more modern take on a demon! Ears, horns, goggles, pants, hoofboots from Nekorotic Misfits. The shirt from The U-neek, Plasma Spikes from  DeTHGRiP, hair Vixen Hair and the glowing prim eyes from Meimu.

And after barely catching our breath from all the brimstone, it was time to breathe in some steam and head out to the Steam Hunt! It was also the first time for that subject and obviously also for the people organizing it. Some of the big steampunk designer names were missing, the organization was generally a confusion, a lot of the shops had dropped out and so forth. It was mostly furniture and interesting gadgets, so if you’re after awesome mock-victorian gowns or airship pirate outfits, you still need to get those with lindens. However, here’s some of the looks I found interesting…

There were two prizes about steampunk mer-creatures. I found this intriguing. O.o I’ve combined them in this, using the tattoo and the top of aeNigma with the brass octomer ‘tail’ of Brackish. Hair is from Vixen Hair, eyes from Occular Oddities (the only eyes in the hunt, but boy were those clockwork eyes pretty) match strangely well with Falln’s Isis skin (which isn’t a part of the hunt). The deep breather on her upper chest (plus tanks on her back) is from Never Ever and the mechanical arm is from Bare Bear Discount Store. …really, don’t they rust when they swim? So curious.

Since the Steam Hunt didn’t have any skins in the prizes, I poked my inventory for some. This is Frick’s Noir, and for some reason I loved it for these demented doll looks. Hair is from The Stringer Mausoleum, necklace from Lantian, the dress from Weird Designs and the tophat from Viv Trafalgar Outfitters.

As far as screenshots go, this one is definitely one of my favorites. Skin is still Frick’s Noir (not a part of the hunt), there’s Tesla Rose (11 prims) from Rasetsukoku on the right and ‘Undying Love’ (77 prims) from Belle Belle on the left — the top two of my favorite furniture items on the hunt. Outfit from Ali Couture, tophat from Koatic Designs, hair from The Stringer Mausoleum.

And with that I’m signing out and leaving you to hunt for the rest of September — hurry up with the Demonology Hunt, it ends already on 15th. The two others run the whole of September. In October I’ll no doubt be busy again and will post again in a year or so! ^_^
