The Importance of Coffee

I confess, I’m a coffee-holic. If I’m afk it is most likely because I’m making more of it. The sweet soothing nectar of the gods that doesn’t ever keep me awake against my will, but without which I’d be yawning constantly. What? I live in a country that is pretty much dark for half a year! We need our coffee!

Thus I’m sure no one is surprised about how much I squeed at the Cafe Hunt. Not only was it full of wonderful cafe setting furniture and noms, there was also maid and waitress outfits all over the place. This particular one by izm. was my favorite, though. The tights by Latte and boots by Lassitude & Ennui were not a part of the hunt, I just added them to complete the look for the awesomeness reasons. The vintage home cafe is by Greeny Beetle, the monkey purse by Epic and the pitcher and the furniture by Baffle!, all from the hunt.

I wanted to also make a look for a customer, and she ended up being rather high vintage style. The Pizazzle mini dress is by {bilo} and the Exile hair and Atomic skin are both from the current Dressing Room Blue. The fascinator is from LaGyo’s sale — at this rate I will own the whole Mademoiselle line soon. The ridiculously delicious looking sweet strawberry pancake tray is by Poche, the coffee break picture by (meberry) and the cafe counter by Zacca.

The skin by Shiva and glasses by Air are from the hunt, but the hair by Love Soul isn’t. I was just in bobbish mood again, so both women ended up in one. Both of them also have Pulcino’s hunt prize eyes, just in different colours. The real star of this particular picture is the cheese cake tray by Nonino, though.

“Yes, I believe I shall be late… for ten… say twenty minutes…”

The gorgeous colour-change necktie by Lassitude & Ennui is a hunt prize as well. The earrings by Miel (subscribo-gift) and fine gloves by The Secret Store are not, but they completed the look so perfectly. The blue phone with the pose as well as the pose in the first picture are from Olive Juice’s closing sale. So much sadness. The hot chocolate fox by [D]oki that I’m pretending is coffee might help in cheering anyone up, though.

Bird at Window

Are you familiar with stamp rallies? They are a very fun form of buy-one-get-one-for-free systems. You need to buy something from participating shops (who have further defined which of their products are a part of the rally), get a HUD with the purchase, then visit a bunch of shops with the HUD to get it marked, then pick a free gift from an exclusive selection as your prize. The latest of these rallies is the Puffling Present Pursuit! It celebrates the Ozimals releasing their latest breedable, the puffling birds and thus the prizes are somewhat birdy-themed as well.

I played some more with the windows in this adorable house by Kukuvaya, I just can’t get over how there’s not only so many of them to create shadow criss-cross effects, but how beautifully decorated they are. The birdy is wearing a Lift Off! dress by katat0nik and Bird of Paradise mesh boots by Lassitude & Ennui, both prizes in the Puffling Present Pursuit. The rally is on until January 12th, so make sure you get your prizes before that! These won’t be for sale later.

The skin by LAQ and hair by Exile are both xmas subscribo-gifts. I added liner-and-lash by Miamai and a face tattoo by White Widow to the look. The latter is from Christmas Hunt. I had to use birdy-accessories, so there’s a chickadee hairpin by .( bewildebeest ). and birdee blue ring by KUE! to chirp away. The almost hiding flutterby is by CheerNo, the eyes are by Poetic Colors and all the poses are by aDORKable Poses.

52 Colours: Cream

So many jokes to resist, yegads. *coughs* Anyways! This week’s colour challenge is cream. Since I have zero urge to dress up as a wedding cake, I went the other route and ended up in a cream shower in lingerie.

The cream shower is a part of one of my favorite builds ever: caffeine addiction house by Firefly Fashions. I’ve had it for a long time and no doubt it was a hunt gift once upon a time, but there’s just something irresistible about a house concentrated around coffee. There’s practically a sea of coffee on top, with a huge coffee pot pouring more and — yes, you guessed it — also a creamer doing the same. Thus the shower!

Fortunately I also found this coffee cup by Slow Kitchen that is big enough for the creamer! Mmm, coffee. Rampant coffee cup snuggling occurring, yesyes. The lingerie set is by Nyte N Day. I loved how vintagey-modest it looked, giving the whole thing sort of fifties pin-up feel. The Mucha-earrings and Arabesque-ring are among the giftie-pile by Coyo and thus from .( bewildebeest ). <3

There had to be noms for cream-theme, obviously. The cake and bonbon cube in the mouth are both by KUE! and so delicious looking that they give me cravings. The yellow bow necklace type of thing is by LaGyo and the yellow candy eyes are by A.D.D. Andel. Eye make-up is by Miamai and the lipgloss by M.O.C.K. Cosmetics.

On second thought, perhaps I should nom the strawberry mousse by Poche myself instead of offering it away… the whipped cream on the nose is by Sweet Leonard & Needful Things. The perfect blondness moment has been achieved with hair by Sky Everett and cutesy skin by Pink Fuel, fittingly in milk-tone. The pose used in first and last picture is by Olive Juice, the others were a part of the coffee cup. Actually, I think the coffee cup might have been hot chocolate, but the two go together so wonderfully that who cares~

Cool Critters

There’s been a cutesplosion in my inventory lately and I figured I should set them in something resembling order. It was a bit of a challenge with all the awwing they inspire, but I think I managed!

Here’s Sonya’s Ark, although it’s really just a raft. All the animals and the raft itself are from the lucky boards of Stray Pig, one of the places full of random cute.

The whitewash shelf with the plants, watering can, birdy and the sack and mushrooms next to it are by Awesome Blossom, their Zombie Popcorn Hunt prize. The coffee mug on the donkey’s back is by Art Dummy! (old hunt gift) and the macaron flan serving tray in front of the sheep is by KUE!, from the Just Desserts Hunt. The giraffe-matching dress is by Peqe and I wanted to try and make the hairdo resemble the giraffeness somehow, so I removed the decorations from one of the wonderful Tukinowaguma hairdos and added leaf-sticks by Caverna Obscura into it. The flower mouthie by Sweet Leonard & Needful Things (group gift) that the deer is noming, the adorable panda earrings by Sn@tch (a part of an old fishing outfit), freebie rose rings by December and the ring by Bewildebeest (worn on thumb here, subscribo-gift) might be too small to see if you don’t click the picture to view it in the real size. Here’s a completely different kind of a critter! An ickle summer cthulhu with an ice cream cone by Avatar Bizarre from the SLU sale. The end of the world was never this cute~ The oh-so-fitting octo dress is by The Sea Hole, yoinked from their summer sale that’ll end on June 10th. Hurry! Hair is a freebie by Vive9, the face tattoo is the latest group gift by Fallen Gods Inc. and the adorable little hat with lace is by Natural and it cost only 10 lindens. I found their shop during the Black Butler Hunt and about died of cuteness and all the flower accessories. All the bracelets are by Bewildebeest, the selection of colourful ones are a freebie in the shop. The Moby bracelet isn’t free, but is way too awesome not to have. The little teahouse is by C&D Designs, their prize in the Silk Road Hunt. The balloon-floated chair is by What Next? (Zombie Popcorn Hunt prize), the about-to-drop-off slurpies are the latest group gift by Sweet Leonard & Needful Things and the tiny bunny with Japanese flag is by Sanu, who will soon travel to Japan and sent the bunny to her group in celebration. All the posing is so tiring. Good thing LISP sent this daybed to her subscribo-members. There’s also a flying bear from Love Soul’s lucky chair on the background, as well as macaron flan dessert seat by KUE! (Just Desserts Hunt) and a myna bird by Stray Pig (lucky board). I grabbed these engineer shorts from The Sea Hole’s sale and added a top from the latest group gift of Azul’s to it. Look at the spoon mouthie, though. There’s a tiny bunny dessert thing on it! These little awws are from a gatcha by Illusory. The glasses by December and shoes by Lassitude & Ennui are both from the Black Butler Hunt. The shoes are the real stars of this picture, obviously. So pretty~ Hair is by Elikatira, skin is by League and eyes by Poetic Colors. The skin and the eyes stayed the same through all three pictures. And look, still wearing the Moby bracelet!

52 Colours: Eggplant

I’m amused at how many people actually correctly called this week being eggplant in advance. I wonder if that means we’ll have something like… tomato next week? The spring of fruit and vegetables continues!

To my surprise the clothes that matched the colour swatch best (on my screen) were not lolita dresses or gowns like I assumed they’d be. No, Miss Eggplant turned out to be a casual girl! She obviously likes campfires and watching stars with a good cup of coffee and some cute company~

I meant the squirrels, of course. What else? They’re from Plod, which isn’t around anymore. The cuteness factor of the grid took a huge hit when they poofed. The adorable thermos and coffee cup are by KUE! and the star atlas is made by Chrystin Hathor. The sky, grass, campfire and logs are all a part of a sky sphere by A.D.D. Andel!, it was their prize in the Albero’s Kawaii Hunt.

The bunny bag where all the noms and other vital provisions are packed is from the same place as the eggplantish crow shirt: Tyranny Designs. The shop doesn’t exist under that name anymore and I doubt these items are in the new incarnation of the shop, but the designer is the same Tyr Rozenblum who owns Grixdale these days. Pants are by Cynful, hair with colour-change band by Maitreya (old subscribo-gift), necklace by Twinkleberry (also from Albero’s Kawaii Hunt), pose by Niqotine Poses, eyes by The Plastik, skin by League and the huckleberry nom by Evie’s Closet.

Noms <3

I’m sharing my latest cause for craving, because I’m an evil person like that. Poche makes delicious, delicious treats and has them for free or in a lucky board. Free noms for all! I’ve set the noms on a subscribo-gift from KUE!, a cosy kotatsu. The cutesy bedroom is a group gift from DP yumyum, the lamp is a freebie from Zacca and the floral painting a hunt prize from Croire.

The adorable little dolls by Naminoke are from Help Japan Event and come in two sizes, this is the mini kawaii size. And yes, I admit it, the noms are just an excuse to get to flail about this hairdo. You know me and big hairdos, especially if they have random sticks and things in them. Tukinowaguma even provided the decorations in several colours <3 The mini-kimono is by Toutou-ann. There’s a sale in the shop and the proceeds are going to Japan, as well. The skin is by League, I just turned it slightly more scene-fitting with a make-up layer from Esk-Imo. The eyes are by Poetic Colors and are firmly fixed on the noms~

Catching Up With Colours~

A year full of colours, perfect excuse to dig into your inventory and play dress-up, different colour every week. That’s more or less the nutshell of LunaJubilee’s 52 Weeks of Color Challenge. She lists a new colour every week. I didn’t even know there were 52 colours, yegads. My colour perception is practically male: light brown, dark brown, what’s the difference? Fortunately she provides a colour sample every time so I can try and match that! And hey, it’ll be randomly educational, too! Not to mention fun. ^_^

It’s week fifteen of the challenge now, which meant I had fifteen looks to cover. To make the post less picture spammy I actually used a photo studio and then just snip-copy-pasted three in one. Since I was lacking in my usual environment creation fun, I challenged myself in another way: matched the styles of the colours per picture. Can’t make it too easy on myself, right?

The first three colours — grey, blue and goldenrod — turned out to be manga-ish school girl characters. Although I think Miss Blue might be a teacher. I started with flailing about if I’d find anything in goldenrod, going ‘That’s a colour? O.o’ a lot until I finally located that shirt. It called for school girlness, so Miss Grey and Miss Blue just had to live with it. All of their poses are from Ks2cool.

Plum was another tricksy one until I did a search for it and found this exact colour sample match hair from my anime hairs folder! Much rejoicing. ^_^ Then I poked around in my lolita folder and found a dress with exact same hue whales on it. Obviously Miss Sepia and Miss Yellow weren’t that difficult to dress up once I had the lolita style decided.

Cerise was one of those ‘This is a colour? Yegads, it’s dark pink!’ moments. I did a search for ‘pink’ and tried everything on and much to my surprise found this vintage lingerie -and- shoes in exact colour sample tone! Who knew~ Miss Green and Miss Silver got to wear lingerie just to match lil Miss Cerise. You can’t really see the shoes on Miss Green and Miss Silver that well, but all three are wearing Grim Bros’s fantastic curlique filled wonders. There’s just something so delicate, decadent and debaucherous in those details. And other d-words.

Two browns in one picture! I divided them in order and when I realized that I’d have two separate browns in this one, I just knew it’d be steampunk. I mean… my inventory is sort of black, black, black, red, black, blue, black, green, lots of browns in the steampunk folder! black. I am so miffed I couldn’t use hya-blue (Silent Sparrow) for the middle girl, but I just could not match it to the colour sample with good conscience. Fortunately I had Sparrow in sienna!

When I realized my last picture had emerald, black and red I more or less squeed. …and then I couldn’t decide if I wanted to make a fantasy picture or a ballet picture. So I made both! It’s like a joke: ‘A dryad, a drow and a demon walk into a ballet class…’ Obviously the demon is more interested in inviting others to dance and the drow claims she can’t dance without daggers, it’s apparently a part of her cultural heritage. The dryad was at least somewhat happy~
