As Winter Falls

It’s time for wool and hats and mittens that I am completely lacking in the pictures. The title comes from a combination of this Winter sweater dress by Geometry and the jewelry set it was inspired by: As Darkness Falls by House of Rain. The sweater dress is available in Gothmas by Gaslight and it is one whole item with the skirt to make sure it moves well together.

The fringe boots are a new release by SAKIDE. They come in several colours full of quirky winterness. The Lumi-hair by Wasabi Pills is available in the current FaMESHed round. With that name I would have bought it no matter how it looked, but it’s adorable with the texture change winter hat. Lumi means snow in Finnish, in case you were wondering.

All I need is some hot coffee now… and those mittens.

52 Colours: Barley Corn

With a name like that, I had to find some fields for Miss Barley Corn to wander through. Quite far from any actual farmer, she’s more of a high class girl visiting summer mansion and play-pretending farm things. With cookies. Probably tiny star shaped sammiches and strawberries, too.

It’s all about the hat, as usual. This sun hat by G Field has been my favourite for a long time and you can probably find it in several blog posts in various colours. Long live colour change scripts!

The innocent radiance is a combination of Glam Affair skin and makeup by M.O.C.K. Cosmetics with another of my old favourites: summer wheat eyes by Poetic Colors.

The Bon Bon dress by Sn@tch formed the whole spirit of playful sophistication and conveniently matched the colour sample. The Steph hairstyle by Alice Project combines sweetness with relaxation, not a care in the world and all the time to flitter about smiling.

Escher in Epoch

It’s been a long time since I’ve been so thoroughly impressed by an event as I am by EPOCH-Legend. The designers have really embraced the three themes — Art of Escher, Beast and Clowning — and produced things that stand out. Art, quirk, quality, strong points of view. All four areas are worth visiting for the builds alone and once the sims get slightly less populated, they are going to be wonderful places for taking pictures in. I also love the way they made a handy window-shopper blog of all the things.

My first purchase that I knew I simply had to have was nordari.’s ratio fractus. The white surfaces, the water areas with random little boats, the Escher-stairs — a building taken apart and put randomly together again. Surreally fantastic and so very fitting in SL. Virtual worlds do not have to mimic our own reality, after all. I wish more designers did work that reminds us of that.

The second must-have was these Escher-tights by ISON. I fully admit that this photoshoot is pretty much about the tights. They weren’t so promising as a vendor texture, but the moment I saw someone wearing them and how they worked on an actual avatar, my jaw dropped. The rest of the look is built around them, keeping things simple not to clash with them or become too much, but playing a little with greyscale and strong lines.

The Metamorphosis-dress by Epoque is also from the event. I was tempted to buy it in another colour to show off the texturing better, but I knew this one I’d actually use a lot. You can never have too many well-made short black dresses, after all. Quick note about the star-make-up: M.O.C.K. Cosmetics has a fun fantasy make-up gatcha going on, feel free to bankrupt yourselves! I know I did.

Various Ways to Fall

The Seasons Hunt has started again and it’s full of fun and fabulous fall! I really call the season autumn, but fall is so much more fun to pun with. (Well, really I call the season syksy, but that’s even more difficult to pun with!)

The more casual way to fall is of course having piles and piles of colourful maple leaves to play with! The tree, pumpkins and the poses within it all are from Glitterati. The awwtastic bird house is by Molto Bene. The hat & hair combo is by fri.day, the warm sweater dress is by AddiCt and the colourful leggings by Magic Nook. I used brown eyes by Insufferable Dastard for both pictures and for this picture accompanied them with cute acorn necklace by Concrete Flowers. All of this from the hunt. The bubbles-rings by .( bewildebeest ). are really one of my goes-with-everything favorites and I used one in both pictures, as well as anjum-earrings in the lower one. Much <3 to Coyo, yes~

If playing outside is not your thing, you can fall inside, too. I confess: I’ve wanted that fur stole by Mimikri since last winter. When it hit Dressing Room Blue, I owned it pretty much immediately. Obviously I had to make a vintagey look for it so I used a dress by Ingenue with it. The nifty cinnabun-hair called Leila by Milk Motion was just the right amount of sophistication with just a touch of quirk. The dress and the hair are also from the Seasons Hunt, as well as the house by L2 Studio, seat with books by Vespertine and the hand warmer by TOSL that I set on the seat. (I love it, it looks like there’s a marsupilami hiding in it!) The tights by Le Poppycock and the patchwork boots by Lassitude & Ennui are not a part of the hunt, but definitely squeetastic and fall-fitting. Pose by Olive Juice and skin by League, as usual~

Oh, and absolutely randomly: no post-processing whatsoever on either. Hurray for SL sometimes working like intended!

52 Colours: Pink

Pink is pretty much the doom song for me. Personally I think that no one beside girls under the age of five should be allowed to wear it. However, when I tread in an unknown territory that I’m not too fond of, I rather go overboard with it than try to make it sensible. There’s nothing sensible about pink!

Thus Miss Pink is actually of the opinion that all the people in sensible clothes should eat cake. And cupcakes. And tart. And cookies. Preferably with strawberries included. Possibly whipped cream. Why yes, I did turn pink into decadence and actually had a lot of fun while doing so!

All of the actual clothing pieces – corset, top and socks – are by Sn@tch. I had been waiting for some strange pastel tone that I never use to come up so I could yoink these corsets for it, they’re so perfect for adding huge hairdo and going all pompadour. The hair is by BC322 (lucky board) and absolutely hilarious, taking the art of sticking-odd-things-in-your-hair to new levels! The pearls are by DECO (short ones), Diapop (the straight hanging ones), Milk Motion (over the shoulder and down the back) and Shiny Things (draped over the shoulder and down the arm). I dyed both Milk Motion and Shiny Things pearls and turned some feathers transparent from the Milk Motion ones. The pearls on the gloves received same treatment, dyed them pink and clicked off full-bright. The gloves are by Bygone Beauty.

Skin is by Heartsick, eyes by Umedama Holic, make-up by Kosh, lashes by Redgrave, heartstickers by MiaSnow and the monocle with gummibears by Sanu. As for the noms, there’s a cookie jar by Magic Nook and a teetering tower of teacups by Ingenue (meant to be worn as a hat, an old Kawaii Hunt prize). The rest of the noms are by Poche, except the mouth nom on a fork by Evie’s Closet. The bed is by Falln and the background is the front of a skybox by Lo*momo.

Peeping~

It’s time to peep! Alternatively, it’s time to see how much stuff I have in my ‘sort’ folder. So, here’s a combined post about Easter, spring, bunnies, chicks, peeps and apparently also of dubious substances!

We’ll begin the story with this demure look and peeps hiding in the corner…

Everything looks somewhat normal, right? The bunny-masked girl is about to give a kiss to the lil chick, her pet bunny is admiring the new bunny bag on the couch, birdies in the lamp chirp singsongs, peeps observe silently…

…and suddenly the peeps take over! Obviously during the spring days the peeps have magical powers of transformation and translocation and who knows what else!

They are also …curious little fellows who fully embrace their small size and point of view it offers. Normally such a little peep would get a heel on his nose, but I fear there’s only one creature left whispering in the bun-girl’s ear and it’s a cthulhu…

See what happens when you take advice from miniature Elder Gods! I’m of course referring to the tea growing green, duh. Sonya would like to point out that this last picture is a result of photo manipulation and she would surely never end up in a situation like that. I mean, come on now. The peep is -smoking-! Ick.

La Vie Kawaii~

Also called ‘how we moved from a gothic manor into a garden cottage and squeed~’. Now, I’m going to try to pretend that this isn’t a completely self-indulgent post about home and hearth and bunnies, and all the avatars who run around in the said home, but… yeah. But hey. I am filling a gaping hole in the blog-verse by blogging about garden and yard items! There is so much awesome out there on the grid and no one ever blogs about it. I shall! Oh so reluctantly, yes. *coughs*

So let us start with the girl trio running amok on the grounds, here comfortably posing on top of the bubble chairs from Happy Mood~

The background scenery you see in every picture is this awesome megaprim with windy moors on it. It’s from Two Moon Studios and keeps up our immersion of not at all being situated near random shops or other people. Noes, we live in solitude (and cuteness) somewhere far, far away. The hills with big trees on them are also from Happy Mood. As for what we’re wearing… on the left is Sonya with Rotten Toe dress, Grim Bros shoes, C&D Benelli tights, Nightshade neck ribbon, Curious Kitties hair, Bastchild wrist corsage, Djinn & Tonic skin and an umbrella from Weather! or Not?. In the middle is Loki in Frick skin, Vixen hair, Brocade Tiger pants, Grendel tattoos, Phoenix Designs boots, Rag Dollz leg pistol & strap, CatniP bracers, Haven Designs top, Manna belt, Belle Belle goggles properly on her eyes and other pair of goggles from Hat Mechanic around her neck, because you can’t have too many goggles! That or he’s getting into the Ozimals-mood and has decided he’s a mutant with black ears. <.< I’ll get into what we’re noming in just a moment, but first look at the scenery. How pretty is that? There’s mushrooms from New Trails, trees from Fox Labs, sparkly bubble chairs from Happy Mood, elven light tree branch thing from Forest Floor and of course the magically lit ground which is a mix from the products of Happy Mood and iTuTu. Sonya’s pose is from Ana_mations and Loki’s from Niqotine.

The lovely Japanese lunchbox setting is from Love Soul. It has two different caterings that you pick by touching it. The sushi roll mats (one open, one rolled) are from Sanu, the cookie jar is from Magic Nook and gives cookies when you click it, the tray is from Kinema no Tsuki, the coffee pot on it from Oblonski and the apple pie slices and cups on it from Falln. Sonya is wearing frilly shorts by LeeZu, top by Sn@tch, Waka & Yuki hair, Yabusaka sandals, Djinn & Tonic skin and a nom in her mouth is from Sanu. Loki is noming on a mousie mouth cupcake by Sanu and is wearing Maschienenwerk skin, Discord Designs hair, Peppermint Blue top, DV8 capris, Truth shoes, Ginza necklace and her practically trademark tattoos from Grendel’s Children.

Not everyone is happy with all this sparkly cuteness, of course. It is not, how shall we say this… very manly. *grins* Here we have Janos sulking at the fence, refusing to go to the guuuuuuurly area. Obviously the bubbles might give him cooties.

This from a guy with a panda cupcake on his shoulder… anyways! He’s sulking behind a fence from iTuTu, the inviting lanterns are from Zacca and they frame the path from Fox Labs. The flowers are from iTuTu and the trees in the distance are from Fox Labs. You all know by now that the bubbles are Happy Mood. ^_^ Janos is wearing an awesome sad panda tee from Before Sleep, panda cuppycake on his shoulder from Sanu, GQ Fashions pants, Discord boots, Kosh belt, Nosotr@s tattoos on his arms and Sassy Kitty Designs gloves. His skin is from Corrupted Innocence, pose from Snooky’s Poses and hair from Black Maria.

Even Aleksander, who has reluctantly set all this cuteness down for us, more or less escaped to the roof when requested to pose within it. Eventually he agreed to do sort of royal pose, especially after Vanis said he’d help the impression with a bodyguard pose! He’s obviously an elven assassin protecting the Black King. <.<

Now, the only exception to the rule is of course Vanis. He doesn’t object to the sparkles, he thinks they accentuate him! This is why when Aleksander turns his back, Vanis sneaks off to woo his protegee. Or some such. Yesyes, we have way too much with all of this. *grins*

Athelia called this combination of looks ‘seducing angels down from heaven’. It was pretty appropriate, I must say. Athelia is all ethereal in a gown from Evie’s Closet, wearing Trap skin, ETD hair and Illusions ears. Vanis, on the other hand, is very much flesh and blood in his Excess skin, Calico Ingmann hair, Buried ears and DeLa armwarmers. He’s also wearing RFyre pants, Blitzed belt and tattoos. The snake one around his neck is from Demise, the arm ones are from Crimson Shadow.

Here’s the inevitable result of the dancing, of course. Athelia’s gown might have turned red, but it is still from Evie’s Closet! Not that we love Evie’s gowns or anything, noes. <.< Her now-black hair is from Sky Everett, but otherwise she’s the same. Vanis returned to his demented colour palette with the Excess hat hair and League gloves. The summer festival decorations are from Nonino, the tree and hill are from Happy Mood, lantern from Zacca, white flowers from iTuTu and red flowers from MiaSnow.

It’s needless to say that I’m of course having a blast with the surroundings and enjoying the looks, no matter what the boy avis say. Who knows, we might get some sort of steampunk gear factory or scifi ship the next time Aleksander rips the whole sim apart and builds anew, so better enjoy it while we can!
