Early Shop Catches the Goth

So there I was, making creepy carnival characters for Bronxie when I got an urge to blog them, too. This is all about that urge. This is also all about why I was making the said looks. See, there will be World Goth Fair in May (15-31) and the sims are themed around dark carnival. The fair is about all things goth, not just carnival, but there was a need for creepy posters so I poked my inventory until these characters fell out.

This is obviously not any sort of official poster, just my own fiddling to have fun with the looks. For any official information, please keep an eye on the News from the Loft. As for the title of the post: I know this is too early a warning for shoppers, but this is prime time for the shops to sign up for the fair. The booths are running out fast, especially the bigger ones, so you might want to hurry! Your shop doesn’t have to be gothic to sign up, only the content you bring to the fair has to be appropriately dark. Oh, there’s also a related hunt for the whole of May and for that your shop should be gothic.

The poster is obviously photoshop filtered and since I was just having fun with character creation some items might not be available any more, but I’ll list the credits regardless.

Obligatory Elves Are Obligatory~

They’re everywhere! Santa hats, reindeer horns, candy canes, red lingerie, shiny lights… the grid turns into red and green for December. There’s a lot of hunts, events and just straightforward wonderful gifts by designers to make sure your avatar is appropriately dressed. I swear, you could make full 24 looks out of everything that is out at the moment, but here’s just three random yule girls~

And then Santa Roo will appear in the night and bring lots of noms to all the good little roolings…  Of course I had to take pictures with roos, too! I got height-appropriate lil table tree for them from LISP Bazaar, as well as the rug, gingerbread cookies and the couch. There’s a big xmas market going on for all your decorating needs. The house is by Kukuvaya from Project Themeory. I couldn’t resist its multitude of wonderfully decorated and shadowplay-workable windows. <3

…who apparently refuse to go to bed and insist waiting up for the mythical Santa Roo, of course. The adorable hood with the lil horns and birdy and whatnot is from DP Yumyum. It’s so not Sonya, but it was so adorable that I just had to have it. For the roos! Or something. It comes with a blonde hair or without a hair, so of course I added one of my black bobs (this one by LOQ Hair) to it and just modded it to fit. So much love for modable things, resizers really do not cut it for things like this. The pants are by League from the Four Corners Event. Shoes by Lassitude & Ennui, ring by .( bewildebeest )., face tattoo by White Widow (With Love, Again Hunt).

Checking who has been naughty or… ohwait. This is SL. Do we -have- anyone who is anything but that? Definitely not in this Gothmasbread House by Urban Forge! It’s a prize in Gothmas by Gaslight Hunt and very fitting for anyone with a sweet tooth and a dark sense of humour. The outdoorsy elf has a hat & hair combo by Zeus (group gift), a mesh sweater by Loulou&Co (Christmas Hunt prize), skirt from the pile of presents in Sn@tch, tights by Aoharu and boots by MiaSnow.

The make-up is by M.O.C.K. Cosmetics, their prize in Gothmas by Gaslight Hunt. The coffee mug that the elfy is sharing with a squirrel is by Sweet Leonard & Needful Things, as is the sheep she is hiding behind her back in the first outdoorsy picture. The rings and the horns are also hunt prizes by them from  Where is… Hunt and Save the Animals Hunt. First outdoorsy pose by Striking Poses, the second by TeaSoup.

Anyone who makes a bad pun about tarts and Santa will get it in their face. The tart, I mean. The one on the bed. With strawberries.  This look is dedicated to Ely in defeat. She challenged me to find a sexy santa outfit of awesome and in the end I just put together things that weren’t really meant to be santa-ish at all. The body suit by {bilo} is awesome, though. It’s their Gothmas by Gaslight Hunt prize and I used it with the roos above as well, since it works perfectly as a modest top when need be! The foxy is by Ohmai from Collabor88. It’s gorgeous, it’s wonderfully textured, it looks like fur. Why, oh why are 90% of the fur-trimmed santa outfits in the grid still fullbright glowing time capsuled from 2006 style creations? Someone -please- make a current santa girl of awesome!

Fine, so it is a mistletoe on the bed, sue me. Now to wait for the Santa to arrive…  The bed is a gift from { Mole End } and the stocking and tart are from LISP Bazaar. You can catch a glimpse of stockings by Sn@tch and socks by Paradisis if you squint thataway. The hair is by Love Soul and the horniness is provided by Schadenfreude, one of their old gifts I had hoarded away. I kept Sonya’s default League-skin on in all the pictures, as well as the Redgrave lashes. I changed eye colour sometimes, but all the eyes are from Poetic Colors. (Psst, they have a sale going on at the moment, go shop!) The eye make-up is by Sorry.Asia and the luscious lipstick on the tart and the roo girl is by M.O.C.K. Cosmetics. First tart pose by Ploom, the second by Glitterati.

52 Colours: Chartreuse

Ohey, it’s been a week already and it’s time for another colour! This time it’s chartreuse. The colour is apparently named after a French liqueur. It’s between yellow and green and very, very bright. I pondered between cyberwear, bright club-disco outfit and then I thought that for a name like Miss Chartreuse, neither of them would be good enough.

Miss Chartreuse needed to be French, fancy and just a touch on the intoxicating, almost poisonous side. The hair by MiaSnow is hardly traditional court ‘do, but I figured that Miss Chartreuse is wild and dangerous enough to pull off the green sorceress look. The dress is by Evie’s Closet and the jewelry by .( bewildebeest )., much love sent to Coyo’s direction again. She poses in a a bloody mess skydome by Fallen Gods Inc., my go-to for dark stone wall backgrounds.

I also got this image of her tapping men with her fan and going ‘La, sir.’ It doesn’t really mean anything, I’ve just got stuck with both the phrase and the image thanks to Nanny Ogg explaining to Magrat that that’s what mysterious ladies do at the balls. Um. In the Discworld novels by Terry Pratchett. The fan is from one of the old Steam Hunts, but SL had eaten the creator’s name. Sadness. Bandwagon

I’m hopping on one. Well, after I’ve got my coffee. The bandwagon in question is of course 2ndhub. Apparently a lot of people had Facebook-profiles for their avatars and Facebook went and deleted them. I’m way too much of a private person to link Facebook to my SL, but the new hangout that is just for SL avatars seems like a fun thing. They report having had over 400 newcomers after this FB stunt, so good for them! Anyways, friend me if you wanna~

As for that coffee, pay close attention to the rings in this picture:

Aren’t they the best thing ever? They’re by Bewildebeest and the moment I saw them I was already half-materialized in her shop after the teleport, waving my linden wallet at the vendor. After trying them on and looking around I realized I was actually in the PixelDolls main store and I also realized I hadn’t re-subscribed after my latest gaming break. So I did and also found pretty freebies! The shirts in both pictures are from those. The bedhair in this picture is a freebie from booN and the shorts by Sn@tch. The sugar espresso she’s crawling toward is a freebie from Sugar Mill Poses and the pose is by Niqotine Poses. The wonderful caffeine addiction house is by Firefly Fashions. I think it was a hunt prize from one of the old Addiction Hunts. Here’s the top of the house… well, with an added wagon by Zacca.

Yes, there’s an improvised coffee shower and pool in the bandwagon. The white thing in the corner is a gigantic sugarcube. The mini-mini skirt & one stocking are by Sn@tch, from one of the old Black Bacchanals. …do they still arrange them? I haven’t seen any mentioned since my latest return. The boots are by MiaSnow from Happy When It Rains Event. The guitar and the pose with it are by Glitterati and the necklace is a subscribo-gift by Bewildebeest. There’s two tattoo layers, an eye make-up one by The Plastik and an actual face tattoo (group gift) by Fallen Gods Inc. Hair by Sky Everett, one of my old favorites. Skin (League) and eyes (Poetic Colors) are the same in both pictures.

…and then back to boxing things, hurray for virtual spring cleaning!

52 Colours: Pink

Pink is pretty much the doom song for me. Personally I think that no one beside girls under the age of five should be allowed to wear it. However, when I tread in an unknown territory that I’m not too fond of, I rather go overboard with it than try to make it sensible. There’s nothing sensible about pink!

Thus Miss Pink is actually of the opinion that all the people in sensible clothes should eat cake. And cupcakes. And tart. And cookies. Preferably with strawberries included. Possibly whipped cream. Why yes, I did turn pink into decadence and actually had a lot of fun while doing so!

All of the actual clothing pieces – corset, top and socks – are by Sn@tch. I had been waiting for some strange pastel tone that I never use to come up so I could yoink these corsets for it, they’re so perfect for adding huge hairdo and going all pompadour. The hair is by BC322 (lucky board) and absolutely hilarious, taking the art of sticking-odd-things-in-your-hair to new levels! The pearls are by DECO (short ones), Diapop (the straight hanging ones), Milk Motion (over the shoulder and down the back) and Shiny Things (draped over the shoulder and down the arm). I dyed both Milk Motion and Shiny Things pearls and turned some feathers transparent from the Milk Motion ones. The pearls on the gloves received same treatment, dyed them pink and clicked off full-bright. The gloves are by Bygone Beauty.

Skin is by Heartsick, eyes by Umedama Holic, make-up by Kosh, lashes by Redgrave, heartstickers by MiaSnow and the monocle with gummibears by Sanu. As for the noms, there’s a cookie jar by Magic Nook and a teetering tower of teacups by Ingenue (meant to be worn as a hat, an old Kawaii Hunt prize). The rest of the noms are by Poche, except the mouth nom on a fork by Evie’s Closet. The bed is by Falln and the background is the front of a skybox by Lo*momo.

Spring Flowers

I went to Poche today to stalk their lucky board for delicious strawberry cake noms. I was determined to make a post related to them somehow, but instead I ended up playing with the flower freebies they had. Then I found the fun vine prop & pose by LAP from the Seasons Hunt. Then I decided it needed more flowers… and then I just kept adding and adding…

Yes, the picture is again taken outside the love shack by MiaSnow (Stash Bash hunt). I just love the wooden texture of it on the outside. The table is by LISP (The Seasons Hunt) and the birdhouse is by La Flat (Unknown Hunt). The blue birdy is by Happy Mood and all the flowers in pots and glasses are freebies from Poche.

The worn flowers are a mix of LAP, December and Atomic Bambi with an additional Evie’s Closet wreath (the smaller one). Hair and earrings by Sky Everett, eyes by Poetic Colors, lashes by Redgrave, skin by League and shoes by G Field.

Hoppy Bunday!

I thought I was already done with Easterish posts with all the peeping, but nooo… had to find cute must-blog bunnies still. So here, a quickie bun post!

You didn’t think that bunnies just wiggled their noses, now did you? The delightfully spring appropriate love shack is by MiaSnow from the Stash Bash Hunt. The basket with a bunny is an Easter gift by Baffle and so adorable. The egg-hatching bunny on top of my head is a hunt prize from Sanu, a part of the Cupcakes sim Easter hunt. And my most favorite bunny is of course Latte, my very first Ozimals bunny and these days also the only one. She’s an elder lady now, over 400 days, but still as interested in fashion posing as ever. The jewelry is by Mariposa. I wish she’d start creating and selling things again, her stuff is so awesome. <3 Dress by MALT, skin by League, hair by Waka & Yuki, eyes by Poetic Colors, lashes by Redgrave and the bunnyhugging pose from Poses for Prose and Poetry.

How do your pixels live?

I think it says something about the human mind that in the world where we can be anything we want, we often create most wondrous fantasy avatars, who then have homes with bedroom, living room, kitchen and bathroom. The very least. I have been plotting a full-freebie post about a fantasy avi, but I’m seriously having trouble finding a freebie skybox and/or other environment base for that avi to live in. Where as I could kit a dozen of different styled human avis and their houses with freebies. Especially now!

Putting my rambling aside for the moment to introduce the SL House & Garden Hunt! The blog is here and the beginning location is here. There’s 50 shops involved, all ridiculously high quality and the organization was practically flawless. By the time I started it, it was smooth, effortless and fun. It also did what only the very best of hunts do anymore — introduced me to several shops I had never heard of, but immediately fell in love with. I do not go through too many hunts these days, not thoroughly. I admit that I handpick, either based by blog posts or because I know I like a certain shop’s style and quality. There simply are too many hunts going on at any given moment. However, this one I did from beginning to the end and it might end up being on the top of the list based on how much stuff from a hunt I -keep-. So very warmly recommended. <3

This beach house from Starwind Homes is my favorite from the houses and skyboxes in the hunt. It is interestingly built, has a wonderful colour scheme and even paintings matching it. The window sill has a couple of pillows for lounging upon, but I used the floor pillow from {what next} instead. I decorated the window sill with two bonsai trees from Organica, candles from Ambiance, ickle so-cute-it-kills tulip from LISP Bazaar and a little book pile from .SunnyM.

You can see more books from Aria on a window sill on the left, right next to the mostly yellow chair and table from Art Dummy. I set a bunch of fun make-up products from Dutchie on the table. Far back — somewhat hidden my by skirt — is a hacienda lounging rug with pillows from Ambiance (colour-change <3) and a lamp from Melia. Up in the ceiling is a ventilator from Cleo Designs. The paintings on the right are a part of the house, but beneath them is a canvas trio from Aria and Kessel table from Second Spaces.

The dress brings me to another hunt alert for August: No Strings Attached Hunt, for all you doll lovers. The blog is here. Orange and beige aren’t usually my colours (except possibly in steampunk looks <.<), but this dress was way too cute to pass. Not to mention conveniently matching to all this orange in the house. Oh, and it’s from Broken Doll. ^_^ Hair is from Curious Kitties, eyes from Poetic Colors, apple in her hand from Shade — none of which are a part of any present hunts. She’s wearing a lovely key jewelry set from Violet Voltaire, complete with a doll key, also a part of the NSA Hunt. I know, I know, not really visible, but I wanted to mention them just in case. The skin is from Nightshade and it’s a part of another interesting hunt going on at the moment, but I’ll ramble more about it in just a few pictures~

I blame the scarecrow. It just sort of automatically set the vibe slightly strange, mayhaps even creepy. Just a touch of it~ The scarecrow and the garden where my rogue rabbits are busy noming are from Herbalys. The grass is from MiaSnow and it’s tintable. It’s white, I added some green to it to match the rest of the scene. The picnic table is from Phi and the waffle maker on it from Reek. The yucca plant in the bottom right corner is from Blonde. The whole little garden scene is set into a tree sky garden from Zacca.

The slightly eerie broken dollie is enjoying the mood swing from Belle Belle. The broken doll skin is from F’ed Up, a part of the NSA Hunt. The dress is Blue Belle from Deviance, I believe it was in the lucky cupcake. Shoes are from Grim Bros and they’re my favorite dollie shoes ever, such details. <3 The hair is from 69 (not free) and there’s Sounds of Nature headphones on her head, complete with little butterflies and all… the latest Themeory product from Tweedle.

Slightly darker and more modern dollie here, lounging on a pillow from UrbanizeD. Most of the things on the background are from Designer Prims. (The chair on the right, the taller table, all the things on it and the books under it, to be precise.) The wall decal that I shrunk and set under the window is from {what next}, the smaller table with candles on it is also from UrbanizeD and the collection of books and tasty looking drink and glass is dubbed ‘clutter’ and is from .SunnyM. The movie clapper is a part of a director’s chair set from Tasty and the skybox itself is from Barcode.

The Hellsing Manga, the bright red spot in the near monochrome room is from Atypical and a part of the Industry District’s opening celebration hunt. It runs until August 12th and you’re looking for tiny gears in corresponding shops, here’s the ride. The Nightshade skin in the first picture is from this hunt. Other things from the hunt in this picture are the tattoos from Endless Pain, lip piercing from Little Boy Blue, industrial fall out goggles from Forsaken and the eyes — what little you can see of their gleam — from Eye Factory. The skin and the outfit are both from the latest Black Bacchanal — skin by Nomine and outfit by Blue Blood. The hair is from Exxess Designs (not free).

So many hunts going on and I’ve barely scratched the surface again. @.@

Monsters in Your Head — At Least in Your Hair~

The second run of Crazy Arse Hair Hunt has started, huzzah! The beginning location is in The U-Neek. You can pick up the SLURL list to the participating shops from the hunt poster there. The shops are not listed in any kind of order and there are no hints. However, I had to return the second time to only three shops, so it wasn’t too tricksy. The theme was ‘monster’, so there were plenty of spiders and snakes crawling over the hairs. o.o

This lovely little thing was called Lunch. I’d personally call it either Omnomnom or Braaiiiins~  The snacking alien is from Griddie, the skin is from Fallen Gods Inc. and the picture was taken in a skybox from PR!TTY. Obviously only the hairs are from the hunt, the rest I dug up from my bottomless inventory of dooom.

This hair from Battle Angel really -is- alive, its shiny tendrils moving slightly. It came in several hues, but this was such a glow fest that I couldn’t resist. Very star-creature alien vibe. Skin is one of Heaven Sella’s and the wonderfully creepy eyes are from Absentia. The picture was taken in a skybox from Not Too Shabby.

Here’s one of the snake hairs — this one by Cilian’gel. The snakes were moving. <.< The skin is by Frick, her new dollarbie wearable demo. The neko eyes worked fine for the snake lady and are from Urban Dare. The picture was taken in a Darkwood Gazebo from S&C Designs.

The monster from Curious Kitties is obviously of more adorable kind. ^_^ The hair had awesome hornesque spikes on the back/sides, but I liked this pose so much that you have to go and get the hair yourselves to see them! I found myself really liking this jewelry and metal flower decorated strange little pigtail thing from La Boheme. I combined it with a skin from Pink Fuel, lashes from Sky Everett and eyes from Vision to add to the strange silvery-grey shy cuteness of it. The skybox is the same Voodoo Child one from Not Too Shabby. It’s a skybox that just keeps on giving! <3

This is probably my favorite of the hairs this run, as surprising as it might be. I know it’s pink! But… but… it has a partridge in it. Seriously. o.o It’s called Partridge in a Hair Tree and is by Miasnow. I used the latest group gift skin from Rotten Toe with it, as well as eyes from Poetic Colors and the lashes from Dimbula Rose. The picture is taken in the small hanami box from Clematis. Can we say ‘kawaii’? Yes, yes we can.

There were just over 50 shops in the hunt and plenty of crazy to go around, so grab the strange things to wear on your head while you still can!

La Vie Kawaii~

Also called ‘how we moved from a gothic manor into a garden cottage and squeed~’. Now, I’m going to try to pretend that this isn’t a completely self-indulgent post about home and hearth and bunnies, and all the avatars who run around in the said home, but… yeah. But hey. I am filling a gaping hole in the blog-verse by blogging about garden and yard items! There is so much awesome out there on the grid and no one ever blogs about it. I shall! Oh so reluctantly, yes. *coughs*

So let us start with the girl trio running amok on the grounds, here comfortably posing on top of the bubble chairs from Happy Mood~

The background scenery you see in every picture is this awesome megaprim with windy moors on it. It’s from Two Moon Studios and keeps up our immersion of not at all being situated near random shops or other people. Noes, we live in solitude (and cuteness) somewhere far, far away. The hills with big trees on them are also from Happy Mood. As for what we’re wearing… on the left is Sonya with Rotten Toe dress, Grim Bros shoes, C&D Benelli tights, Nightshade neck ribbon, Curious Kitties hair, Bastchild wrist corsage, Djinn & Tonic skin and an umbrella from Weather! or Not?. The yard is wonderful place for lounging about and having picnics. Who needs a kitchen table when you can do this?

That’s Loki and Sonya and a poor SL-bugged Happy Mood bunny. That or he’s getting into the Ozimals-mood and has decided he’s a mutant with black ears. <.< I’ll get into what we’re noming in just a moment, but first look at the scenery. How pretty is that? There’s mushrooms from New Trails, trees from Fox Labs, sparkly bubble chairs from Happy Mood, elven light tree branch thing from Forest Floor and of course the magically lit ground which is a mix from the products of Happy Mood and iTuTu. Sonya’s pose is from Ana_mations and Loki’s from Niqotine.

The lovely Japanese lunchbox setting is from Love Soul. It has two different caterings that you pick by touching it. The sushi roll mats (one open, one rolled) are from Sanu, the cookie jar is from Magic Nook and gives cookies when you click it, the tray is from Kinema no Tsuki, the coffee pot on it from Oblonski and the apple pie slices and cups on it from Falln. Sonya is wearing frilly shorts by LeeZu, top by Sn@tch, Waka & Yuki hair, Yabusaka sandals, Djinn & Tonic skin and a nom in her mouth is from Sanu. Not everyone is happy with all this sparkly cuteness, of course. It is not, how shall we say this… very manly. *grins* Here we have Janos sulking at the fence, refusing to go to the guuuuuuurly area. Obviously the bubbles might give him cooties.

This from a guy with a panda cupcake on his shoulder… anyways! He’s sulking behind a fence from iTuTu, the inviting lanterns are from Zacca and they frame the path from Fox Labs. The flowers are from iTuTu and the trees in the distance are from Fox Labs. You all know by now that the bubbles are Happy Mood. ^_^ Janos is wearing an awesome sad panda tee from Before Sleep, panda cuppycake on his shoulder from Sanu, GQ Fashions pants, Discord boots, Kosh belt, Nosotr@s tattoos on his arms and Sassy Kitty Designs gloves. His skin is from Corrupted Innocence, pose from Snooky’s Poses and hair from Black Maria.

Even Aleksander, who has reluctantly set all this cuteness down for us, more or less escaped to the roof when requested to pose within it. Eventually he agreed to do sort of royal pose, especially after Vanis said he’d help the impression with a bodyguard pose! He’s obviously an elven assassin protecting the Black King. <.<

Now, the only exception to the rule is of course Vanis. He doesn’t object to the sparkles, he thinks they accentuate him! This is why when Aleksander turns his back, Vanis sneaks off to woo his protegee. Or some such. Yesyes, we have way too much with all of this. *grins*

Athelia called this combination of looks ‘seducing angels down from heaven’. It was pretty appropriate, I must say. Athelia is all ethereal in a gown from Evie’s Closet, wearing Trap skin, ETD hair and Illusions ears. Vanis, on the other hand, is very much flesh and blood in his Excess skin, Calico Ingmann hair, Buried ears and DeLa armwarmers. He’s also wearing RFyre pants, Blitzed belt and tattoos. The snake one around his neck is from Demise, the arm ones are from Crimson Shadow.

Here’s the inevitable result of the dancing, of course. Athelia’s gown might have turned red, but it is still from Evie’s Closet! Not that we love Evie’s gowns or anything, noes. <.< Her now-black hair is from Sky Everett, but otherwise she’s the same. Vanis returned to his demented colour palette with the Excess hat hair and League gloves. The summer festival decorations are from Nonino, the tree and hill are from Happy Mood, lantern from Zacca, white flowers from iTuTu and red flowers from MiaSnow.

It’s needless to say that I’m of course having a blast with the surroundings and enjoying the looks, no matter what the boy avis say. Who knows, we might get some sort of steampunk gear factory or scifi ship the next time Aleksander rips the whole sim apart and builds anew, so better enjoy it while we can!
