Gray Curlique

Wear Gray for a Day event has started, providing awesome stuffs from over 80 designers to benefit American Brain Tumor Association. My absolute favourite from all the charity vendors was this skin by .{Rue}. — appropriately gray, but with wonderful curlique fantasy markings, like power explosions beneath her skin.

I matched this seemingly exploded hairdo by ~{frou-frou}~ from Crazy Hair Hunt to it, since it seemed to go with the theme. After that I had to style everything with curliques – like the dress by The Plastik (a part of their dollarbie in the Wear Gray for a Day event). I love how the dress stretches onto the thigh.

Lookit, even the eyes are all squiggly! (A part of the aforementioned Plastik dollarbie.) The earrings by Bliensen + MaiTai are a part of the hoard of discount shinies they have available in The Black Market. Go raid them all, that’s what I did! I went slightly crazy with make-up layers, there’s three by Nuuna’s Skins in this – I just had to get the theme going on around the eyes as well!

Escher in Epoch

It’s been a long time since I’ve been so thoroughly impressed by an event as I am by EPOCH-Legend. The designers have really embraced the three themes — Art of Escher, Beast and Clowning — and produced things that stand out. Art, quirk, quality, strong points of view. All four areas are worth visiting for the builds alone and once the sims get slightly less populated, they are going to be wonderful places for taking pictures in. I also love the way they made a handy window-shopper blog of all the things.

My first purchase that I knew I simply had to have was nordari.’s ratio fractus. The white surfaces, the water areas with random little boats, the Escher-stairs — a building taken apart and put randomly together again. Surreally fantastic and so very fitting in SL. Virtual worlds do not have to mimic our own reality, after all. I wish more designers did work that reminds us of that.

The second must-have was these Escher-tights by ISON. I fully admit that this photoshoot is pretty much about the tights. They weren’t so promising as a vendor texture, but the moment I saw someone wearing them and how they worked on an actual avatar, my jaw dropped. The rest of the look is built around them, keeping things simple not to clash with them or become too much, but playing a little with greyscale and strong lines.

The Metamorphosis-dress by Epoque is also from the event. I was tempted to buy it in another colour to show off the texturing better, but I knew this one I’d actually use a lot. You can never have too many well-made short black dresses, after all. Quick note about the star-make-up: M.O.C.K. Cosmetics has a fun fantasy make-up gatcha going on, feel free to bankrupt yourselves! I know I did.

52 Colours: Apricot

Meh at all the bland pastels. Meh, I say! Miss Apricot agreed with me. I told her that apricot was surely some sort of girly flowing romantic dress colour and she hissed at me. Then she locked herself in the attic and refused to come down so I had to take pictures of her in there, instead.

She has a cosy little reading corner arranged in the attic of the house by (TLND) from Poupee Hunt. The comfy pillows with the book are by The Family Jewels, the old notebooks are by POST and the coffee mug on them by Art Dummy! The hair with the hat by Red Queen is really what nailed Miss Apricot’s personality. I knew that exact moment who she was. No stilettos for her, espadrilles by Gos instead. I couldn’t resist the .( bewildebeest ). ring though, it matched so nicely.

After a long moment of wibbling, Miss Apricot deigned to stand up, but she was still reading a book by Slow Kitchen. The shirt that actually is the proper colour for this week is from a dress by PixelDolls… although by the time you read this I think it’s not available anymore, what with the big retirement sale having ended. Can’t wait to see what Neph comes up with now! The capris are by The Plastik. Yes, still going through that giant pile of gifts. Miss Apricot has several fun things on her walls: painting by Dreamscapes Art Gallery, medieval map by Oriolus Oliva, steampunk dragon by DragonLady Designs and the board covered with notes by Nordari. The yellow little purse in the pillow pile is by Ohmai.

I momentarily tempted her wrath and yoinked the book away just so we could have a closer look at the glasses by Amaranthus and the necklace by .( bewildebeest ). — the latter is a subscribo gift. In the background you can see a sideboard bookshelves by Kusshon, a DnD Player Handbook by *Boof. and a bamboo planter by Arctic Greenhouse. The cute little bamboo is a prize in a memory game there. Miss Apricot has a skin by The Plastik, eyes by Poetic Colors and eyeliner & tattoo lashes by Miamai. She also has a pose by Striking Poses that tells me I should hurry up and give her book back!

52 Colours: Lemon

Did I mention already that this has been a lazy week? I did? Oh. Well. Miss Lemon got to suffer take advantage of it and just lounge about in the sun with her namesake fruit. As obvious and easy as you can get, ‘m afraid, but at least she seems to be enjoying herself.

The fruit fetish pose setting is a freebie by (*chanimations and it comes with various lemon-lime pieces attached to the skin. Miss Lemon is noming a lime by Nordari, though.

The yellow-orange beach outfit is an old hunt prize by DG Innovations. The shoes are an old subscribo-gift by Shiny Things. The fruit hat was a freebie by Enigma Hair from Hair Fair. Bracelet is a freebie from .( bewildebeest ). and the ring is an old hunt prize by Sweet Leonard & Needful Things. Skin is by Pink Fuel, eyes by Poetic Colors, lashes by Redgrave and hair by Elikatira. The teacup with lemon is by Rusalka Writer and the pretty flittering butterflies are a part of the group gift from Alirium Gardens. Otherwise there’s pretty shrooms by New Trail and garden flowers by Happy Mood in the background.

Let’s hope the lemons keep her awake, dozing off in the sun can be so very unhealthy.
