Some prefer it right where it is, much more interesting conversation to be had that way. After all, decapitation sprees might be entertaining for a moment, but after that it’s endless boredom. One must cultivate their pleasures and learn to balance between them. A spared neck today is entertainment tomorrow.

T is for Tavern

It is the center of any town and the beginning of countless adventures. You can meet all sorts of people in there, from townsfolk to travellers passing by. There’s respectable wives and tradeswomen handling their business or perhaps looking to hire some help

There’s the barmaids and serving wenches milling about, occasionally dropping something not too important to get an excuse to lean down and pick it up: it’s good for the tips.

Perhaps even the elusive members of the local clergy — or whatever spiritual organization should there be present in the town — looking for help in a quest of utmost importance.

Whatever you are looking for, tavern should be the first place to check: the very least you’ll find pleasant company and good drinks and that’s already worth of a quest, isn’t it?

The Muses has just released three new dresses for the more commoner styled medieval women: Tika, Tansy and Tysha. The furniture by ~Libertine~ is really meant to be a Warrior Hall, but I used it as a tavern here. It’s available in the current round of Genre.

Rainha

There are days when no amount of polite diplomacy will do. Rainha is experienced enough to know that any good queen needs both armour and a weapon sometimes.

She did not get where she is by laying about in beds waiting for a random prince to come over to kiss her or losing her slippers. She might appreciate partnership and company, but no one needs to save her: she already saved herself.

There’s no laws about warrior queens having to look manly: Rainha certainly doesn’t. Impeccable outer appearance has always been an important part of leadership, after all. Don’t believe the vile rumours coming from her fortress lair, all lies and slander! Just because she likes huge updos and the colour red doesn’t mean she’d be a villain. Stereotypical propaganda!

Rainha is a combination of armour and leather dress and it’s a new release by The Muses. The dress and the cape are rigged, the armour is made out of garment layers and the rest of the attachments are non-rigged for re-sizing.

Gothmas by Gaslight

I’ve always loved that word, Gothmas, ever since I heard Bronxie use it the first time. Gothmas by Gaslight has existed as an event for a few years now, although this year it has changed from a hunt to a gacha festival. Less camming, more addictive playing! The Anais gown by Volstead is perfect for those who like their holidays strong red while still gliding about in style. It also goes fantastically together with the Horror Holiday necklace by House of Rain, like the two were meant to be worn together. I added some blood red lipstick from Pin Me Down’s gacha and stiletto-slid all around the area, admiring the ice sculptures and carousel. Speaking of the necklace, it truly is one of my new favourite things ever. Enough for me to drop all the clothes and start taking pictures the moment I got my grabby hands on it. I cannot wait to see all the separate combinations and colours possible. Or the accompanying pieces in earrings, bracelets and rings…

This Is Halloween

I was just listening to it and since the official wonderful excuse to blame all the costumes on it is soon gone, I wanted to use it. I also wanted to make Halloween looks that are less costumeish and more approaching fashion. For this purpose I went to Zibska, because Zib’s creations always dance within the borders of couture and eccentric, perfect to either style up to avant garde or in this case: turn to Halloween.

Aliwera has a mesh skirt and extreme middle and head attachments, curving in gothic spikes that you could style for a spider queen, but I went more into basic classic noir glamour with it.

Ariane turned into a bone dancer, but it could be styled into a period dress or kawaii lolita look effortlessly. I simply could not resist Nuuna’s skeleton skin, so perfect for Halloween. If you leave the dress away, you have a PG skeleton skin to run around in.

Felicienne turned into a fashionable jester. Add an axe for Halloween parties and you’re set! The best part about shopping fashion for costumes is that you have outfits you can use all around the year, it’s simply a matter of how you style them.

52 Colours: Charcoal

Miss Charcoal is made out of two old and one brand new favourite of mine. The W.P. Nightmare outfit by Bare@Rose has classic goth vampire vibe to it without being pure textureless black. Yes, it’s vampire time again. I shall blame Halloween while knowing none of you believe it: any season is a vampire season!

Sky Everett’s Temptress hair has always been my go-to for when making classy vampire women in gowns. It’s Elvira with extra sophistication. As for my new favourite, Izzie’s Fuyu-skin has this special edition available only in The Costume Ball. It comes with several lipsticks, including the red one here.

Speaking of old favourites: the sim is another of them. World’s End Garden continues to provide for all your romantic, poetic goth scenery needs. Less blood and darkness, more melancholy and longing.

Madame Guillotine

Only because “Their heads? Off with them.” felt slightly too long a title. Besides, Madame Guillotine is a perfect character to spawn from the current Twisted Hunt. She could easily be some sort of a spirit of the machine in a supernatural horror movie, hovering about and grinning as the blade keeps coming down, the last thing you’ll ever see.

The guillotine is by Culprit. It’s macabre, perfectly functional and morbidly hilarious at the same time with its leg twitching and kangaroo head in the bucket. The surroundings are the Church of Starry Wisdom by Souzou Eien, showing what happens to the heads afterwards: into the starry abyss gate of monsters!

The red vinyl dress by Sassy!, mesh eyes by -{The Attic}-, skin by Style by Kira and the chess board facial tattoo by Reila Skins are also from the hunt, but I did add a red lipstick by Izzie’s and blood tattoo layer by The Plastik to the mix. Boots, hair and poses are also not from the hunt.

Ameno Dori Me

The song was stuck in my head the moment I saw Nomine‘s new release, Ameno. I went looking for a translation and found several, what with it being pseudo-Latin, not the real thing. Thus I’m not even trying to guess what they meant with it, but it’s still beautiful. As for the gown, it’s the last one in the series of Munchflower’s limited fantasy gowns and it is gorgeous.

I am absolutely in love with the horns and the headdress, perfect for medieval fantasy royalty especially of slightly more wicked nature. The pearls are a mix of The Muses (shorter necklace and the earrings) and Maxi Gossamer (the hoard of necklaces mixed together).

I went to the World’s End Garden for the pictures, it’s my go-to for gothic beauty. Doesn’t matter if you’re wading in the waters with a huge train, pixel gowns don’t get wet. This skirt is the version without the train, so you can imagine just how big the longer version is.

I’m sure you all know by now that the gowns come complete with lingerie sets of breathtaking lace texturing. I changed from Noir set to Apple both for fun and to match the fripperies with the greenery. Lighter clothing or not, the head dress stays!

Crimson Wyrm

I’m sure I don’t have to go into details about why people are so fascinated by dragons, but I did want to mention that one of my favourite dragon versions has always been those who can assume a human form. A human with a dragon’s nature just seems such an intriguing concept. Strength, power, arrogance, greed, vanity, intelligence, experience, cunning… and for this particular shoot, an apple.

The crimson beauty is one of Nomine‘s new limited editions: the wedding gowns in darker colours. I had already forced Sonya (in disguise) through one wedding shoot, so instead I just went and indulged in the glorious gothic wickedness these gowns can provide. If you are so inclined. Obviously they also work perfectly as wedding gowns as well. (You can always turn the groom into a frog and ditch him out the window to grab the kingdom.)

I confess that I went originally for just an evil sorceress look, but since I ended up in Isle of Wyrms to take pictures, the next step in character attitude was obvious. I walked around the cathedral and then fell into a hole. No, there was no white rabbit. Unfortunately. There was, however, a puzzle room! …yes, I had to solve all the puzzles. Yes, I wandered around in underground tunnels for ages, just exploring. So much fun!

There was plenty of water in the tunnels, so I figured the gown got too heavy for her and the hairdo stopped screaming defiance to the skies. Of course I had to show off the lingerie that comes with the gown, although I changed between sets and instead of crimson went for orchid. I am claiming this as a manifestation of her inner dragonfire simmering lower in the cold, yes. Nothing to do with just liking the purple fripperies more!

52 Colours: Lemon Chiffon

Miss Lemon Chiffon is getting married! Or at least wanting to. Before you all faint, I would like to point out the wording there: Miss Lemon Chiffon is most definitely not Sonya. Period. I just couldn’t resist this gorgeous creation by Munchflower Zaius, especially since it was in a conveniently challenge matching tone. Saved my pastel-avoidant-inventory day completely!

So if you -are- getting married in SL, these limited Ariel-gowns are the perfect solution for you. They come in six different colours, 12 of each are set for sale and once they are gone, Munch will set out a new limited creation instead, so the brides of next year — or even month — can’t wear the same thing.

There’s zillion options starting from the traditional veil and two sizes of skirt (this is the smaller one) to a lace duster, gloves, stockings, shoes, corset and of course the lingerie. Which seems to be the final solution for drawing out a dark, handsome stranger when the wedding gown failed to do the trick…

What? She’s posing in gothic ruins of an abbey for a -reason-. You didn’t think she wanted to marry a good, wholesome boy, hmm? Not while I’m sitting behind the keyboard, thank you very much.
