They all do have their thorns, of course. But what if there is a field of them, a whole sea of vivid blood red beauty? Breathtaking from afar, able to scratch and bleed you when approached.

It takes a wolf’s courage to wade into the roses, ignore the increasing tears, stings and scrapes and take it as the price for the beauty. Thick skin or armor might help the wanderer, but also lessen the actual experience. If you are not stung, how could the vision truly touch you?

Moonlight in the Jungle

Surreal, vivid, alien. Both the horned female covered in intricate scales and the jungle surrounding her. Even the moonlight dancing on her bare skin seems out of this world, tinting her in camouflaging tones.

Perhaps the atmosphere in this world dyes the moonlight different, stronger. Perhaps the plants themselves soak it up and reflect it on the passing creatures. Whatever the reason, this night does not hide anything in the shadows, but reveals, basks and delights in a feast of colours.

The Silence of Yuale Nura

Its frozen, wintry beauty is breathtaking. Or breath-freezing, as winters tend to be. The elven enclave in the treetops of Evensong Woods glows softly in the night of blues and purples, silent and peaceful.

That peace is carefully guarded by the local wood elves, who keep a close watch on any visitors to see how they behave. Perhaps they simply want to make certain no one falls off the bridges or disturbs a hibernating bear with shouting, but perhaps there is something bigger slumbering in the cold.

Whatever the reason for the maintained frozen silence, the elves will never tell. The only response you’ll get is a small smile and a nod of acknowledgement before the polite encouragement to keep your voice down.

One thing elves do not have to worry about at the moment is gear. Self Control

Perhaps it’s easier in cooler tones, the ones providing more insight. Perhaps the distractions floating right in front of your eyes will give your gaze something else to focus on, providing a perspective change. Maybe your lips need to speak the words of wisdom, sifted slowly through the sieve of control.

Maybe it requires a cage of willpower, glowing of the effort to hold still. Perhaps there needs to be self-set bonds keeping you in place. Different people, different methods, but in the end we all need it to weigh situations properly.

Of Demons and Pixies

Often near the opposite ends of the fantasy scale, those two. Dark and light, decadence and innocence, indulging in selfish desires and whims in contrast with selfless wish to aid other beings. That is the classic fantasy scale on which we place human personality traits and wrap them in creatures easier for us to comprehend and understand.

Both forms of fantasy are very popular. In fact, fantasy itself is the default shape of being for a great part of the grid. For those who have never spent a moment in a human coloured skin and for those curious to try on a pair of wings, Genre focuses on fantasy this month. The event just started and will run until February 12th.

Both Pixie and Demon outfits by Fallen Gods Inc. are available in Genre and include outfits for both normal sized avatars and petites for both genders. Both looks come with wings, I just preferred this particular demon with more room for hairstyle. Speaking of which, it’s by Analog Dog and also for sale in Genre. As Winter Falls

It’s time for wool and hats and mittens that I am completely lacking in the pictures. The title comes from a combination of this Winter sweater dress by Geometry and the jewelry set it was inspired by: As Darkness Falls by House of Rain. The sweater dress is available in Gothmas by Gaslight and it is one whole item with the skirt to make sure it moves well together.

The fringe boots are a new release by SAKIDE. They come in several colours full of quirky winterness. The Lumi-hair by Wasabi Pills is available in the current FaMESHed round. With that name I would have bought it no matter how it looked, but it’s adorable with the texture change winter hat. Lumi means snow in Finnish, in case you were wondering.

All I need is some hot coffee now… and those mittens.

Empress by Nacht

A combination of Pale Empress and by Nacht, both of which are featuring in Gothmas by Gaslight. Pale Empress is a new shop making gorgeous gothic creations out of mesh in all of the five standard sizes plus two extra sizes. I must flail about that immediately because one of those, xs+ fits me like a glove. No more cutting off curvier parts to fit in mesh. If you’ve been too top-heavy to live with standard sizes, do try these demos.

The Dreamer-tiara by lassitude & ennui was perfect for the goth empress. The Cake Chandelier earrings by HANDverk gave the royalty a touch of quirkiness, but only if you look close enough to realize that there truly are tiny noms on trays hanging from the ears. Both of these are available in the current round of L’Accessoires. The special Licorice version of the Valerie hair by Wasabi Pills can be found in Together for Sway.

The Ice Queen’s Throne from by Nacht is available in Gothmas by Gaslight, as are all the winter fountains, the latter ones in a gacha. They are all wintry monochrome creations with lovely detailing. The lipstick is from Pin Me Down’s gacha in Gothmas by Gaslight and the pose is from Exposeur’s advent calendar.

Zodiac: Sagittarius

Sagittarius is the sign of straightforward honesty approaching bluntness, journeys of both body and spirit, warm no-nonsense optimism and freedom.

In symbolism Sagittarius are often associated with centaurs or represented by bows and arrows. There’s plenty of explanations for these, from the straight as an arrow forwardness to aiming higher than the bestial human nature, even to just simply galloping across the globe. All of these hold some truth: the Sagittarius do love to travel, speak straight and have a rather strong inner philosopher.

Clothing wise Sagittarius tend to put comfort above fashion and they can often be tomboys in easy-to-wear clothes. They might also mix souvenirs and international moments of shopping from their journeys into the look without a second thought.

There’s warm optimism in the Sagittarius, the belief everything will turn out fine in the end. They will need this attitude to survive their penchant for adventure and never settling for security.

52 Colours: Cotton Candy

I managed to avoid the first idea of something super cutesy, actual cotton candy and silliness overboard and instead almost took the colour seriously. What? You know I have issues with pink. The skin is Pink Fuel’s prize in the With Love <3 Hunt that just started. The vanilla pudding colouring of Wasabi Pills’ Kylee hair was just out in the 50L Fridays and the wreath is the latest group gift by World’s End Garden. It’s in the celebration of renewing the sim and I took the pictures in the new landing area just for that. The Society dress by Volstead was the exact cotton candy tone and worked perfectly for the whole rose-filled scenery. Speaking of, the fading and rose layers and such are all from in-world, I liked the effect of shooting through them.

Ambroise’s Vision

Ambroise goggles are a new release from Zibska and they were so outrageous with all the plumage that my first thought was the Capitol from the Hunger Games. I couldn’t quite pull off Effie though, so I adjusted the look into various darks, letting the goggles and feathers steal the show.

The Plaisance collar that looks like a collection of cubes is also by Zibska and it felt sufficiently cyber to be worn in the future. The top is from an old sale of Miamai’s, but the latex leggings by [ SAKIDE ] are currently available in the Resting Place — Pulse’s Halloween event — if you manage to find them!

I wanted something slightly strange and hinting to the Capitol’s bodymods or at least to more futuristic design to add to the whole, so Grollwerk’s hoof boots it is! Perfect to prance about in while preening in the feathers and watching the world through purple-colored goggles.
