Donna Flora A to Z: O for Opera

A few days ago Cajsa Lilliehook approached her timeline in Plurk with a question if any bloggers wanted to be in a Super Secret Project. Obviously I volunteered immediately. Once I heard what it was all about, I was even more excited. All of us volunteered bloggers would cover Squinternet Larnia’s gorgeous work, going through the whole alphabet of it. I wanted letter C for reasons that soon become obvious, but since it was taken at that point, I picked O and finally had the excuse to buy this Opera Skull jewelry set.

It’s a breathtakingly pretty cameo set of extravagance — with the cameo lady being a skeleton! Vintage couture never married goth so well as here. The set comes with the collar, ring and earrings.

The reason I originally wanted C was this Cage outfit. It’s one of those ‘not possible in RL’ creations that I so love. I pondered doing nude shots with the jewelry, but eventually gave up and just bought this as well, just tried to keep the focus on the jewelry. I had to show it off, though! It makes my steampunk couture instincts squee.

I played around with depth of field to focus on the ring some more and I rather liked the effect.   Sometimes it really takes me by surprise how much you can achieve with SL graphics.

I picked more surreal couture with a dash of goth for my look, but she features gorgeous vintage of several eras and breathtaking showpieces of jewelry. The Importance of Coffee

I confess, I’m a coffee-holic. If I’m afk it is most likely because I’m making more of it. The sweet soothing nectar of the gods that doesn’t ever keep me awake against my will, but without which I’d be yawning constantly. What? I live in a country that is pretty much dark for half a year! We need our coffee!

Thus I’m sure no one is surprised about how much I squeed at the Cafe Hunt. Not only was it full of wonderful cafe setting furniture and noms, there was also maid and waitress outfits all over the place. This particular one by izm. was my favorite, though. The tights by Latte and boots by Lassitude & Ennui were not a part of the hunt, I just added them to complete the look for the awesomeness reasons. The vintage home cafe is by Greeny Beetle, the monkey purse by Epic and the pitcher and the furniture by Baffle!, all from the hunt.

I wanted to also make a look for a customer, and she ended up being rather high vintage style. The Pizazzle mini dress is by {bilo} and the Exile hair and Atomic skin are both from the current Dressing Room Blue. The fascinator is from LaGyo’s sale — at this rate I will own the whole Mademoiselle line soon. The ridiculously delicious looking sweet strawberry pancake tray is by Poche, the coffee break picture by (meberry) and the cafe counter by Zacca.

The skin by Shiva and glasses by Air are from the hunt, but the hair by Love Soul isn’t. I was just in bobbish mood again, so both women ended up in one. Both of them also have Pulcino’s hunt prize eyes, just in different colours. The real star of this particular picture is the cheese cake tray by Nonino, though.

“Yes, I believe I shall be late… for ten… say twenty minutes…”

The gorgeous colour-change necktie by Lassitude & Ennui is a hunt prize as well. The earrings by Miel (subscribo-gift) and fine gloves by The Secret Store are not, but they completed the look so perfectly. The blue phone with the pose as well as the pose in the first picture are from Olive Juice’s closing sale. So much sadness. The hot chocolate fox by [D]oki that I’m pretending is coffee might help in cheering anyone up, though.

Something Old, Something New…

…yeahno, nothing of the rest. This is Halloween! Not any other occasion. Besides, these days the ‘something blue’ part just makes me think of TARDIS. Anyways! Two Halloween looks for fun and amusement. One features one of the old classics that I still like to wear when given a chance and another something that I picked yesterday from the latest round of Project Themeory.

The bone corsetry outfit and masks by Acid & Mala are in Project Themeory’s Halloween round. I added a blood layer by The Plastik and a huge mess of hair by Sky Everett to it. Both the black skin with the white diagonal mask on it and the pure white skin below are by Nuuna’s Skins, as are the black eyes. The scythe is an old hunt gift by J.I.N.X. and the pose is by p4p.

This dress is the very first I ever bought from Dare Designs, somewhere in spring 2009 and I still love it for classic slinky-goth evil looks. <3 The hat is by Grim Bros., the kitty-head candy bowl by Schadenfreude, the spider-ring by .( bewildebeest ). and the spider choker by G Field (a part of the subscribo gift). Eyes by Repulse, hair by Lamb, pose by Olive Juice and the make-up a mix of M.O.C.K. Cosmetics and Frick’s tattoo layers. The house used in both pictures is a group gift by Zacca.

Oh, and yes, I did indulge in filters like candy. For the holiday. <.<

Black Unicorn Cabaret

It’s the name of Voltaire’s current tour and a brilliant name it is! A DJ friend of mine went to see his show a bit ago and is doing a four-hour-special with that as a theme, so obviously I had to figure out something fun to wear for it. As usual I went both literal and overboard.

Tadah, a burlesque unicorn! Or some such. I used Zacca’s Halloween House as the setting, you can still get it for free from the Chestnut Hunt. The feather boa is by VL Wildthings and Sonya tossed it away almost immediately to dance better.

I let Sonya keep her default League-skin, Poetic Colors-eyes and Redgrave lashes, but added a mask tattoo layer by Sn@tch and lip gloss by M.O.C.K. Cosmetics to the look. The hair is by Love Soul and it practically oozes of attitude.

The cute gartered hooves are by Epic from FTLO Shop, the gorgeous unicorn horn is by ~Illusions~ and the tail is by Malfean Visions. It looks like a lantern to Narnia decorating your… tail. Yes. It was a part of an unseelie avatar for the earlier Twisted Hunt.

The body suit by sYs, the fishnet tights by Bad Juju and the gloves with bracelets by Loulou&Co are all old hunt gifts. The first pose is by DARE and the only actual pose I used in these pictures. Sonya told me she wasn’t going to do static pictures for something burlesque, thank you very much. So I started Freestyle shimmy-2 by Ministry of Motion and took the pictures during the rampant dancing about on the balcony. It’s fun, you should try it!

Still Falling~

More cute autumn things! I thought I’d wait a little, but then Chandra Masala of {bilo} dropped cute shirts on me and there I went again, building looks and squeeing my way through the settings. Have you ever noticed how in real life autumn goes from still-sort-of-summer into yey-pretty-colours-for-two-days and then into dark-cold-rainy-misery-for-months? Fortunately in SL the pretty-colours-phase stays all the way until the pretty pixel snow settles in.

See, cutesy shirt is cute! It went perfectly together with my new favorite autumn boots from Lassitude & Ennui and I had to continue the patchwork from the boots to the heart-patched tweed pants by Concrete Flowers. The golden face tattoo is by White Widow and the hair is the latest subscribo-gift by Exile. I love how mesh makes it finally possible to wear long hairs without them clipping through the body. <3 Speaking of hearts, why yes, yes I’m wearing more of Coyo’s shinies in both pictures, .( bewildebeest ). is responsible for all the shinies! The scene is made of a harvest skybox by Umwelt, bed by Art Dummy!, bee bag by Tokidoki (all three from Seasons Hunt) and a pygmy puff by Ohmai Emporium. …yes, I finally had to get one. Too adorable!

There’s a Chestnut Hunt going on in SwayLand and one of the prizes is this adorable garden harvest house by Zacca. I’m standing on the stairs in front of it and added an old stove by Kari (Seasons Hunt) on it to get something warm to drink. The coffee is by Sweet Leonard & Needful Things, though. The scarf by Duboo and the laced top by Kyoot are also from the Seasons Hunt. I matched a skirt by Kyoot to them and then decided to go mostly monochrome with the look, mostly to show off these quirky ghost-tights by {Bingo} that I got from a lucky board. Shoes by G Field, hair by Waka & Yuki and pose by TeaSoup. Both pictures have the default-sonya League-skin, Poetic Colors-eyes and Redgrave-lashes.

No, not in the social media way, but ~twittery bird~ way! Hyasynth updated the lucky birds in Silent Sparrow and so I spent a good while lounging about there yesterday while playing Dragon Age at the same time. Multi-tasking makes the world go round, yesyes.

The fledermaus tattoo comes with the dress and is both cute and quirky. Speaking of, I want to draw your attention to Lord Byron’s Writing Desk ring by .( bewildebeest )., it felt sufficiently gothic and squee to go well with it all. I love all the eccentric awesomeness Coyo drops my way, yes I do. <3

The dress comes in two lengths, full of gorgeous hya-blue tones. The bird cage with a birdy and a butterfly and a chair are a group gift by World’s End Garden and fit perfectly with the gothic twitteriness. The skybox is by Zacca.

The hair is from Magika’s retirement sale and I added a flowery hattish thing by Natural and butterflies by Minajunk to it. The bright make-up is by M.O.C.K.  Cosmetics, eyes by Umedama Holic, lashes by Redgrave and skin by League. Poses in order DARE, Olive Juice and AnaLu.

Return of Fripperies

Well, return otherwise too. Back home, back in my own comfy bed and back to blogging. No, I don’t blog from bed, just saying. Anyways! I returned from my trip just in time for Seldom Blue sale! Seems they’ve moved as well, so make sure to update your landmarks.

I’m so tempted to go and grab this corsetry creation in red and black, as well. So gorgeous. The hair-flower is a part of it. I whipped out my trusty windowed white skybox by Zacca for this and located Glitterati’s Marketplace freebie lapdance chair with champagne for props.

Speaking of fripperies, this creation came with plenty of them, I just stripped them away for a cleaner silhouette. Oh, and see the hair? It’s by Truth in the new Collabor88 event, everything is 88L and the collection changes monthly. As for the  huge blue Bubbles-rings, they’re by .( bewildebeest ). and a part of the silly amount of shinies Coyo dropped on me. <3

Since I was posing about in lingerie, I figured this was the perfect occasion to show off the latest dollarbie by Dead Dollz. You can find it in the same sim as Poise (they’ve also moved lately, update landmarks) and I yoinked it while Mojo was showing the northern lights to me. He also dropped some burlesque poses on me while I was there, so the poses in the last two pictures are by him. The first is a part of the chair. Skin by League, eyes by Poetic Colors and shoes by G Field. At least you can’t complain about the heat this way! …ohwait.

Break from Summer

Soon. I don’t know about you, but I sort of have virtual bikinis and sunglasses coming out of my ears and I’m waiting for the autumn, jackets, tights and boots. However, it is still summer and way too hot so more bikinis it is! I’m also forced going to take a little break from blogging due to a family trip north that’ll last pretty much a week. I’ll yoink computer usage enough to post the new colour during the weekend, but no SL until I come back. Withdrawal.

Enough of that. I did say more bikinis, right? Swimwear, whatever.

This particular bikini and the skirtsy thing are by Viviane Fashion from Summer Feeling Hunt. The strawberry planter by HC Creations and the birdhouse by JoHaDeZ are from the same hunt. The noms and the picnic table in the background are by Nonino, from SwayLand’s Summer Hunt. Hair is the old LeLutka freebie from the Hair Fair.

It’s not a bikini per se, but seriously: it could be. One of the loots from the late gift-shower by The Plastik. The henna tattoo is by Fallen Gods Inc. from Tropical Nights Hunt. Necklace is by .( bewildebeest ). and the hair & sunglasses is an old lucky chair prize by Waka & Yuki. Pose is by Niqotine Poses. As for the barbeque kitchen in the background, it’s by Zacca and all the noms on it by ToRiCo, all of it from the SwayLand’s Summer Hunt. The beach shack is by Tee*fy and it was a prize in the Seasons Hunt. Skin by League and eyes by Poetic Colors as usual.

Bandana Day

Today (Friday 15th) is the end of Hair Fair and also the Bandana Day. The bandana designers had done excellent job and I had actually difficulties choosing which one to wear, so I bought two instead.

This black one by EMO-tions was so full of pearl embroideries that I couldn’t resist it. I accompanied it with a corset and sheer skirt by Sn@tch that I grabbed earlier this week from their Riot Vend. The bracelet is the latest subscribo gift by .( bewildebeest ). and the necklace is one of her latest releases. I wandered into the shop to poke at the gatcha there, but then saw the necklaces and had to have them. So gorgeous. <3 The wagon is by Zacca, the furniture by Dreamscapes Art Gallery (Midsummer Night’s Dream Hunt prize) and the pose by TeaSoup.

The head scarf by LeLutka was another obvious choice. I love the random ropes around it and how it manages to look like you just decided to wrap your hair into a scarf for fashion, not because you had to. The dress is by The Plastik, one of their prizes in This One Time at the Fair Hunt. The necklace is the same as above, just different colour and the ring is by .( bewildebeest ). as well, one of the Arabesque-ones that I love. The chair, rug, flowers and wall-writing are a part of a freebie set by UrbanizeD called Tribute to Minnie Riperton. House is by Zacca, the bunny is by Ragdoll’s Cut (Greedy Hunt prize) and the pose by Poise. The eyes in both pictures are by Shiva (Greedy Hunt), lashes by Redgrave and skin by League.

Corny IV

The fourth Zombie Popcorn Hunt has started! There’s 76 wonderful shops involved and if you join the group you can grab the list of landmarks and hints from the past notices. Begin here. My favorites are from the more strange, dark and quirky offerings of the hunt, but there was plenty of wonderful normal things for everyday use as well!

Obviously you have to have a zombie in a Zombie Popcorn Hunt. This one even -has- the said popcorn although I fear for her coordination. Might be tricksy to get the popcorn out from the small bag, especially with the ickle zombie already noming…

I found the Madworld Park during the hunt and immediately landmarked it to come back for pictures. The zombie girl is wearing an outfit by Severed Garden: armwarmers, armlets, bra, skirt, boots, mouthie and the body scar. I was extremely impressed by it, not only because of the quality but because the resizer script had also stretch options so you can resize it to certain directions only. <3 It was also delightful to notice that they offered both alpha layer and invisiprims for shoes and the tattoo in underwear and tattoo layers. The skin is by Glam Affair, hair by MINA Hair, face blood by V.E.L Cosmetics, zombie stomach wound by Repulse (a part of the first prize of the hunt) and the pose is one of the zombie poses by Captivity Co.

Where you have zombies you also have zombie hunters, it’s the great circle of um… unlife. This particular zombie hunter got an accidental ganguro feel, but I kinda like it.

The hair is not a part of the ZP hunt, it’s by SyDS from the Oh My Stars – April Showers Hunt. The outfit is my second favorite from the hunt, it’s a bloody kimono by Sassy Kitty Designs. Not that you could possibly call that a kimono, except in a very particular anime perhaps. It doesn’t even pretend to have a skirt part by adding a tiny prim. I sort of approve, I hate the teeny tiny prims that will not look good no matter how you set them to fake skirtness. Might as well skip them completely! The outfit comes with a clean version as well and includes shoes, ripped leggings and the chopstick hair pins. The huge three-bladed scythe is by J.I.N.X. and it’s absolutely necessary for a good zombie hunt. The skin is by Filthy and the body tattoo by Arnadi. The spider & web mouthie (what little you can see of it) is by EY:NO and the pose is by Diesel Works.

There’s always some prizes that go into the crazy entertainment of popcorn, stripes and carnival. For this shot I left the park, set out an old hunt prize house by Zacca to work as the background and made a scene with some of the furniture gifts.

The beautiful posing chair is by Tableau Vivant, the black-and-white curtains are by MudHoney and the rest of the bloody couch set is by Noctis. The carnie doll herself has a skin by Nuuna’s Skins, tattoo by Para Designs, top by ANCAYI and socks, gloves and panties by MUKA. The sneakers are by BC322, voodoo doll backpack by Beauty Killer and the tiny tophat by LaGyo. She’s noming a brain munchie by Virtual Insanity and has dropped a movie freak doll by Pinkmare’s House on the floor, although I have a feeling that the doll might start shambling off on her own any moment now. The hair is an old group gift by Curious Kitties and not a part of the hunt. The eyes of all the three girls are by Repulse.

The last day of the hunt is June 15th so you have still a couple of weeks to hunt for popcorn. Get out there and have fun!
