The Bunny Painter

Magic of Oz Holi 2015 Hunt has started and lasts until April 16th. Rabbit Day

It happens every spring: bunny girls appear out of nowhere, wandering around with mysterious baskets with eggs. Are they planting or are they harvesting, one might wonder. Which was first, the bun or the egg? Do they plant the eggs in spring to be harvested as baby bunlings later? Are they responsible for bun-population’s growth like the squirrels tend to trees: by forgetting where they hid their treasures?

Perhaps it’s for the best that we do not know, that we get to simply enjoy the sudden appearance of birdies and eggs, flowers and bunlings, signs of life returning.

After all, it’s better to be completely oblivious in case there’s cunning plots of bunnobility going on. What better time to be crowned as the Leader of All Bunkind than when the population is the largest?

That said: do indulge your bunnies that like to hold odd things on their heads. You never know who you might be talking to!

Frost Flowers

They bloom only in the cold, in the frost that makes every inhale a shock to warm human bodies, every exhale a cloud in the air. They cover the black branches, they decorate every window, they blanket the evergreens, they turn every shape into a piece of art. They cover the white with sparkles, creating a world made out of diamonds.

What humans don’t usually know is that the said sparkles are all they can see from the frost flowers dancing. Around and around and around, spinning wildly of joy, more and more of their companions falling down to join them.

What they also don’t know — cannot see, cannot hear — are the ancient singing stones playing the melody for the dance. Wings flutter to the rhythm, feet never truly touch the ground, but leave frost sparks in their wake. The sway of the white hair creates a soft breeze that only playfully toussles the fallen snow.

Every sparkle is made out of the most precious substance winter creates: light. Every little starlet fallen on the ground holds the promise of more of it returning. Soon.

Colours on Menu

Tasty, tasty colours. In a world where the colours are nourishment food is consumed through sight: the brighter the colours, the sweeter the experience. The Big Bad Bun definitely thinks so! Only the brightest, happiest meals for him!

This particular restaurant has delivery butterflies as waiters to maximize the tastes. The rainbow-dressed woman is not a part of the staff, she’s a minion. The very best colour-hunter the Big Bad Bun employs.

No pale pastels would survive her jewel tones and if she encounters anything especially dull, she might just have to dig up the neon gun.

The Butterfly Dance

It is what they do: dance. They flitter in the air, carried by the tiniest breezes, practically weightless, just a shape of bright colours in the corner of your eye.

Once in more solid humanoid form, they still dance. They still feel drawn to colours, flowers and growth. They still greet the sun like it was the main source of nourishment instead of the sweet nectar.

They still live in the now of the current ray of light, the warmth, the sights, the tastes, the movement. Every dance could be the last, so they never cease embracing the sun.

Unicorns and Rainbows

Not quite pink nor fluffy and not exactly dancing, but close enough! I also have my doubts on whether this particular unicorn will dance, frolic or prance. Seems like there’s a touch of a night mare in her eyes instead of mindless happiness.

But frolicking or not, rainbows are where the unicorns graze, correct? If not graze, maybe at least lounge. Laze. Stretch and roll around in the clouds indulgently while watching down.

Perhaps even step through to other realms to cause mischief help innocents. That is what they do, right? If you’re not an innocent, you might as well be a walking target practice. Unicorns have high standards, after all!

The Blue, Blue Sea

It isn’t always, of course. Just like the sky is not all the time exactly blue. But that is what we think they are, and if we humans see them blue, how much more vivid would a magical creature perceive them?

Maybe everything is so blue that mermaids long for the surface colours, lighter tones, more forget-me-not than deep azure, perhaps even rare sand beige of the beaches! After all, it’s the uncommon and rare that we learn to value, no matter where we grow up: on the surface or under the sea.

Even magical ruins of ancient sunken cities with their strangely still operational fountains can become dull after you’ve marvelled at it for a few hundred years. It doesn’t matter anymore that one cannot figure out how the waterflow still behaves as on land and twirling about in the tickling bubbles can entertain one only for a few decades.

Eventually there is only one way to go to trigger imagination and feed curiosity: up.

The Anemone Queen

There are creatures in the depths of the sea that care not for the frolicking ways of the mermaids, who call and lure others only to their doom, who leave the darkest trenches only to hunt lighter lifeforms.

Perhaps they are the original sirens, perhaps the only thing they wanted from sailors was dinner — not in candlelight — perhaps they are still down in the depths, avoiding detection and waiting.

To properly hunt near the surface they must create camouflage gardens, eerily beautiful flora to both hide the hunter and to entice the curious wanderers closer. Perhaps their plants are traps, giant clams holding pearls as bait, closing faster than anyone could imagine.

Perhaps there are other things they feel drawn to hunt, other reasons than just sustenance for surely that exists even in the eternal night of the trenches. Unfortunately if one finds out what it is, one never gets to tell the tale.

The Under the Sea Expo has opened today and will run until June 26th. The expo sim has been lovingly turned into the bottom of the sea and is worth a visit already on its own. There’s a hunt for mermaid pearls going on as well, so prepare your hunting fins! You can find more information about the expo here or hop right in by diving here.
