52 Colours: Amazon

Two years of colours comes to a close with Amazon which despite its name works well as a festive tone. I want to thank Luna Jubilee for running the colour challenge for so long, that’s over 100 posts from all of us just for this. Admittedly, I did ram the fifteen first colours in one post since I joined the challenge a tad late the first year, but still. So much squinting, swatch tone comparing, brainstorming, look and concept pondering… it gave rhythm to my blogging, these weekly colours. It was an important part in my becoming consistent blogger, posting at least a few times a week since I always felt there should be minimum one post between the colours. Thank you, Luna, thank you all the other colour bloggers, have a wonderfully colourful next year, even without any official challenge!

The dress is one of the limited edition holiday dresses from Bilo, available only for December, so go get yours while you still can! The hairstyle is from Alice Project’s advent calendar and the poinsettia choker by Chaos, Panic & Disorder can be found in Gothmas by Gaslight. The pose and the scene are both by Luna, to wave goodbye to the challenge properly.

52 Colours: Madder Lake Deep

The name of the colour piqued my interest so I did some poking around the net to find out that madder is a plant whose roots have been used to produce red dye for millennia and lake in this context does not refer to water, but is derived from lac. We’re speaking of the bright, strong red in the old masterworks. If it weren’t December, I might have gone to that direction, but since it is I admit I took the easy route and interpreted it as ‘santa red’. Shame on me. The hair by D!va, skin by Izzie’s and the house by Trompe Loeil can all be found in the current Collabor88. A lot of the decor is my old favourites of the season, but the noms and champagne by Poche in the foreground are available in RMK Gothic Frost Fair. The Ashraya dress by Geometry was just the right red and with all the gold it turned the whole look into a decoration, just need to find a big enough tree. I liked how the skin looks both fresh and blushed, either straight out of snow or perhaps after a tad too much mulled wine. I added a makeover by M.O.C.K. Cosmetics to take the skin even more to a holiday-at-home direction and crowned it with the As Darkness Falls necklace by House of Rain.

I was really tempted to go pure gold for this, but realized I had done that not so long ago so poked at my inventory until I found an alternative look. I don’t really know where this modern blonde half-drow girl came from, but she definitely has the dark elf attitude mastered. The Femme Fatale dress by Perception had not only the right colour, but plenty of attitude to slink about in the shadows with. The poses with cell phones are by aDORKable Poses from With Love ❤ Hunt and they somehow nailed the modern ‘run things with a cell phone’ vibe for Miss Gold. The Alexis hairstyle by Alice Project is currently available in FaMESHed. I also had to add a lot of jewelry since surely it would be no proper post about gold without piles of chains all around. The necklaces are by Maxi Gossamer from With Love ❤ Hunt and the wonderful Kelpie’s Bridle by Evie’s Closet is from the current round of Zodiac. The skin is one of The Arcade gacha ones by Glam Affair, there’s in total three that work for dark elves, which is always a happy-happy-joy-joy thing.

52 Colours: Cotton Candy

I managed to avoid the first idea of something super cutesy, actual cotton candy and silliness overboard and instead almost took the colour seriously. What? You know I have issues with pink. The skin is Pink Fuel’s prize in the With Love ❤ Hunt that just started. The vanilla pudding colouring of Wasabi Pills’ Kylee hair was just out in the 50L Fridays and the wreath is the latest group gift by World’s End Garden. It’s in the celebration of renewing the sim and I took the pictures in the new landing area just for that. The Society dress by Volstead was the exact cotton candy tone and worked perfectly for the whole rose-filled scenery. Speaking of, the fading and rose layers and such are all from in-world, I liked the effect of shooting through them.

52 Colours: Tangelo

I did not even know this is an actual fruit, thought it was just a mesh-up name for the colour, but apparently it is! I had to do something silly for Miss Tangelo, so somehow that translated into an anything-but-realistic sailor costume. With a cutesy hat. The First and Last and Always necklace by House of Rain is available in the gachas at Unhinged Festival. It was just the right amount of sweet to go with the look. The Reema hairstyle is by Alice Project, who keeps saving my colours with the HUDs that allow exactly that: colour change. The sailor costume is by *BOOM* and if you are new to this outfit, be warned: the skirt is really really short from the back. Really. As for the surroundings, I wanted both a hint of orchards and sea, so I went to visit Selidor. Plenty of both there for silly sailors to pose with.

52 Colours: Barley Corn

With a name like that, I had to find some fields for Miss Barley Corn to wander through. Quite far from any actual farmer, she’s more of a high class girl visiting summer mansion and play-pretending farm things. With cookies. Probably tiny star shaped sammiches and strawberries, too.

It’s all about the hat, as usual. This sun hat by G Field has been my favourite for a long time and you can probably find it in several blog posts in various colours. Long live colour change scripts!

The innocent radiance is a combination of Glam Affair skin and makeup by M.O.C.K. Cosmetics with another of my old favourites: summer wheat eyes by Poetic Colors.

The Bon Bon dress by Sn@tch formed the whole spirit of playful sophistication and conveniently matched the colour sample. The Steph hairstyle by Alice Project combines sweetness with relaxation, not a care in the world and all the time to flitter about smiling.

52 Colours: Juniper

I wanted to do something nature-related for Miss Juniper, a forest spirit hiding in the shadows of the bigger trees. I fear she became way too content and luscious to really be a struggling little juniper, but I like the result regardless. The flowers and butterflies are actually part of Baroque Diabolique horns by World’s End Garden, I just kept the pictures dark enough for her to be only partly visible from the shadows. The Aria-mask by Noodles enhanced the elusive forest spirit feel. As usual when matching skin tones to a colour challenge, I couldn’t be bothered with clothes. Especially since I cannot imagine the forest spirit even knowing what clothes are.

52 Colours: Bittersweet

Apparently oranges are even more tricksy for me than pinks. I started the look, got distracted, started taking pictures, got distracted again, started editing… yes, you get the idea. In the end I decided what I really need is coffee. Naminoke’s coffee cups with bunnies are perfect for these occasions.

After some inventory-diving I did find a dress in correct tone: it’s one of Bilo’s Pizazzle-ones. I’d also like to mention that colour-change HUDs like Alice’s are blogger-life-savers. This Steph hair is available in the current round of Zodiac. I ran to Ely’s sim for a cafe background, stood there barefeet and completely cheated by cropping. Bittersweet, distracted and coffee-clinging moment.

52 Colours: Charcoal

Miss Charcoal is made out of two old and one brand new favourite of mine. The W.P. Nightmare outfit by Bare@Rose has classic goth vampire vibe to it without being pure textureless black. Yes, it’s vampire time again. I shall blame Halloween while knowing none of you believe it: any season is a vampire season!

Sky Everett’s Temptress hair has always been my go-to for when making classy vampire women in gowns. It’s Elvira with extra sophistication. As for my new favourite, Izzie’s Fuyu-skin has this special edition available only in The Costume Ball. It comes with several lipsticks, including the red one here.

Speaking of old favourites: the sim is another of them. World’s End Garden continues to provide for all your romantic, poetic goth scenery needs. Less blood and darkness, more melancholy and longing.

52 Colours: Ghost White

I had to go literal with this colour, especially with Halloween right around the corner. Miss Ghost White is a carefully crafted ephemeral phantasm, luring you closer with her beauty and sadness… until you are too close to see anything but the truth of undeath.

The majestic Marchesa-hairdo is by Zibska. It’s gigantic, it’s historical, it was worn by women who never had to touch their own hair — or wigs — and probably had necks of steel to carry them without breaking! The black tears are by Pin Me Down, making her sad despite the already present vibe of creepiness.

The fading dream-like illusion was easy to create in the World’s End Garden. The dress was one of their group gifts when they opened a store in RMK sim, so I’m not certain if it’s available anymore. Regardless, the white parts of it worked for the tone and the design for the hairdo, so there she is: mirrored in melancholia.

Until that one last fatal step when you realize you’ve walked into a trap. The horror-movie fitting make-up is by Pin Me Down, their prize in the Resting Place Halloween event at Pulse. The Stranglehold choker by House of Rain is now available not only in gacha, but in the Marketplace, too. Perfect for all the possible Halloween events!
