Born of the Sea, Staring into the Sun

They are born of the sea, the Guardian Drakes of the Sunny Shores. Born of the sea, staring into the sun. As their eyes ignite from the brilliance of day, their flames burst forth, patterning their blue scales with gold.

Magic weaves itself into wing shapes on their backs, into bits and pieces of decor around their forms, into a halo of a crown declaring their status. It covers them in its embrace: energizing, glamouring, clarifying.

In the end the Guardian Drake is draped in magic — channeling, breathing, radiating the glow — and is ready to leave the depths of the sea to embark on their journey to the Sunny Shores. To guard, defend, protect. To illuminate.

The Source Seeker

The flight to the abyss is a long one. It’s mostly a lonely, cold flight through various realms and empty spaces where the only light in existence is the one you carry within you. It is a test: how long does your light hold out against the dark, how persistent is your spirit glow?

The ancient structures that were once mushrooms growing from an asteroid to another mark the way in the end, pulling you to the flow of inspiration at the source of all magic, nourishing your abyss-drained soul. Nourishing, fulfilling and healing until all the obstacles in your journey feel just a distant memory and there is only the glorious Now of Potential and Possibilities.

The Magic of Inspiration is the rarest of energies, always challenging to seek, eternally rewarding to find.

Shared Wings of Hope

The Spirits of Hope live in the dark. They have wings: some stronger than others, some more battered and even torn. There are those who lost their ability to fly altogether.

Without wings their journey is harder, more challenging. In those moments it might seem all of the Hope is lost and can never find their way again.

But if one such creature with just one wing meets another of similar kind, they can learn to fly together. Two different wings creating enough of balance for them to move again.

In time their wings will grow back, in time they’ll sing and soar and light the darkness. But for those despairing moments in the dark it is enough to share their wounded wings and fly.

Perhaps You Had Wings All Along

The difference between falling and flying is very small and for a great amount of time non-existent. Perhaps the biggest difference lies in faith, in trust. Perhaps if you truly believe you can fly, your fall will become a flight.

Perhaps it teaches you to feel for others struggling to fly, for either their environment chaining them earthbound or their fear locking them down. Perhaps it lights the warmth of empathy, of recognition, kindles your fingertips with mercy and encouragement.

Maybe the fall will cease to frighten you if you stop staring down, stop estimating the distance to ground, to the moment when your shivering reflection meets your helpless form. Maybe if you look up instead, at the endless skies, endless opportunities, the fear will let go and loosen its grip.

Perhaps in that moment of being embraced by the open sky you finally realize you had wings all along.
