Shared Wings of Hope

The Spirits of Hope live in the dark. They have wings: some stronger than others, some more battered and even torn. There are those who lost their ability to fly altogether.

Without wings their journey is harder, more challenging. In those moments it might seem all of the Hope is lost and can never find their way again.

But if one such creature with just one wing meets another of similar kind, they can learn to fly together. Two different wings creating enough of balance for them to move again.

In time their wings will grow back, in time they’ll sing and soar and light the darkness. But for those despairing moments in the dark it is enough to share their wounded wings and fly.

The Piccoli and the Princess

They find their ways into the forest sometimes, the giants. They’re usually lost and confused and need guidance to get out.

They don’t understand the normal language at all, and have pitifully small ears for signals anyway. Instead they make sounds, a lot of sounds.

Sometimes the animals feel bad for them and join them, sometimes they even use the forest energies to make sounds back at the giants. This always first shocks, then delights them.

We know better than that. Every time you acknowledge their presence and feel sorry for them and use a bit of magic to understand which kingdom is now in peril and what they need to save it, off you go on some quest and end up living in a castle full of giants.

No, thank you. We piccoli are better off in the forest. Who would train the birds and make the flowers grow if we left with every pretty giant that seemed to be in trouble and in need of help?

Nono, not even if you ask nicely. Not even with those giant puppy eyes. Talk to the otter, he’d love to go into a castle. Especially the kitchen. We’re busy. We have a spring to prepare!

Piccoli by D-Lab and Lizail can be won from The Arcade. They’re astonishing critters, padding and hopping independently from one structure to another and interacting with them. Shopping for noms, flying birdies, climbing up to tree houses, starting the sprinkler on their own. It’s absolutely fascinating to watch. Yes, I had to get them all. This was my March-Arcade Madness.

The White Lady of Warm Whispers

The eldest of the Dream Guardians is the one we meet the most and never remember. She’s the Hazebringer, the Mist-Dweller, the Feather Fall in the Fog.

She sends out her summons every eve, the call for the exhausted to come and join her in rest, to whisper their burdens, their worries, their secrets to her.

We have all been there, with the White Lady of Warm Whispers. Been there and told her everything. That is why we feel better when we wake up, why the weight has lifted off our shoulders, why things feel clearer for a moment.

She knows us all, she knows our secrets and she keeps them within her chamber of falling feathers, soft mist and silent echoes of our own whispers.

I created a sister-entity for the Blue Lady of Gentle Waves to tie my characters better together, just to shape a more comprehensive lore of ideas and concepts. As for what the White Lady is wearing, a few notes: Senzafine’s Celestine gown is available in The Fantasy Collective and the shoes by lassitude & ennui in Geeks’N’Nerds.

The Grey Lady

“Don’t go near the briars or the Grey Lady will get you. She makes people fall into the thorns, see something shiny there, reach in and suddenly the thorns move! Just to draw blood. She feeds off of it, you know.”

“You’re being silly, there’s no such thing as the Grey Lady, it’s just an old story. I read that it’s based on some poor woman fleeing a warband into the briars, getting stuck and- …well, dying. Of course people would spin a story about it, she’s hauuuunting the briars, looking for revenge!”

“Well, if you read about it then it’s definitely true! She lived here, she died here, wouldn’t you haunt the place after a death like that? I know I would! Uses her ripped off jewelry as bait, or maybe she’s just still searching for them…”

“Yeah, sure, maybe in a horror movie. Ghosts don’t exist, don’t be such a scaredy-cat. …ohey, look, there’s something shiny in there!”

52 Colours: Persian Rose

Miss Persian Rose turned into a doll, in an actual literal doll box. You know me and colours courting pink: I cannot take them seriously, I have to go over the top with them. Fortunately I found this hair by Clawtooth from Hair Fair and simply went pink dolly to accompany it.

I got the dress by walking into Wretched Dollies just as the lucky board switched to S. It’s pretty much the perfect dolly dress and saved me so much trouble this week. I might have gone toward neon pinks otherwise, but this just amused me so much that I got all cutesy instead.

Bad Sun: Study in Pixels

I’m not a huge fan of sunshine, more of the hiss-bright-melting variety. Not that I’m that big a fan of -30 Celsius frost either, mind you. But. This is about sun and how I suddenly knew exactly what kind of a post I’d make with the three hunts and some I’ve been meaning to blog. The hunts in question are: Seasons Hunt: Summer, Waffle Fox Hunt and Poupee Hunt, all full of awesome things that I’ll no doubt return to later.

Let’s start our story! Here’s our oblivious heroine on her way to the beach. She has a new summer dress by Paper.Doll (SH), hair covered by butterflies by Shag (SH) and a new bike by What Next (SH). What could possibly go wrong?

Skin is by AddiCt (SH) and the adorable waffle rings are by EY.NO (WFH). The house is by L2 Studio (SH), the paintings, deck chair and pillow by LISP Bazaar (SH) and the adorable puppy girl doll by Naminoke (PH).

Settling on the summer swing by Glitterati (SH) and indulging in a berry drink by Poche (RandoMuseum), lounging about in the sun, ignoring the worried looks that the lifeguard gives her, perhaps even dozing off…

Yes, I know, Gmok the Wise by Herbalys is an old hunt gift and has nothing to do with all these hunts, but he was so perfect to play the lifeguard part! The fun lifeguard tower is by Molto Bene (SH), the bikini by Doppelganger Inc. (SH), hair by Raw House (SH) and the sunglasses by Pididdle (SH). Skin is by The Plastik and it’s one of the many shades available in today’s 50L Fridays.

The next morning wasn’t so good, no. Even the bunny in the bed by Art Dummy! (PH) was listless and despairing and the nommy breakfast by Cluttered Flowey (SH) failed to cheer her up. The sunburn skin by My UglyDorothy (PH) was pretty much perfect for this, especially with the addition of extra sunburn and sun screen by Tres Blah.

The top is a part of Tres Blah’s prize and the shorts are by The Secret Store (SH). Hair is by Plume (SH) and I used Exile’s hairbase with it. The bangles are by LaGyo (SH) and the house is by Doremi (PH).

Having learned her lesson our heroine is recovered and remembers to have a parasol of some sort no matter where she goes. The adorable Totoro’s summer umbrellas are by duboo. (SH) and she shares one with a mini-Gmok who is obviously coming with her for a ride on her scooter by (pda) (SH).

What have we learned from this? Use sun screen if you’re lacking in magical parasols, sip your fruity drinks in the shade and always, always listen to strange magical creatures.
