Blogger Challenge: My New Shiny

“Do try these eggs,” the nixie boy said. “They’re from creatures that live only here in the Blackwater Glenn. The snail is especially tasty.”

glowyshrooms3bs

“…things look swirly,” the rainbow fairy exhaled after having a nibble. “‘n funny coloured. Oh look, there’s glowing spirals dancing in the air!”

glowyshrooms2bs

“Just you wait… a few moments more and things are even brighter,” the nixie boy smirked. The helper hare raised his lantern in acknowledgment and agreement.

glowyshrooms4bs

And then… and then everything went really swirly and colourful and strange. Blackwater Glenn had a new mushroom growing within it.

glowyshrooms1bs

Take heed when traveling in the Glenn, don’t touch glowing mushrooms and never, ever eat snacks offered by tricksy nixies!

There’s only few more days to go of this year’s Fantasy Faire, so I decided to do one of the challenges. Slightly embarrassing if I wouldn’t, since I set them all. All of my posts are pretty much Faire Folk, but this one is about new shinies: shops that are new to the blogger or thought to be new to the reader. As my genuine new shiny I present to you Polenth’s Mushporium, a shop that sells only mushrooms! Tiny avatars for the silly ones and beautiful landscaping ones for the serious people. You can find the shop in Wiggenstead Mooring. I’d also like to point out Gwen’s Hearth that sells noms of many kinds and many sizes and AnkleBiter that sells wonderful wares for the petites, both can be found in Sanctum.

The rainbow fairy petite by Fallen Gods Inc., the petite accessories and wings by AnkleBiter and the dubious nixie-offered nom by Gwen’s Hearth are all available in Sanctum. The nixie boy statue and the helper hare by meadowWorks are in Blackwater Glenn and the tiny shroomie avatar and the big purple shrooms in the last picture are from Polenth’s Mushporium in Wiggenstead Mooring. The rest of the scene and mushrooms are by The Looking Glass. The pictures were taken in Blackwater Glenn, but they also do sell the glowy mushrooms in their store in Blackwater Glenn.

Black Trees, Red Skies

The black trees of Mourningvale Thicket tell a dire story of death and decay, the whole forest is dark and mostly lifeless, only the occasional red splatter of life in the trees or flowers drawing in the eye of the wanderer.

redandblue1bs

They say the trees drink in the blood of the unwary traveler, they say the blood red skies are visible only to those with eyes to see such, to see the vision, to see the truth beyond the darkness.

redblue4bs

And yet there is life, hopefully clinging to rocks, entwining with the black trunks, trees themselves drawing in what sustenance they can, fighting on despite the conjured darkness.

redblue2bs

Conjured, for such darkness is not natural, such complete withering not a part of the Circle. Someone or something is responsible for it and that something might still be present in the Thicket.

redandblue3bs

Unless of course looks deceive and what might seem as a conjuring might in fact be a cure. Sometimes it takes dark measures to battle the darkness, harsh energies to bring light to the dark red skies, destruction to clear the disease.

Mourningvale Thicket is of course a part of the Fairelands in Fantasy Faire, where most of the look is also from. The dress by Senzafine and the jewelry by House of Rain can both be found in the same Thicket, the collar, headdress and feather hair by Unzipped are located in Asperatus, the dragon flying dwarfin shoulder pet in Hope’s Horizon (they have dwarfin and human sized flying dragons, too) and the special effects in hands are by Solarium in Medhir Woods.

The Kitten and the Tree

Miss Flufflepaw knew she shouldn’t go alone into the Faery Court, all the other Fang Fairies had told her it was too dangerous. “There’s wicked Unseelie there and they often like to pull the tails of dinkies and splash you right into the water from the air!”

kitten2bsBut there she was, right at the ginormous dual tree rising toward the sky: two intertwined tree trunks forming one bigger whole. She almost broke her little neck when she tried to see the top until she remembered she could fly!

kitten3bsThe tree felt alive under her small paws when she landed on top and she had a distinct feeling it might suddenly just swat her off with a branch — or catch her with some vile tree trick! She flew down before neither could happen, emitting a little hiss at the tree.

kitten5bsShe knew well that all the older Fang Fairies said that magics ran wild in the Court. Untamed, strong, wild and free and every bit as chaotic as magic was during its first days. She also knew that she was too curious for her own good, but all the changing lights were even better than the little teasing spots of light she sometimes chased!

kitten6bsPerhaps the strangely whispering plants were friendly, after all… maybe she just had to go closer and listen more carefully and they’d tell her all their secrets!

No dinkies were harmed during this trip and Miss Flufflepaw is perfectly alright and ready to head into new curious adventures, perhaps get stuck in that big tree, after all… Dinkies are delightful creations of Etheria Parrott of Tiny Inc. and the Tooth Fairy outfit by Kamasa Kutanaga is sold in Etheria’s Faire store in Wiggenstead Mooring at Fantasy Faire. The marvelously fabulous fang fairy adjusted hair is by Analog Dog, available in Heavenslough.

Sanctum Stone

They are all made of it, the angels. Sanctum stone, the same material as the cathedral they inhabit. They pose, adorn, guard, declare, point, celebrate. They are everywhere.

stone3bs

You may find them in the strangest of places, like the sculptor wanted to breathe life into stone, give them a will of their own. They might be guiding your way toward the heavens or found looking away to make a point.

stone1bs

The more you begin to notice them, the more you will start seeing them everywhere. In the corner of your eye, frozen in positions of movement, in the oddest little places, window framings, between the buildings, in the doorways. Behind you.

stone4bs

They are made of Sanctum stone and they are everywhere. Especially where you don’t look.

I could not resist and I know I’m not the only one. You can join the increasing army of statues in Sanctum at Fantasy Faire. The skin, eyes and dress from Fallen Gods Inc. to truly match the cathedral are enhanced by the wings and hair from MacMoragh and Muse, both shops of course in Sanctum.

The Return of the Faire

“Greetings, mortal. It is time. It has taken us more than twelve cycles of your moon to return, but the Fairelands are finally back in your realm.”

paiva2cs

“The journey back to this plane is always perilous; fraught with chaotic magic and unseen dangers, tests of nature and strength. Tests of perseverance and faith.”

paiva3cs

“Sometimes we lose things on the way: treasures, people, even whole lands. The re-formation takes its toll, all of the magic channeled into new shapes, every land taking on a new visage.”

paiva1cs

“When we make it, when the lands rise anew like the phoenix, when the portals finally open for us to meet again: it has all been worth it. For we are the Faire Folk, and we have returned.”

Fantasy Faire has just opened its portals into the Fairelands! Prepare to move in for eleven days of roleplay, shopping, entertainment and absolute astonishment at the beauty of the lands. The hair by Analog Dog, the outfit by The Muses, the shoes by De La Soul and the crown and collar by . a i s l i n g . are all available there. Analog Dog can be found in Heavenslough, The Muses and De La Soul in Mourningvale Thicket  and . a i s l i n g . in Hope’s Horizon.
