52 Colours: Rust

Miss Rust was originally meant to be a rusting robot of some sort, but since the colour is actually all perky near-orange instead of a darker rustier tone, I went with something cuter and just explored a slightly darker sim.

The sim is A Rusted Development and it’s both breathtaking and intriguing to explore. There’s surprises and walkways and hidden areas all around.

Miss Rust is accompanied by her pet urpy, one of the creatures by Booshies. This one is so friendly that it likes to curl around your shoulders and mimic a stole. Perfect solution: pet and fashion!

The lament for lack of robotics aside, the vibe of slight insanity accompanied by nostalgic tones of decaying machinery cityscape fit the character perfectly. Who knows why she dances, but dance she will~

Something Old, Something New…

…yeahno, nothing of the rest. This is Halloween! Not any other occasion. Besides, these days the ‘something blue’ part just makes me think of TARDIS. Anyways! Two Halloween looks for fun and amusement. One features one of the old classics that I still like to wear when given a chance and another something that I picked yesterday from the latest round of Project Themeory.

The bone corsetry outfit and masks by Acid & Mala are in Project Themeory’s Halloween round. I added a blood layer by The Plastik and a huge mess of hair by Sky Everett to it. Both the black skin with the white diagonal mask on it and the pure white skin below are by Nuuna’s Skins, as are the black eyes. The scythe is an old hunt gift by J.I.N.X. and the pose is by p4p.

This dress is the very first I ever bought from Dare Designs, somewhere in spring 2009 and I still love it for classic slinky-goth evil looks. ❤ The hat is by Grim Bros., the kitty-head candy bowl by Schadenfreude, the spider-ring by .( bewildebeest ). and the spider choker by G Field (a part of the subscribo gift). Eyes by Repulse, hair by Lamb, pose by Olive Juice and the make-up a mix of M.O.C.K. Cosmetics and Frick’s tattoo layers. The house used in both pictures is a group gift by Zacca.

Oh, and yes, I did indulge in filters like candy. For the holiday. <.<

52 Colours: Bronze

This is one of those colours where I knew immediately exactly what my Miss Bronze would be. Clockwork doll, no way around it. I’ll take this opportunity to also remind you all that Steam Hunt has started again, although the things Miss Bronze wears are old and not from this hunt. Still, it’ll take a while before I’ve dug myself through Twisted loots and will have the time to hit the Steam properly, so thought I’d mention it already!

And so, without further ado: “Once upon a time there was a clockwork doll…”

The marvelous bronze-toned doll skin and mechanical head are actually from the last spring’s round of Steam Hunt, by Secret Shelf. So perfect, so fitting.

“When no one was looking, she exchanged her gears for a human head, hoping to see the world better this way.”

The golden face tattoo is by Fallen Gods Inc., and seemed perfect for the little dolly. I also added make-up tattoo layers for dark eyes and a lip stripe, both by The Plastik. The clockwork eyes are by Frick. The mechano-guts are by Grim Bros.

“Behold, the world was a marvelous place, full of exciting shiny temptations everywhere…”

The dress is also by Frick and although it’s mostly more brass, the darker accents were rather clearly bronze and worked well with the clockwork concept. The stunningly surreal hair is by The Stringer Mausoleum.

“Try as she might, she was trapped on her pedestal, unable to find a way to the glittering city of promises.”

The mechanical hand is an old hunt prize by Yellow Jester and the butterfly key is by CFF — unfortunately SL had eaten the creator name, so I’m unsure which shop that actually is. Alas.

“In the end, there was only one way out of the tower.”

The shoes are by Grim Bros as well, and my absolute favorite steampunk shoes. The poses used were by Creative Insanity (1 & 3), Niqotine Poses (2&4) and Estetica (5). Miss Bronze’s Glittering City is in Omega Point. If you’ve never been there, do visit and explore. It’s rather breathtaking.

52 Colours: Liver

The moment I saw this week’s colour, I -knew- who and what Miss Liver would be. A colour that at first glance looks like very dark grey (with just a touch of warmth in it) and is named after an internal organ? It’s zombie-time!

Look, she even has a liver for you! Shh, no telling her that it’s actually a heart by Olive Juice, it’s not a good idea to try and teach zombies anatomy. She also has a macabre pretty heart necklace by Little Pricks. The axe lodged in her skull is by ~Sa-eela~, and don’t you worry, she doesn’t even notice it. Um. Maybe that -is- a cause to worry, actually. The pose is by Del May, all of these old hunt things.

The brain juice canister by Virtual Insanity is also from an old hunt. …why yes, yes I have a big zombie-folder in my inventory, don’t you? The pose is by Captivity Co, the creepy shack in the background is by Sugar.Snap.Me and the skin is an old group gift by Red Queen. I added a cracking tattoo layer by Frick to it and used eyes by REPULSE as final touches.

The whole outfit is a mix-match of Sn@tch items. Skirt, leggings and gloves are from voodoo lolli outfit that was in the lucky chair a bit ago and the top is from the current fishing outfit: Mary Potter. Who knew it’d end up on a zombie instead of Hogwarts? Hair is by DURA from Your Inner Bunny Hunt. The too-awesome-for-words scythe is by [OMFG] and I fear they’re not available anymore. Sadness. Pose by No Strings Attached.

So there, Miss Liver being nice and offering you a squishy present in the hopes that you’ll overlook the lack of red tint in her grey. Mind you, if it’s a red tint you want, you came to the right zombie…

Frick for Fantasy

But not for long anymore. Sadness. Frick is closing, at least for now. You might have noticed that I use her skins a lot in various fantasy shots. I’m especially fond of her grey tones. There’s also a lot of lolita style cuteness in the form of dresses, and skins ranging from steampunk to drow and geisha to neko.

Everything in the shop is at least -50% until 1st of April, after which the shop will be gone. Obviously I had to go over and yoink more things!

I did say I like her grey tones, right? *coughs* Oh, and the cracks and tears and ouchies on the right are a separate tattoo layer. Finally I can do the broken doll look on any skin! (Hair by Sky Everett, eyes by Poetic Colors, poses by LAP.) Frick’s always been famous for her dollarbie wearable demos, so even if you’re really, really low on budget, there’s tons of fun fantasy skins for even more ridiculously cheap than the sale offers.

Frick also has four small, cutesy skyboxes for sale. I had to grab two, this is one of them. And when have I ever been able to resist the combination of black, red, corsetry and garters? Yeah, exactly. (Hair by Waka & Yuki, pose by Estetica.) Oh, and the valentine hunt skins and dress are still around in little dollarbie hearts, too.

You have until the end of March, here’s your destination!

Catching Up With Colours~

A year full of colours, perfect excuse to dig into your inventory and play dress-up, different colour every week. That’s more or less the nutshell of LunaJubilee’s 52 Weeks of Color Challenge. She lists a new colour every week. I didn’t even know there were 52 colours, yegads. My colour perception is practically male: light brown, dark brown, what’s the difference? Fortunately she provides a colour sample every time so I can try and match that! And hey, it’ll be randomly educational, too! Not to mention fun. ^_^

It’s week fifteen of the challenge now, which meant I had fifteen looks to cover. To make the post less picture spammy I actually used a photo studio and then just snip-copy-pasted three in one. Since I was lacking in my usual environment creation fun, I challenged myself in another way: matched the styles of the colours per picture. Can’t make it too easy on myself, right?

The first three colours — grey, blue and goldenrod — turned out to be manga-ish school girl characters. Although I think Miss Blue might be a teacher. I started with flailing about if I’d find anything in goldenrod, going ‘That’s a colour? O.o’ a lot until I finally located that shirt. It called for school girlness, so Miss Grey and Miss Blue just had to live with it. All of their poses are from Ks2cool.

Grey: skin – Frick, eyes – Kosh, hair & scarf – Curious Kitties, tattoo – Moloko, gloves & top – The Loony Bin, leggings – Aoharu, lip piercing – Virtual Insanity, armlet – Zenith Fashion, coffin purse – DV8, belt – Gauze

Blue: skin – M.O.C.K. Cosmetics, eyes – Umedama Holic, hair – Wasabi Pills, dress – Miamai, tattoo – Schadenfreude, stockings & garters – Vinyl Cafe, butterflies – Minajunk, bird ring – KUE!

Goldenrod: skin – Imabee, hair – Red Queen, eyes – Poetic Colors, top – Paradisis, skirt & gloves – League, boom box – katat0nik, aether headphones – Belle Belle, socks – Rotten Toe

Plum was another tricksy one until I did a search for it and found this exact colour sample match hair from my anime hairs folder! Much rejoicing. ^_^ Then I poked around in my lolita folder and found a dress with exact same hue whales on it. Obviously Miss Sepia and Miss Yellow weren’t that difficult to dress up once I had the lolita style decided.

Plum: skin – Violent Seduction, eyes – Rita Eyes, hair – Little Heaven, dress & tattoos – katat0nik, necklace – Pink Fuel, pose – Lazy Places

Sepia: skin – Imabee, eyes – Sn@tch, hair – Curious Kitties, monocle – E&D Engineering, orchid – Orquidea, collar – Steam Powered Nuts, Inc., dress – Frick, pose – Estetica

Yellow: skin – Pink Fuel, eyes – Glam Affair, hair – Fatal Error, dress – Dilly Dolls, tattoo – Curious Kitties, cyber arm implants – Fatal Error, pose – Melancholia Lilliehook

Cerise was one of those ‘This is a colour? Yegads, it’s dark pink!’ moments. I did a search for ‘pink’ and tried everything on and much to my surprise found this vintage lingerie -and- shoes in exact colour sample tone! Who knew~ Miss Green and Miss Silver got to wear lingerie just to match lil Miss Cerise. You can’t really see the shoes on Miss Green and Miss Silver that well, but all three are wearing Grim Bros’s fantastic curlique filled wonders. There’s just something so delicate, decadent and debaucherous in those details. And other d-words.

Cerise: skin – Frick, eyes – Kosh, hair – BettiePage Voyager, lingerie – Dominion Fashon District (creator: pisi Ruby), shoes – Grim Bros, stockings – Lapointe, gloves – Sn@tch, pose – Natasha Martov

Green: skin – Heartsick, eyes – Plastik, hair – Sky Everett, jewelry – Ganked, lingerie – Style by Kira, stockings – Dilly Dolls, gloves – The Black Canary, pose – Niqotine Poses

Silver: skin – Frick, eyes – Kosh, hair – lamb, nightie – A&A Fashion, shoes – Grim Bros, jewelry – Mandala, pose – CnS E-motion

Two browns in one picture! I divided them in order and when I realized that I’d have two separate browns in this one, I just knew it’d be steampunk. I mean… my inventory is sort of black, black, black, red, black, blue, black, green, lots of browns in the steampunk folder! black. I am so miffed I couldn’t use hya-blue (Silent Sparrow) for the middle girl, but I just could not match it to the colour sample with good conscience. Fortunately I had Sparrow in sienna!

Sienna: skin – Frick, eyes – Plastik, hair – Waka & Yuki, dress – Silent Sparrow, goggles – Belle Belle, steampunk headset – Londinium Gearworks, hat – Illusions, pose – Olive Juice

Indigo: skin – Frick, hair – Waka & Yuki, eyes – Mynerva, hat – Perturb/ation, gloves – Atsuki Kayo, necklace – Mariposa, dress – Evie’s Closet, pose – Niqotine Poses

Taupe: skin – Sn@tch, make-up – Frick, eyes – Plastik, hair – Waka & Yuki, gloves, skirt & stockings – League, top & necklace – Sn@tch, pose – LAP

When I realized my last picture had emerald, black and red I more or less squeed. …and then I couldn’t decide if I wanted to make a fantasy picture or a ballet picture. So I made both! It’s like a joke: ‘A dryad, a drow and a demon walk into a ballet class…’ Obviously the demon is more interested in inviting others to dance and the drow claims she can’t dance without daggers, it’s apparently a part of her cultural heritage. The dryad was at least somewhat happy~

Emerald: skin – Sn@tch, eyes – Plastik, hair – Curious Kitties, dress – DV8, necklace – Fallen Gods Inc, pose – EverGlow

Black: skin – Ho Wear, eyes – Kosh, hair – Exxess Designs, dress – Mocha, ears – Illusions, necklace – Deviance, lip spider – EarthStones, knives – ODB, pose – Niqotine Poses

Red: skin – Red Queen, hair – Deviant Kitties, eyes – Plastik, tattoos – Fallen Gods Inc, dress – Evie’s Closet, horns – Trap, jewelry – Mandala, lip piercing – Nightshade, pose – Niqotine Poses

Whew. Next week I’ll start blogging colours one per week like everyone else… guess I have to come up with something else for extra challenge… maybe to match furniture or other props, too…

Monsters in Your Head — At Least in Your Hair~

The second run of Crazy Arse Hair Hunt has started, huzzah! The beginning location is in The U-Neek. You can pick up the SLURL list to the participating shops from the hunt poster there. The shops are not listed in any kind of order and there are no hints. However, I had to return the second time to only three shops, so it wasn’t too tricksy. The theme was ‘monster’, so there were plenty of spiders and snakes crawling over the hairs. o.o

This lovely little thing was called Lunch. I’d personally call it either Omnomnom or Braaiiiins~  The snacking alien is from Griddie, the skin is from Fallen Gods Inc. and the picture was taken in a skybox from PR!TTY. Obviously only the hairs are from the hunt, the rest I dug up from my bottomless inventory of dooom.

This hair from Battle Angel really -is- alive, its shiny tendrils moving slightly. It came in several hues, but this was such a glow fest that I couldn’t resist. Very star-creature alien vibe. Skin is one of Heaven Sella’s and the wonderfully creepy eyes are from Absentia. The picture was taken in a skybox from Not Too Shabby.

Here’s one of the snake hairs — this one by Cilian’gel. The snakes were moving. <.< The skin is by Frick, her new dollarbie wearable demo. The neko eyes worked fine for the snake lady and are from Urban Dare. The picture was taken in a Darkwood Gazebo from S&C Designs.

The monster from Curious Kitties is obviously of more adorable kind. ^_^ The hair had awesome hornesque spikes on the back/sides, but I liked this pose so much that you have to go and get the hair yourselves to see them! Skin by Frick, one of her older ones. Eyes still from Absentia. Photobox from Tuft.

I found myself really liking this jewelry and metal flower decorated strange little pigtail thing from La Boheme. I combined it with a skin from Pink Fuel, lashes from Sky Everett and eyes from Vision to add to the strange silvery-grey shy cuteness of it. The skybox is the same Voodoo Child one from Not Too Shabby. It’s a skybox that just keeps on giving! ❤

This is probably my favorite of the hairs this run, as surprising as it might be. I know it’s pink! But… but… it has a partridge in it. Seriously. o.o It’s called Partridge in a Hair Tree and is by Miasnow. I used the latest group gift skin from Rotten Toe with it, as well as eyes from Poetic Colors and the lashes from Dimbula Rose. The picture is taken in the small hanami box from Clematis. Can we say ‘kawaii’? Yes, yes we can.

There were just over 50 shops in the hunt and plenty of crazy to go around, so grab the strange things to wear on your head while you still can!

La Vie Kawaii~

Also called ‘how we moved from a gothic manor into a garden cottage and squeed~’. Now, I’m going to try to pretend that this isn’t a completely self-indulgent post about home and hearth and bunnies, and all the avatars who run around in the said home, but… yeah. But hey. I am filling a gaping hole in the blog-verse by blogging about garden and yard items! There is so much awesome out there on the grid and no one ever blogs about it. I shall! Oh so reluctantly, yes. *coughs*

So let us start with the girl trio running amok on the grounds, here comfortably posing on top of the bubble chairs from Happy Mood~

The background scenery you see in every picture is this awesome megaprim with windy moors on it. It’s from Two Moon Studios and keeps up our immersion of not at all being situated near random shops or other people. Noes, we live in solitude (and cuteness) somewhere far, far away. The hills with big trees on them are also from Happy Mood. As for what we’re wearing… on the left is Sonya with Rotten Toe dress, Grim Bros shoes, C&D Benelli tights, Nightshade neck ribbon, Curious Kitties hair, Bastchild wrist corsage, Djinn & Tonic skin and an umbrella from Weather! or Not?. In the middle is Loki in Frick skin, Vixen hair, Brocade Tiger pants, Grendel tattoos, Phoenix Designs boots, Rag Dollz leg pistol & strap, CatniP bracers, Haven Designs top, Manna belt, Belle Belle goggles properly on her eyes and other pair of goggles from Hat Mechanic around her neck, because you can’t have too many goggles! Athelia on the right has Trap skin, Magika hair, Manticorp goggles, Rotten Toe dress & socks, Manna belt, Katat0nik shoes, Violet Voltaire necklace and Sweetest Good-bye armwarmers.

The yard is wonderful place for lounging about and having picnics. Who needs a kitchen table when you can do this?

That’s Loki and Sonya and a poor SL-bugged Happy Mood bunny. That or he’s getting into the Ozimals-mood and has decided he’s a mutant with black ears. <.< I’ll get into what we’re noming in just a moment, but first look at the scenery. How pretty is that? There’s mushrooms from New Trails, trees from Fox Labs, sparkly bubble chairs from Happy Mood, elven light tree branch thing from Forest Floor and of course the magically lit ground which is a mix from the products of Happy Mood and iTuTu. Sonya’s pose is from Ana_mations and Loki’s from Niqotine.

Here’s a close-up that drove us all into nom-craving. @.@

The lovely Japanese lunchbox setting is from Love Soul. It has two different caterings that you pick by touching it. The sushi roll mats (one open, one rolled) are from Sanu, the cookie jar is from Magic Nook and gives cookies when you click it, the tray is from Kinema no Tsuki, the coffee pot on it from Oblonski and the apple pie slices and cups on it from Falln. Sonya is wearing frilly shorts by LeeZu, top by Sn@tch, Waka & Yuki hair, Yabusaka sandals, Djinn & Tonic skin and a nom in her mouth is from Sanu. Loki is noming on a mousie mouth cupcake by Sanu and is wearing Maschienenwerk skin, Discord Designs hair, Peppermint Blue top, DV8 capris, Truth shoes, Ginza necklace and her practically trademark tattoos from Grendel’s Children.

Not everyone is happy with all this sparkly cuteness, of course. It is not, how shall we say this… very manly. *grins* Here we have Janos sulking at the fence, refusing to go to the guuuuuuurly area. Obviously the bubbles might give him cooties.

This from a guy with a panda cupcake on his shoulder… anyways! He’s sulking behind a fence from iTuTu, the inviting lanterns are from Zacca and they frame the path from Fox Labs. The flowers are from iTuTu and the trees in the distance are from Fox Labs. You all know by now that the bubbles are Happy Mood. ^_^ Janos is wearing an awesome sad panda tee from Before Sleep, panda cuppycake on his shoulder from Sanu, GQ Fashions pants, Discord boots, Kosh belt, Nosotr@s tattoos on his arms and Sassy Kitty Designs gloves. His skin is from Corrupted Innocence, pose from Snooky’s Poses and hair from Black Maria.

Even Aleksander, who has reluctantly set all this cuteness down for us, more or less escaped to the roof when requested to pose within it. Eventually he agreed to do sort of royal pose, especially after Vanis said he’d help the impression with a bodyguard pose! He’s obviously an elven assassin protecting the Black King. <.<

They’re on the roof of the cottage from Zacca, the background showing some Happy Mood birds, summer festival decorations from Nonino and flowers from MiaSofia. Aleksander is wearing The Abyss skin, Sadistic Hacker hair, Illusions ears, KWZ suit and Treads boots. Vanis is wearing Excess skin, Sadistic Hacker hair, Buried ears, LNL suit, pocket watch & gun and hoorenbeek boots.

Now, the only exception to the rule is of course Vanis. He doesn’t object to the sparkles, he thinks they accentuate him! This is why when Aleksander turns his back, Vanis sneaks off to woo his protegee. Or some such. Yesyes, we have way too much with all of this. *grins*

Athelia called this combination of looks ‘seducing angels down from heaven’. It was pretty appropriate, I must say. Athelia is all ethereal in a gown from Evie’s Closet, wearing Trap skin, ETD hair and Illusions ears. Vanis, on the other hand, is very much flesh and blood in his Excess skin, Calico Ingmann hair, Buried ears and DeLa armwarmers. He’s also wearing RFyre pants, Blitzed belt and tattoos. The snake one around his neck is from Demise, the arm ones are from Crimson Shadow.

Here’s the inevitable result of the dancing, of course. Athelia’s gown might have turned red, but it is still from Evie’s Closet! Not that we love Evie’s gowns or anything, noes. <.< Her now-black hair is from Sky Everett, but otherwise she’s the same. Vanis returned to his demented colour palette with the Excess hat hair and League gloves. The summer festival decorations are from Nonino, the tree and hill are from Happy Mood, lantern from Zacca, white flowers from iTuTu and red flowers from MiaSnow.

It’s needless to say that I’m of course having a blast with the surroundings and enjoying the looks, no matter what the boy avis say. Who knows, we might get some sort of steampunk gear factory or scifi ship the next time Aleksander rips the whole sim apart and builds anew, so better enjoy it while we can!

Butterfly on the nose (with the pose) from LAP (I adore it <3). LeeZu dress, Dark Eden wrist roses, Exxess Designs hair, Djinn & Tonic skin. Happy Mood treestump, bunny and birdies~

And why the title? Because most of the sim is a mix of Happy Mood, iTuTu, Zacca and Nonino — all Japanese designers. If you haven’t visited them, please do. It’ll make you squee, I promise~

Crazy hairs make the bunny squee~

But you all knew that already, hm? It’s no secret that strange, big hairdos are one of my shopping weaknesses in SL. I might run around mostly in one of Sky Everett’s updos or lamb.’s bob, but give me an excuse to go crazy with hair and you have my attention — and lindens.

So when I heard that there was a hunt coming up that was concentrating only on those, it was an instant child-waiting-for-christmas reaction. And now it’s finally here! The Crazy-Arse Hair Hunt begins in The U-neek, has 40 handpicked participating shops and lasts until the end of April. And now, ladies and gentlemen, without further ado, I give you my favorites!

I can’t speak of hair and not bring out — and begin — with Sky Everett. I’m so used to her big hairdos that I didn’t even consider this crazy by any means! Although it gave me an urge to get a moth-eaten ghostly greyscale ballgown to complete the look… Skin by Frick, eyes by Fan3 with the addition of Vision’s glow prims, background from MH Creations’ picture box.

Here we’re beginning to hit the crazy phase — Anemone hair from Nevermind included the feather ornament and was absolutely stunning and full of attitude. I completed the look with a skin from Red Queen and eyes from House of Ruin. Picture taken in a skybox from Sugar.Snap.Me.

Finally a hair to match this Foam skin! Griddie’s hair actually came in several different tones, but this teal cried out for a water elemental photoshoot, so I ported over to Fallen Gods Inc, went underwater and started taking pictures. Both the skin and the eyes are also from Fallen Gods Inc and no, the hair doesn’t really glow like that, there are fishies swimming and flickering through the textures, you know how it goes. I thought it was pretty, so I happily took advantage of SL’s bugs. *grins*

I climbed out of the water and into the nearest palm tree. Obviously the sim worked perfectly for my banana jungle shots, as well! The hair is from Bare Rose, and yes, it has bananas. The other possibility I considered was to do a Josephine Baker look, but my inventory failed to produce awesome banana pin-up outfits. Sadness. Skin is by Frick, eyes by Arondelle Ladybird for the Twisted Hunt with the glow effect prims from Vision. The leaf pasties are by Fallen Gods Inc.

I was really torn with this garden — on one hand I wanted to do exactly this: a crazy plant elemental blooming in the spring, but oh how it called for a Versailles look as well. This is not even hair anymore, this is a showpiece, a crazy combination of things carried on your head. It’s impressing, enchanting and would break women’s necks like snap in RL! It’s from a shop called 3636. Skin by Fallen Gods Inc, eyes by Poetic Colors, picture taken in our backyard~

Here we have a hairdo from one of my Squee Shops, Tekeli-li. They make fantasy hairdos, jewelry, clothes-made-of-jewelry and weapons-that-look-like-jewelry. It calls to the magpie in my heart. ❤ The hair was a Lovecraftian construction, and the moving eye in the bone headpiece was awesome, but the arrangement of the tentacle-like hair made me think of Egypt, perhaps some demented Egyptian sorceress and summoner… Skin by Red Queen, eyes by House of Ruin, Egyptian tattoos by Fallen Gods Inc, picture taken in an egyptian house by Atom Burma.

You can’t have crazy hair hunt without Curious Kitties. They constantly make wonderfully strange fantasy and anime hairdos that make me squee. This one isn’t an exception. In fact, it calls for a red/purple queen look with bloody axes and a lot of head-offing! Skin is by Sn@tch, eyes by Prim & Pixel Paradise with Vision’s glow prims and the picture is taken in a voodoo store by Tuft.

This was of course just a small sample of the strangeness and if you wish to see previews of the rest, I recommend visiting FabFree or Schnappi’s blogs (both listed in the Freebie Blogs on this page). Then get out there and enjoy the weirdness~

Steamy Twisted Demonology Hunt?

One of the things I’ve always loved about Second Life is how versatile the avatars are. If it can be imagined, someone has probably made it and is selling it. If you want to be a pixie princess one day and a hellhound the next, nothing’s stopping you. If I want to run about as a dark elf in the morning, steampunk clockwork doll in the afternoon and a Victorian lady in the evening, it’s easily done.

Another of my favorite things in SL has always been the hunts. Freebies hidden away for you to locate @.@ It appeals to me both because of the free factor as much as the challenge factor of finding the hidden things. However, what Sonya agrees to wear is …carefully selected, to put it kindly. I have casual clothes. They’re in the ‘costumes’ folder. <.< Gothic, fantasy, vintage, couture and costumes is what’s in my inventory. Thus I don’t usually wade through the hunts with normal things in them. If I can wear couture, why would I ever want to put on jeans? O.o

But when September kicked off with Twisted Hunt, Demonology Hunt and Steam Hunt, it was time to hunt like no tomorrow. I’ve still not sorted it all, but I’m getting there. And since I was taking screenshots to show some of the looks around, I decided to share some of my favorites here!

Twisted Hunt was organized by DV8 and it was absolutely perfectly organized, too. A pleasure to hunt through, despite the twisted evilness of the well-hidden cubes. Here’s the first get-up that made me squee…

DV8’s Cyber Jammer outfit and skates. So random, so awesome. Skin is from Oralune and most definitely not a freebie. Hair and mask are from DV8 as well. If you click your AO off and walk while wearing the skates, you’re actually skating. ^^

This one made me blink. I doubt I’ll be wearing it much since grunge is hardly my style, and being a puppy even less, but I had to screenshot and post it for the sheer value of someone making other kemonomimi than nekos! Plus the attitude is awesome. Boots, hair, puppy bits and outfit all from Pop Tart & Urban Assault, skin from Falln and not a part of the hunt.

I did mention it was -Twisted- Hunt, right? This is a mix-match of things to create this lovely little demented dolly with a big, big sword. Skin – Nocturnal Flesh, hair – BattleAngel, dress – Dilly Dolls, pawboots – Demotik, sword- D.H. Customs, tophat – Burning Chrome — all from the hunt.

So when someone makes a full aztec temple with sacrifice stone, and another designer makes a minidress with a knife sticking out of your chest, you know what you have to do, right? Skin – Fatal Error, eyes – Absentia, hair – Discord Designs, outfit & knife – Vexed. Cannot wait for the Halloween parties now!

When we were done with the Twisted Hunt, we started the Demonology Hunt straight away! The subject is obvious and the quality of the items was surprisingly good for such a short and new hunt. There were organizational problems, but for a first hunt of its kind it was a really good one.

I had way too much fun with these photoshoots. Now, if you’re a girl, there is absolutely one thing above others you must get from this hunt and that’s the gorgeous demon skins of Frick. I’ll show all three of them, this is the first. The claw — which is another awesome thing — is from Red Eye Shop. Tail, shoulderspikes and hoofboots are from Burning Chrome. Horns from BloodMyst, spiked wrist strap from Spider Productions. The hair from Deviant Kitties and the straps from Chaospire were not a part of the hunt nor free.

Here’s the red skin from Frick! The awesome claw staff is also made by Red Eye Shop, but it’s hidden in Mayhem Weapon Store. Satyr hooves from Lazy Places. Horns, tail and spikes from The Stringer Mausoleum. Prim fire glowing eyes from Gothic Dreams, hair from Vixen Hair. The Chaospire straps still not free.

Here’s the third Frick skin and a more modern take on a demon! Ears, horns, goggles, pants, hoofboots from Nekorotic Misfits. The shirt from The U-neek, Plasma Spikes from  DeTHGRiP, hair Vixen Hair and the glowing prim eyes from Meimu.

And after barely catching our breath from all the brimstone, it was time to breathe in some steam and head out to the Steam Hunt! It was also the first time for that subject and obviously also for the people organizing it. Some of the big steampunk designer names were missing, the organization was generally a confusion, a lot of the shops had dropped out and so forth. It was mostly furniture and interesting gadgets, so if you’re after awesome mock-victorian gowns or airship pirate outfits, you still need to get those with lindens. However, here’s some of the looks I found interesting…

There were two prizes about steampunk mer-creatures. I found this intriguing. O.o I’ve combined them in this, using the tattoo and the top of aeNigma with the brass octomer ‘tail’ of Brackish. Hair is from Vixen Hair, eyes from Occular Oddities (the only eyes in the hunt, but boy were those clockwork eyes pretty) match strangely well with Falln’s Isis skin (which isn’t a part of the hunt). The deep breather on her upper chest (plus tanks on her back) is from Never Ever and the mechanical arm is from Bare Bear Discount Store. …really, don’t they rust when they swim? So curious.

Since the Steam Hunt didn’t have any skins in the prizes, I poked my inventory for some. This is Frick’s Noir, and for some reason I loved it for these demented doll looks. Hair is from The Stringer Mausoleum, necklace from Lantian, the dress from Weird Designs and the tophat from Viv Trafalgar Outfitters.

As far as screenshots go, this one is definitely one of my favorites. Skin is still Frick’s Noir (not a part of the hunt), there’s Tesla Rose (11 prims) from Rasetsukoku on the right and ‘Undying Love’ (77 prims) from Belle Belle on the left — the top two of my favorite furniture items on the hunt. Outfit from Ali Couture, tophat from Koatic Designs, hair from The Stringer Mausoleum.

And with that I’m signing out and leaving you to hunt for the rest of September — hurry up with the Demonology Hunt, it ends already on 15th. The two others run the whole of September. In October I’ll no doubt be busy again and will post again in a year or so! ^_^
