It is the night of colours breaking through the darkness. The night when even the Abyss glows. The night when the Lost, the Exiled, the Banished can find their way again.

They have waited, oh, how they have waited. Each night a thousand more, wrapped in the dark, their sense of self eroding until they are one with the Abyss, one dark being forever waiting. Until the Night arrives, until the glow separates them once more, gifts them separation, an identity. Shows them the way out.

The Wrench Hand

“Miss Abigail, a moment of your time?”

“Abby. By Gear and Gadget, do I look like a nob? ‘m a wrench hand, you can drop the blasted misses.”

“Abby. I was just wondering what exactly it is that the… wrench hands do in the Spiral?”

“What does it look like we do? Pick daisies? We make sure the bloody thing doesn’t blow up while you folks prance about in the fancy dances. ‘n it ain’t easy sometimes, let me tell you.”

“Ah. At least I am extremely grateful for that, let me assure you. But isn’t that dreadfully dangerous? Isn’t there some more… mechanical labor for such tasks?”

“Are you kidding me? Do you have any idea how much the Prototypes cost to create? They’re delicate machinations, the gearwork alone- …I mean, humans are always expendable, doesn’t cost much to make one of us, huh? Add a few implants for ocular accuracy and heat exhaustion and you have a new wrench hand.”

“…and how do you feel about that?”

“How do I feel about that? ‘m bloody- …oh, good day, Gazer, good day… grateful and happy to be able to keep us safe, naturally. What else?”

Burlesque, Take Two

I’ve been meaning to do this for a while now. Actually, every time I look at my site stats. My most viewed post that I constantly get hits on is from  February 2011 and it’s called Brief Burlesque. I have no idea if it’s in some strange gallery somewhere or if people just do ‘burlesque’ searches all the time and end there, but regardless: time for take two.

When I saw that deviousMind has a gacha of these outfits, I was porting over faster than you can say ‘feathers’. Then I obviously had to recreate the spirit of that first photoshoot and use a dance instead of static poses. Which resulted into hours of dancing around and taking pictures because yegads, trying to catch the right angle when shimmying about is not easy. Obviously wasn’t having fun at all. Noes, never.

As for the runner-ups stat-wise I’ve already done a take two on the golden skin so guess next I have to re-do the Minoan snake goddess… as soon as I see an updated outfit for that.

52 Colours: Madder Lake Deep

The name of the colour piqued my interest so I did some poking around the net to find out that madder is a plant whose roots have been used to produce red dye for millennia and lake in this context does not refer to water, but is derived from lac. We’re speaking of the bright, strong red in the old masterworks. If it weren’t December, I might have gone to that direction, but since it is I admit I took the easy route and interpreted it as ‘santa red’. Shame on me. The hair by D!va, skin by Izzie’s and the house by Trompe Loeil can all be found in the current Collabor88. A lot of the decor is my old favourites of the season, but the noms and champagne by Poche in the foreground are available in RMK Gothic Frost Fair. The Ashraya dress by Geometry was just the right red and with all the gold it turned the whole look into a decoration, just need to find a big enough tree. I liked how the skin looks both fresh and blushed, either straight out of snow or perhaps after a tad too much mulled wine. I added a makeover by M.O.C.K. Cosmetics to take the skin even more to a holiday-at-home direction and crowned it with the As Darkness Falls necklace by House of Rain.

This Is Halloween

I was just listening to it and since the official wonderful excuse to blame all the costumes on it is soon gone, I wanted to use it. I also wanted to make Halloween looks that are less costumeish and more approaching fashion. For this purpose I went to Zibska, because Zib’s creations always dance within the borders of couture and eccentric, perfect to either style up to avant garde or in this case: turn to Halloween.

Aliwera has a mesh skirt and extreme middle and head attachments, curving in gothic spikes that you could style for a spider queen, but I went more into basic classic noir glamour with it.

Ariane turned into a bone dancer, but it could be styled into a period dress or kawaii lolita look effortlessly. I simply could not resist Nuuna’s skeleton skin, so perfect for Halloween. If you leave the dress away, you have a PG skeleton skin to run around in.

Felicienne turned into a fashionable jester. Add an axe for Halloween parties and you’re set! The best part about shopping fashion for costumes is that you have outfits you can use all around the year, it’s simply a matter of how you style them.

52 Colours: Charcoal

Miss Charcoal is made out of two old and one brand new favourite of mine. The W.P. Nightmare outfit by Bare@Rose has classic goth vampire vibe to it without being pure textureless black. Yes, it’s vampire time again. I shall blame Halloween while knowing none of you believe it: any season is a vampire season!

Sky Everett’s Temptress hair has always been my go-to for when making classy vampire women in gowns. It’s Elvira with extra sophistication. As for my new favourite, Izzie’s Fuyu-skin has this special edition available only in The Costume Ball. It comes with several lipsticks, including the red one here.

Speaking of old favourites: the sim is another of them. World’s End Garden continues to provide for all your romantic, poetic goth scenery needs. Less blood and darkness, more melancholy and longing.

Zodiac: Scorpio

Stereotypically Miss Scorpio is the sexy redhead from any film ever, the one who oozes sex, trips the man on the floor and holds them there with a stiletto heel. Then the handcuffs come out. She’s also the redhead woman who will completely utterly destroy the said man’s life if she believes she has been scorned or betrayed: vengeance is her middle name.

Stereotypes aside Scorpio is an extremely intense sign, both in good and bad. They are fiercely independent, driven and when they set their mind on something, they will also achieve it. They might seem a bit aloof, because they keep their surface smooth, covering the depth of emotions.

If you manage to win a Scorpio over, they are extremely loyal friends and passionate lovers. Keep in mind though that Scorpios remember every slight and can bear a grudge for the rest of their lives, so make sure you never betray them.

Just like all the water signs, Scorpio is a well of imagination and intuition, but unlike shy Cancer or dreamy Pisces, they have the energy and fire to apply all of that into advancing in life: whether it’s career-wise or life in general, Scorpios are out to get what they want.

Scorpio-inspired round of Zodiac event has started: the hair, corset, necklace, chair and pose are from there. Steph-hair by *Alice Project* is a perfect combination of sensuality and attitude for any Scorpio girl out there. Most signs might shy away from literal bad-ass symbolism, but Scorpios would probably indulge in them: thus the Serket’s Servant necklace by A:S:S and Scorpion Chair by Conspiracy Theory. The Scorpio girl had to have a corset, there was absolutely no way around that, and fortunately *Perception* had both over- and underbust versions available. The standing pose is one from Exposeur’s pack called She’s Crafty.

The skin and makeup by Izzie’s are from another event that just started: The Costume Ball. I felt it nailed the Scorpio attitude of sexy danger just perfectly.

Ambroise’s Vision

Ambroise goggles are a new release from Zibska and they were so outrageous with all the plumage that my first thought was the Capitol from the Hunger Games. I couldn’t quite pull off Effie though, so I adjusted the look into various darks, letting the goggles and feathers steal the show.

The Plaisance collar that looks like a collection of cubes is also by Zibska and it felt sufficiently cyber to be worn in the future. The top is from an old sale of Miamai’s, but the latex leggings by [ SAKIDE ] are currently available in the Resting Place — Pulse’s Halloween event — if you manage to find them!

I wanted something slightly strange and hinting to the Capitol’s bodymods or at least to more futuristic design to add to the whole, so Grollwerk’s hoof boots it is! Perfect to prance about in while preening in the feathers and watching the world through purple-colored goggles.

52 Colours: Cosmic

For once I did not go straight to scifi even though the name of the colour practically demanded it. Guess Miss Cosmic is an aspiring starlet artist name instead!

The hair was in one of the past 50L Fridays by Wasabi Pills, but you can still get it in their normal colour selections for normal price, of course. The dress is actually the Liaison-chemise by Volstead, available in Cinema that just opened today. Sheer mesh is a wonderful thing, providing allure to less slinky shapes.

The Charleston slippers are also by Volstead, but the Dauphine socks are by Sn@tch. As is obvious by the purple hair, I was not even trying to make a historically accurate look, more like the new coming of the twenties far in the future.

The surroundings are one of the dream scenes by Garden of Dreams, this one called The Piano Bar. The perfect place for scandalously dressed starlets for career-starting! When you go to Cinema, you can find Volstead here. It’s also good to remember to prune down your scripts before going: easier for everyone shopping, yourself included.

Madame Guillotine

Only because “Their heads? Off with them.” felt slightly too long a title. Besides, Madame Guillotine is a perfect character to spawn from the current Twisted Hunt. She could easily be some sort of a spirit of the machine in a supernatural horror movie, hovering about and grinning as the blade keeps coming down, the last thing you’ll ever see.

The guillotine is by Culprit. It’s macabre, perfectly functional and morbidly hilarious at the same time with its leg twitching and kangaroo head in the bucket. The surroundings are the Church of Starry Wisdom by Souzou Eien, showing what happens to the heads afterwards: into the starry abyss gate of monsters!

The red vinyl dress by Sassy!, mesh eyes by -{The Attic}-, skin by Style by Kira and the chess board facial tattoo by Reila Skins are also from the hunt, but I did add a red lipstick by Izzie’s and blood tattoo layer by The Plastik to the mix. Boots, hair and poses are also not from the hunt.
