Treat or Treat?

We don’t have Halloween in Finland. Not really. We do have pyhäinpäivä, which has basically same roots, but it’s the day to visit graves, bring candles and such. Nothing to do with the witches, tricks or treats. These days there are Halloween-parties in Finland, but it’s a very late commercial, global addition to the culture and mostly just for kids to have an extra candy-day. This is one of the many reasons I absolutely love Halloween in SL, of course. ❤

To make a proper Halloween Feast I visited Poche and raided all their noms! If you’ve never been there, do go and check out -everything-. A lot of the freebies are just clickable objects around or sold in vendors in the side booth. I always get cravings when just -looking- at their stuff, yegads. The adorable autumn-appropriate collar is a subscribo gift by SoliDea FoliEs and the cutesy bunny-face tattoo layer is a hunt gift by JeSyLiLo. I was there to do another hunt and grabbed this one because I always find all the other hunt objects before the one I intend to. Sonya’s default-look of League-skin, Poetic Colors-eyes and Redgrave lashes work as the base and the hair underneath the witch hat is by Elikatira, who is having a sale until Sunday!

The feast got overrun by roos! Fine, fine, I set it up just for them. The dryads will retire soon, after all. Figured they could nom their tummies full before running back to mythical forests of roodom somewhere out there. The pumpkin and candles decoration behind Pihlaja and Talvi is by LISP Bazaar from Zombie Popcorn Hunt. The table is an old hunt gift by Nonino and everything on it is either roos or noms by Poche. The fancy red ring on the Roo Witch is by .( bewildebeest )., because I’m apparently incapable of making a look without Coyo’s shinies. The nom-stealing pose is by No Strings Attached.

The rest of the outfit is composed of a dress by Riddle (in the Knitting Circle Bake Sale), shoes by Romance, tights by Latte and an old witch hat by Grim Bros. The broom is by Little Heaven, and not available anymore. The hay cart by Kusshon and the tree by Glitterati are both from the Seasons Hunt. With Halloween drawing near, a lot of the hunts will end as well. Make sure you’ve grabbed everything you want to!

52 Colours: Apricot

Meh at all the bland pastels. Meh, I say! Miss Apricot agreed with me. I told her that apricot was surely some sort of girly flowing romantic dress colour and she hissed at me. Then she locked herself in the attic and refused to come down so I had to take pictures of her in there, instead.

She has a cosy little reading corner arranged in the attic of the house by (TLND) from Poupee Hunt. The comfy pillows with the book are by The Family Jewels, the old notebooks are by POST and the coffee mug on them by Art Dummy! The hair with the hat by Red Queen is really what nailed Miss Apricot’s personality. I knew that exact moment who she was. No stilettos for her, espadrilles by Gos instead. I couldn’t resist the .( bewildebeest ). ring though, it matched so nicely.

After a long moment of wibbling, Miss Apricot deigned to stand up, but she was still reading a book by Slow Kitchen. The shirt that actually is the proper colour for this week is from a dress by PixelDolls… although by the time you read this I think it’s not available anymore, what with the big retirement sale having ended. Can’t wait to see what Neph comes up with now! The capris are by The Plastik. Yes, still going through that giant pile of gifts. Miss Apricot has several fun things on her walls: painting by Dreamscapes Art Gallery, medieval map by Oriolus Oliva, steampunk dragon by DragonLady Designs and the board covered with notes by Nordari. The yellow little purse in the pillow pile is by Ohmai.

I momentarily tempted her wrath and yoinked the book away just so we could have a closer look at the glasses by Amaranthus and the necklace by .( bewildebeest ). — the latter is a subscribo gift. In the background you can see a sideboard bookshelves by Kusshon, a DnD Player Handbook by *Boof. and a bamboo planter by Arctic Greenhouse. The cute little bamboo is a prize in a memory game there. Miss Apricot has a skin by The Plastik, eyes by Poetic Colors and eyeliner & tattoo lashes by Miamai. She also has a pose by Striking Poses that tells me I should hurry up and give her book back!

52 Colours: Melon

Melon was an interesting thing to put together. Not only did it need to be funny and quirky and even silly, it was way too pastellish for me to have much anything in it. All ‘melon’ searches brought up bright watermelon entertainment. Fortunately Curious Kitties had their summer festival going on with plenty of freebies, including this skin. The blush on the cheeks was pretty much perfect for this.

I also realized that this dress by The Plastik had melon tones in it and so I had to use it again. The watermelon noming otter is by Risusipo. Hair by Lo*momo, eyes by Umedama Holic, earrings by Sweet Leonard & Needful Things and necklace by .( bewildebeest ).

The watermelon kitty vehicle in the background is also by Curious Kitties and the watermelon noming bat by Pink Fuel. Pose is by Olive Juice and as for all the honey things, they’re by Saturnine Dreams. The hangout is a prize in Waffle Fox Hunt and the bigger hive was dropped on me by Maddy just because I thought it was nifty. ❤ They worked pretty much perfectly for Miss Melon, who insisted on being Miss Honey Melon, thank you very much.

I felt bad because I had blogged so many of these things before that I madeds you a bonus picture out of the watermelon things. Nothing to do with melon as a colour, but plenty to do with the word!

The Torley-skin by The Plastik was absolutely perfect for this fun. It’s from the subscribo-gift. The outfit is by Sassy Kitty Designs (old hunt gift, originally a dress), the hair is a freebie by Curious Kitties and the fun waffle-shooting guns are by KUE!, from Waffle Fox Hunt as well. The little watermelon shooting chipmunk pirate is by Risusipo and the escape boat is by Kusshon (Seasons Hunt). The gun-toting pose is by Niqotine Poses, my go-to for combat posing.

The sisters Melon are obviously strange, but sweet, living in a honey house and performing waffle-abuse-robberies. With their minions. Of chipmunkish, battish and otterish variety.

Today is Pink Shirt Day, also known as Anti-Bullying Day. I admit that I hadn’t heard about this before, but I fully support the idea. Who wouldn’t? There’s an excellent post about this in FabFree blog and a list of designers who have created and give out pink things for this day in Schnappi’s blog.

So, for one day and one day only: Sonya voluntarily wearing something pink!

Latte wanted to pose for the Pink Shirt Day since she’s certain that if she had to live as a human, she’d get bullied because she’s so tiny. Bunnies are very much anti-bullying, thank you very much.

The nifty pink coat is from SD Wears (subscribo gift), bracelets from Violet Voltaire, hair Sky Everett, skin Djinn & Tonic and the pose in the lower picture from Long Awkward Pose. They have a whole set of bunny poses, which is every possible kind of awesome. Background in the lower picture has mainly mushrooms from New Trails and in the upper one the cottage from Zacca and a couple of couches from Kusshon. Oh, and my mp3-player from Hermes has an iTuTu frame~

Now remember, kids (and adults behaving like kids), if you have an actual healthy self-esteem, you don’t have to make others feel bad just to try and feel better about yourself. It won’t work.

Yes, we’re building steam~

The second STEAM Hunt is here! Like the last time, most of the prizes were gadgets, builds, furniture and strange contraptions — this is about steampunk, after all. Thus the skin in all the pictures is my default one from Djinn & Tonic, and the hair in all but the first picture is from Sky Everett. Neither is free nor part of the hunt. I didn’t find the Steam website, but they have a flickr pool with hint list and prize pictures here. The simplest way to get the shop list, SLURLs and hints is to join the group (do a search for Steam Hunt in groups) and grab the most up-to-date notecard from the past notices. They are updated regularly. And after this little disclaimer, onward to my favorites!

Not all adventuring archeologists wear fedoras or shorts. Some of them prefer Victorian coats and death rays! The beautifully textured outfit (and the gun) is from LnL, the hat with hair is from Fiction & Chaos, as well as the clock maker’s ocular attachment. The picture is taken in a huge Steampunk Sky Rock from Kusshon, in the cave part of it. There were several other areas with different poses, and even steampunk tools in a crate that you could tinker with. I added Pondulator from Rocket Creations to the left and EyePod Victrola from Things You’ve Myst to the right on the table. Have to have my Abney Park while adventuring! And who self-respecting steampunk adventurer would go exploring without a pondulator? Please.

If death rays are too much for you, there’s always balloons! Julia Collection provided two versions of their hot air balloon — one for flying, the other for lounging and having a cup of tea. Except I am of course not drinking tea. Not while I have my shiny Steamy Espresso Machine (on the left) from Anna Darwinian! Steampunk Radio on the right is from Athy Designs. The outfit is from SteamBound, the mechanical arm from Yellow JesteR, necklace from ~Lantian~, bracelet from JaqueMate, hat from ~Illusions~ and the monocle from Rasetsukoku. It has a little tesla flicker in the corner that makes me beam. ^_^

If flying makes you nervous altogether, you can plan a sea trip while still all comfortable on the ground  — for example in this steampunk greenhouse from Kytheria. The Victorian ship captain’s desk and chair set is from MNM, and it had a lot of extra maps and an inkwell that gives you the quill in picture when touched. In the background there’s a steampunk shower from PdC, compass table from Oblonski and a cider machine from Steampunk’d on top of it. The dress is from Dressed by Lexi, bracelets from JaqueMate and the Morpheus top hat is from Grim Bros. Peer closer at that shiny top. There are -sheep- in it. Sheep and gears and strange glow and whatnot. @.@

The hunt is on until the end of March, so still plenty of time to get your gears in order~
