“Everyone safely out from the water and drying in the sun? Good good. What’s this… ah, sun screen spreading service hedgie, most kind of you. Mr. Squirrel, you dropped an ice cream on Adler’s head? I’m sure he’ll find it refreshing, not to worry.”

“Yes, I do agree that my shoes make perfect perches, well spotted. …sure, you may use that as a floating device, little hedgie, or possibly a hat for two. Picnic ready and mostly not nibbled? Excellent.”

“No, I don’t need the hat right now, feel free to play with it, I have tweeties to carry anyway. Remember to build a big guest room to the sand castle, I have a feeling we’re going to need it. Oh, and someone water the flower vases. Not you, Adler, you can’t reach.”

“Everyone alive, relaxed and counted for? No pair of paws lost or splashing too far? Good. Countdown to otter relaxation in three… two…”

It’s summer. I poked at my inventory curiously to see what would fall out to make a post and this simply happened. There’s plenty of stuff that was from the June’s Arcade round or Summer Fest or even earlier, but a little critter picnic needs what it does, no arguments. I did manage to sneak in some things that were still current, though.

Today’s the last day of Oh My Gacha, so if you want the eyes by Pin Me Down, skin by .Birdy., panda floaties by D-LAB or the seal pup by Alchemy, hop over here in a hurry. It’s also the last day for Creation.jp, where the ruffly summer outfit by *Edelweiss* is from. The top comes with a HUD so you can click more ruffly layers on it to form a romper, but I felt the weather was too warm for that. You have more time to shop for the things from the Season’s Story like the flower vases by [ keke ], the blanket and the sketchbook by 8f8 and the summer orange tart by Poche. The hair and all the little tweeters around are of course by !Ohmai and can be acquired from Hair Fair: the separate little birdies are a freebie that comes with a cage, but it’s modable and therefore unlinkable if you want your birdies to be freeee.

Drifting

Perhaps there was an accident, perhaps the ship blew up. Perhaps it was taken over by space pirates and she fled through the air lock. Whatever the reason, there she is: drifting in the silence of space.

Slowly maneuvering in the asteroid field, searching for a place to land before her air supply runs out, swimming in slow motion through the dark ocean of stars.

A mysterious space cave on a small moon with atmosphere and air to breathe is perfect. For now. Who knows what the possible inhabitants of the said moon think of the visitor… better make sure the gear is in good order before exploring further.

Just because sometimes one simply needs to adventure in space. When the mood hits, it’s always a bonus when you can look stunning while doing so.

GALLACTIC has recently released space helmets, ray guns and circuit boots to complete the expanding collection of delicious cyber bodysuits. Much rejoicing was had from all the space adventurers across the grid!  The Purple Stripe skin by Pink Fuel is available in a gacha in The Arcade, although I must say I added more stripeness to it with +Nuuna+’s makeups.

Burlesque, Take Two

I’ve been meaning to do this for a while now. Actually, every time I look at my site stats. My most viewed post that I constantly get hits on is from  February 2011 and it’s called Brief Burlesque. I have no idea if it’s in some strange gallery somewhere or if people just do ‘burlesque’ searches all the time and end there, but regardless: time for take two.

When I saw that deviousMind has a gacha of these outfits, I was porting over faster than you can say ‘feathers’. Then I obviously had to recreate the spirit of that first photoshoot and use a dance instead of static poses. Which resulted into hours of dancing around and taking pictures because yegads, trying to catch the right angle when shimmying about is not easy. Obviously wasn’t having fun at all. Noes, never.

As for the runner-ups stat-wise I’ve already done a take two on the golden skin so guess next I have to re-do the Minoan snake goddess… as soon as I see an updated outfit for that.

Ambroise’s Vision

Ambroise goggles are a new release from Zibska and they were so outrageous with all the plumage that my first thought was the Capitol from the Hunger Games. I couldn’t quite pull off Effie though, so I adjusted the look into various darks, letting the goggles and feathers steal the show.

The Plaisance collar that looks like a collection of cubes is also by Zibska and it felt sufficiently cyber to be worn in the future. The top is from an old sale of Miamai’s, but the latex leggings by [ SAKIDE ] are currently available in the Resting Place — Pulse’s Halloween event — if you manage to find them!

I wanted something slightly strange and hinting to the Capitol’s bodymods or at least to more futuristic design to add to the whole, so Grollwerk’s hoof boots it is! Perfect to prance about in while preening in the feathers and watching the world through purple-colored goggles.

Suddenly Warmer

Stand up and shout! That’s the name of the pose set with the mic props by BENT. It was made for Limited Bazaar, where a limited amount of items are for sale at discount prices. When the event is over, the items will still be sold in the respective main stores, but at full prices, so if you want some attitude in your SLife, go see if there’s any of these left!

The horns (that to me look like wicked bunny ears, of course) are by lassitude & ennui and they’re available in the Starlust Monster Beach Party for the whole of October. Go browse, shop and have fun: just be careful of any encounters of tentacular nature!

The eye makeup is a mix of two, both by Beautiful Freak. The long side squiggles can be found in a gacha at Monster Gacha Festival, which also lasts the whole month. I added their Poison liner to it for extra attitude. Lipstick is by M.O.C.K. Cosmetics and the Opera choker is one of my favourites from Donna Flora.

The surprisingly cutesy pleated mesh mini skirt is by Nomine, matching the Phoebe boots by lassitude & ennui. The boots are currently available only in L’accessoires. I set my demonic little star to the stage she deserves: the Hell Throne by Garden of Dreams.

52 Colours: Amaranth

Amaranth meant two things to me: 1) a Nightwish song 2) diablerie, the act of drinking all the vitae (blood) of another vampire and consuming their undead soul in the World of Darkness games. Apparently in some of them the victim-to-be was sent the amaranth-flower a week before the crime. Obviously the flower is where the name of the colour comes from, but like I could resist the temptation to make a vampire gone bad… even more bad than default, that is.

Just one picture, because as much as I liked the story behind the character, I really didn’t have much anything near the colour of dull red with pink tone and you know me and pinks… I’m not shopping for these. Fortunately the base of this hair by esk-imo had the right tone, complete with pink highlights.

52 Colours: Hunter Green

Obviously I had to make a hunter. The problem was in deciding what kind. This green is like the classic elven ranger colour, but I realized I was lacking a decent bow — shame on me. In the end I went into a completely different direction. I blame Ely’s evil necromantic plant girl in Guild Wars 2.

Perhaps she’s an evil dryad, perhaps she’s a spirit of carnivorous plants, perhaps she simply found a way to live in a symbiosis with vines, to stalk and observe from above before descending upon her prey… who knows. The actual hunter green item match is the swimming suit by Miamai that I grabbed from the sale going on at the moment.

The hair that really makes the look is by Curious Kitties and since it was their prize in the Crazy Hair Hunt, I’m not sure if it’s available anymore. It is super fun and appropriate, though. Especially since some of its tendrils move on their own. The eye makeup tattoo by Sn@tch is also an old hunt gift, so no guarantees on it either! The skin is one of the Glam Affair fantasy tones from The Arcade gachas.

The scenery is the dream scene called Hidden Cove by Garden of Dreams, perfect for urgent need for a jungle to pose in. The poses are all a part of a pole prop called Cirque Dreams by BENT. I used it as a convenient branch for this shoot, but obviously it’s meant more for dancing and circus style. It’s available in FAIR, which is a new event that opened today.

Dementia Has No Name

The title is a combination of the name of the first lingerie set, Dementia by Dare Designs, and the collar and the jacket by Zibska called NoName. Dementia is a new release with several layer options, also considerably skimpier ones, but I felt like styling these in a more vintage fashion. After all, it’s soon time for Vintage Fair!

Why yes, yes they are skulls in the collar and jacket. I’d imagine either could be styled into a very fashionable bad-ass look, but after I saw the Maeve lingerie below and the Dementia above, I knew I wanted to take vintage pin-up pictures. There’s something irresistible in the aesthetic: a mix of class, enticement and attitude.

Zibska’s jacket, collar and Maeve-lingerie are available in Vanity Fair, which will run until 11th August. Better hurry over and check it all out before the other events begin: it’s going to be a busy month.

Zodiac: Leo

Zodiac is a new monthly event themed around the sign that is current in each month, thus beginning with Leo. I’ve always liked astrology, so the idea of getting to make a character for each sign did make me squee. I’ll start with Miss Leo on stage: the perfect place for her.

Leos are the lions, the rulers of their own jungle, the kings and queens, the stars in the spotlight. They can be warm-hearted, generous, benevolent and extremely funny. They can also be drama divas plotting cunning plans to win, whatever the definition of winning is for them. Winning is what it’s all about.

The red carpet and all the luxuries it brings are not a reward for leos, they’re birth-right. All the attention and the riches are rightfully theirs, at least if you ask them! They love grand gestures, in both good and bad, the show, the drama, the epic.

They also have the ability to improvise on spot and are extremely creative and spontaneous. There’s also the indulgent vanity and the difficulty of resisting the call of the hunt when they see a new shiny…

Speaking of new shinies: check the hilariously awesome claw pumps by [HANDverk], perfect for leo girls. Gold is obviously the colour for them and Miamai’s half-mesh dress compliments their attitude. 52 Colours: Unmellow Yellow

This is one of those rare weeks where I struggled so much with both the look and the pictures that when everything finally clicked together for one picture, the others were so inferior in comparison that I cannot bare to have them accompany the good one. Just one picture for Miss Unmellow Yellow, who turned to be a sun fairy.

I found the colour matching fairy outfit from *Deviance* and the exotic alien plant is the latest group gift by the Booshies. This plant is scriptless and simply decorative, but apparently the real ones will grow food for the booshies to eat. Perfect for fairies to flitter around!
