I know it’s not yet December, that’s the whole point. Did you really think we bother checking on people then? Everyone expects us around that time. The point is to keep an eye on people around the year, not just for one month.

So, I hope you have tried your best to get to the right list this year. I assure you that the difference between rum bottles and pink oversized sweaters is very clear. The Little Helper Division always follows the rules. We know that if we don’t, there’ll be brown quilting in our future.

For your sake we better have very clear documents and proof on your general level of naughtiness. If we don’t you better hurry, dress in black and indulge in some gothic debaucheries right this moment. We have house appliances in storage if you don’t.

We don’t even have to check our list twice, because we happen to be sufficiently efficient the first time. You just watch out, because Sandy Claws is coming to town and Gothmas is just around the corner!

The Blue Lady of Gentle Waves

Dream Guardians come in many shapes and forms, sizes and temperaments. The Blue Lady has carried many names in many cultures, times and places: Soft Singer. Hazebringer. Sway of Serenity. Calm Caller. The Sailor of the Gentle Waves.

She is the one you call when you sing a lullaby, the one you hope will come to you when you take a deep breath and wish to find peace in your dreams. Her presence soothes all the daily worries, lets them fade into the blue haze, lets your mind drift freely and rest calmly.

She will sail on the river of dreams for as long as you are with her: always sailing for the destination is not of importance, only the gently rocking motion of the boat and the lullaby of lapping waves.

No nightmare dares to approach her. They know that near her even they would lose their power and drift to peaceful sleep at her feet, too content to remember the horrors they had conjured up. So she sails with her peaceful passengers that come and go as they reach for her in their dreams and fade back to the waking world well-rested: sails and smiles.

What If?

It is the night for dark secrets, mysteries and myths. It is time for imagination to dwell in all the frightful spots at the back of your head, indulge in the startles, channel your mundane concerns into the fear of unknown and improbable, with that faint little voice within asking ‘what if?’ 

It is time for delicious treats, delicious thoughts. Make your fears tangible, taste them on the tip of your tongue, reach for more, find ways to combat them by becoming one yourself.

Take comfort in the knowledge that soon the visitation will be over and everything will be back to safe normalcy: all the monsters will be back under your bed or in your closet, haunting you only in the moments of your weakness.

But for now, tonight: dance with demons, inhale the fear, let the quiet what-if whisper grow into a roar: What if it is all true? Why couldn’t it be? After all, This Is Halloween.

Liberty of Mind

What would happen if you’d truly free your mind? Open up all the cages of preconception, pull back the dark coils of public opinion, release all the tentative ponderings free to fly.

Would they surprise you, your own thoughts, your own preferences and opinions? Would you like them, understand them, comprehend yourself better? Would you see eye to eye or struggle to accept yourself?

There is only one way to find out: lure them out from their hiding, remove the excuse covers you had piled up on them, break all the dimmed windows walling them in and let them fly free.

The Alchemist

It’s all about secrets. Secrets and uncovering them. Truths beyond the known and mundane. Most of all it’s about the burning curiosity to learn, to see, to understand. Often also about the power that the knowledge brings, no matter which face the power wields: security, wealth, control, ambition, longevity, life.

There are books, tomes, legends of old to form the first steps: to detail what others before you have learned. It is faster than trying to do every basic process yourself, leaning on the curiosity and wisdom of others for the groundwork.

But in the end the book-knowledge will reach its limits and the only way forward is to experiment further yourself. Find and map new ways, test and define, draw new parameters after every failure until you can pinpoint the exact method for success.

Like here: developing the most soothing bath system for mermaids and their cephalopodian friends. Just a touch more sea salt and a little pinch of powdered coral and it’s ideal.

Titania’s Call

Trapped on a distant shore, banished to another plane, lost in a world alien to her, she calls. Who knows why she is there, what her crimes were, if she is innocent to any except her very existence, if she used her powers for her own gain and was caught or if the ruler of her own plane changed and she fell out of favour.

The delicate bracelets grow and wrap and pulse around her wrists, keep her from casting a portal home, imprison her to the spot, immortal life turned into a punishment of watching the blood red skies and calling, always calling.

All she has left is hope and time. Neverending supply of one, desperate surge of the other. Her eternal red dusks are spent in weaving plans. There is nothing else to do: weave and keep calling. Never stop calling.

The Butterfly Dance

It is what they do: dance. They flitter in the air, carried by the tiniest breezes, practically weightless, just a shape of bright colours in the corner of your eye.

Once in more solid humanoid form, they still dance. They still feel drawn to colours, flowers and growth. They still greet the sun like it was the main source of nourishment instead of the sweet nectar.

They still live in the now of the current ray of light, the warmth, the sights, the tastes, the movement. Every dance could be the last, so they never cease embracing the sun.

Find the Colours

Life can easily feel black and white sometimes. Not only in the clarity within your mind about how things are, without a doubt or a second thought, but in that there’s no colours anymore.

Every day routines turn dull, force blinders on you, keep you treading the same path, staring straight ahead — or at your feet so you won’t slip — preventing you from seeing any other paths around you.

If something makes you raise your head to look around, you might realize there’s other paths, countless roads leading to different destinations and that some of them are still brightly coloured and alive. That something is usually a question, a doubt, that second thought about if things truly are meant to be this way.

The trick is to find those colours, to follow them to find more, to paint your life alive again.

Bonus to Stun

It’s what drow (and elven in general) armors have always been based on: less the actual protection, more the stun effect of the opposite gender staring and gaping with their mouths open, making them easy kills.

Therefore bright colours, daring cuts, form enhancing designs and silky fabrics have always been on top of the armory list. The illusion of armor can be achieved by adding pieces of beautifully smithed metal into areas that do not cover anything strategically sexual, like shoulders and arms.

The more serious soldiers might even pass the traditional stiletto heels and wear pragmatic stompers instead, but only if they are sufficiently gorgeously crafted. Balancing the look with enough eyecatchers slightly higher will guarantee the successful stun effect.

The skin by Fallen Gods Inc., the hair by Analog Dog and the pauldrons, bracers and the boots by [The Forge] are all available in the current round of We Love Role-play Event. The necklace by [The Forge] that the drow is using as an improvised headband/crown can be won in Fantasy Gacha Carnival. Despite astonishing match I must put an extra disclaimer on the system layers and the coat tails: the outfit is by Bare@Rose, one of my old favourites. It simply worked so perfectly with the armor bits that I had to combine the two.
