Starlet and the Space Trade

It is more than slightly alarming to be approached by tiny green men in a flying saucer in the middle of the shooting of your latest pre-historical film. What do they want? Where’s the security? Surely they’re not a part of the plot, the ancient records state there was no hover-technology yet at the time!

Ohh, they are fans wanting a picture and an autograph! Very well, guess it’s alright this once, although the security is still getting fired afterwards, these perfectly historically accurate looks are expensive, cannot let just any-being fly in on the set.

They are definitely forgiven since they brought a present: a special breed of space hedgehogs, mutated into ice cream. Now the question is whether to keep it around as a pet or to eat it… Thank you, tiny green fan, perhaps we could come to an agreement about more ice cream animals for more pictures?

Sea Orchid

Mermaids of tropical waters are never just blue or green tailed. They most definitely do not have pale human skin like some of their more traditional cold-water cousins. No, the tropical mermaids flourish and flaunt their colours like the local fish do.

They bloom amongst the coral reefs, flicker about near the surface, splash water with their tails at unsuspecting sailors. They are the orchids of the mermaid garden, full of strong colour combinations and surprises.

They play, they dance, they explore. They collect random shiny things from wreckages, combine them with corals and fishbones, twine bright sea plants in their hair.

They are the sun-warmed water, the sound of friendly waves hitting the shore, the playful breeze on the surface, the current that sweeps you off your feet — or fins. They are the wavedancers, the laughter of the seas.

The original rigged mesh mermaid tails are a new release by The Muses, available in 24 different colour options. The hairdo by [Gauze] is one of their Hair Fair releases that you can find in their fair booth. The Ulani collar and hat by Zibska are a part of the The Gallery Gift Shop’s Second Anniversary. Grapes and Cream

Ice cream, that is. Cakes. Coffee. Noms of all sort. Cocktails, milkshakes, cherries and whipped cream. There’s something surreally decadent in delicacies that also look good, like they were made to give a feast to your eyes long before the taste registers, before that first bite.

One could argue that the looks of food have nothing to do with their nutritional value, but I beg to differ. There’s a different level of nourishment acquired through eyes, through nose, through mind. The expectation, the anticipation, the admiration… it all increases and adds to the taste, making it all the more delicious for it.

It’s exactly the indulgence in several senses instead of just one that makes them taste so good, the enticing sweet things. Take the time to crave for that bite and it will be immensely more satisfying.

The Night Flight

There’s a feeling of depth in the sky when it darkens. It reaches down, covers the world, becomes a more tangible part of it. Gone is the illusion of distance, of the various shades dancing on the edges of blue covering the heights above us: during the night sky is all around us.

The night makes it all a part of the same in our mindscapes, closes all distances, brings everything within touch range. It hides the sharp lines of logic and reality from our eyes and lures out the other senses, invites imagination, becomes a sensation instead of a sight.

Enough so that if you look up to the calling depths around and above, you could almost believe that all it takes is letting go and diving upwards. For the sky is just another sea.

Sky White, Snow Blue

Sometimes I think I’m pre-disposed to liking that combination just because I live in Finland and it’s so prevalent everywhere: snow covers everything for half a year, the second half the skies and the lakes turn blue, almost only additional mix is the green from the forests. Therefore this is a completely self-indulgent post of finding the combination beautiful.

There’s clarity in white: simplicity, purity, visibility. Nothing hidden. Blue is the colour of soothing calm, water’s touch, hue of melancholia, wistfulness. Together they are near-therapeutic to watch: serene, peaceful.

The stunningly beautiful near-white skin by Nuuna is available in the Skin Fair. The butterfly-resembling fans in a necklace by Zibska can be found in The Gallery Gift Shop (March 15th) and the delightfully decorated corset by lassitude & ennui will be in the Adore&Abhor Five Year Anniversary Event (March 16th). All in Your Head

Some days are more surreal than others. There’s whales in the lake and bunnies on the table. Party lights for no reason and way too little coffee to live with it all.

Conversations with fashionista meeroos don’t help much either, all they’re concerned about is how well they match to you.

Even the mystical macaw masked meeroos just keep telling you it’s all in your head. Perhaps so, but what a head it is! Life is never dull if you just take a deep breath and exhale out some imagination into the world.

White Rose

It started with Zibska’s Amelie jewelry set, roses covering the skin, changed to white for the winter. The Mira makeup combined with the Giddy hairdo raising up into the heavens turned the whole thing into a fashion shoot, so I wrapped the rest into SAKIDE’s Fashion Skull Dress and looked for a wintry setting.

The clockwork music bear by Fairlock Industries can be found in Unhinged Festival. Same with the dress, the slipper bench by Senzafine and the pots with flowers by Deep Blue Sea Designs. I had to lie down to have any chance of showing off the whole of the hair. Or maybe I slipped on ice while trying to balance with heels. The sacrifices I make for photos, yes.

The Amelie jewelry set is available in The Gallery Gift Shop, the makeup is a new release and the hair the current gift in Zibska. The surroundings are a dream scene by Garden of Dreams, a frozen pool in front of a wintry cabin. The non-fir trees are their new mesh chill grove trees, currently available in their Christmas Market with the cabin and many other wintry products being on discount.

Once you do have your wintry environments arranged, I do recommend skates instead of heels and something warmer than this to traipsing through the snow. Don’t try this at home without sufficient amounts of hot coffee, mulled wine or campfire!

Summer Sailing

I was tempted to call this post Sailor Cute, but I actually never watched Sailor Moon so my ability to make connections would have ended at the names. Regardless, this bikini by katat0nik is seriously the cutest sailor outfit ever while also being the most standout bikini of this summer. So much love.

My magical familiar companion is played by my meepet Lumi, modelling various funny Hair Fair gifts. The colour-change-scripted sailor hair is by Tameless, also a fair gift. Hair Fair is one of the best events for freebie-hunters, almost every booth has gifts to spoil us. My favourites tend to be the silly ones, it’s like a mini Crazy Hair Hunt.

The shed is a freebie by L2 Studio from the hunt at The Gallery Gift Shop. The decor is a mix from those hunt loots, the temporary closing sale at Concrete Flowers and this delicious drink by Poche from Okinawa Summer Festival.

I think in the end Sailor Cute decided that magical familiars do not need wigs to perform their sidekick duties, but I’d like to remind you that children do. Hair Fair is of course about several sims worth of new hair releases and gifts, but it is also about Wigs for Kids. By now the lag should have calmed down on the sims, so go buy all the things!

Gifts in the Gallery’s Garden

The Gallery Gift Shop is one of the genuinely intriguing events on the grid. There’s changing collections for your shopping pleasure, of course, but visiting it is always an experience. It truly is like going into an art gallery, except in our virtual world art does not have to stay on the walls.

There’s a hunt going on there at the moment, but what really caught my eye was this exhibition pantsuit by 22769 ~ Casual Couture. It isn’t even their latest release for the gallery, but it called to me. It spoke of the perfect mix of futuristic and retro, it conjured up a gallery owner walking the premises and I was immediately sold.

I also absolutely had to have the princess prim lashes by [#7]. Curliques and blue gems? Yes, please. I added PMD liner (these really are my favourites) and M.O.C.K. lipstick to nudge the look even more toward strong monochrome.

The Satsuma-hair is a new release by Rosy Mood, available in Hair Fair. It’s short and sleek, just the way I like them. Well, when I’m not liking them big and scandalously extravagant. Could go either way!

I’m warmly recommending giving the gallery a peek, even if you wouldn’t  be in shopping or hunting mood. It looks absolutely gorgeous and does good for your pixel spirits.
