Twice the Libertine

I have wanted to make this post since Volstead released the Libertine lingerie. I knew the vintage lace would match perfectly with the decadence of the Marquis furniture set by ~Libertine~ and the name match was just too entertaining to pass up.

The lingerie consists of system layer garments for panties and top and an additional sheer lace mesh top to give it a more realistic shape. If you’re feeling daring, try leaving the glitch layer out. The matching Charleston slippers are also by Volstead.

All of the furniture and decor are from the Marquis set, most of the pieces also sold separately. The furniture has mature (cuddles) and adult versions with even a completely safe lounger if you just want to pose with red velvet and golden curves.

Be careful of all the drinks though, you never know what might happen if you indulge too much. All of it is called Libertine for a reason.

Freedom

That’s the theme of this year’s Hair Fair Photo Contest. The rules are pretty flexible: only new pictures, hair can be any old thing or even self-made and the contest runs until June 30th. The Hair Fair itself will be in July, 14th to 29th.

I know it’s a cliche and an obvious association, but it’s such for a good reason. Flying is freedom, at least for me. Thus wings are the perfect symbol for it. I wanted a picture of flying, of long hair blowing in the wind and picked one of the Diva hairs from [ 69 ], probably not available anymore. There really should be much more editorial hairs on the grid, they’re wonderful for this kind of things.

Freedom is also about cutting ties and sailing wherever your imagination leads you. I originally wanted this one to be about cutting your hair — since sometimes it feels like I’m one of the few spokes-avatars for short hair on the grid — but what worked well as an idea looked like a beheading in the pictures. So symbolic pretty ribbon it is! The short hair is one of my favourite default ones from Waka & Yuki.

The Muses

All the slinky gowns! I do adore them. In this case these beauties are all by The Muses. From left to right Elegy, Archaic and Ballad. They will be available in the World Goth Fair when it opens tomorrow (May 15th).

The gowns are partial mesh, meaning that there’s a top, glitch pants and gloves in regular system layers and then sleeves and skirt part in mesh to add to them. This makes them fit your own shape flawlessly.

They come in several colours, only wine not shown in the first picture. My favourite was the blue one, so I took a couple of extra pictures with it. The lounging I Like It Spooky chair by Malfean Visions was just the right amount of elegance mixed with goth to go with the look. The House of Sorrows is by Urban Forge Virtuatecture, full of wonderful windows for shadowplay.

All the gorgeous eyeliners are by Pin Me Down, perfect to goth your eyes up fittingly. I know M.O.C.K. Cosmetics will be in the fair as well, but I don’t yet know which ones of her makeups will be available there. Her work tends to fit Sonya’s lips the best though, so I’m sure there’ll be squees by tomorrow!

52 Colours: Pueblo

This week I didn’t even try to find the colour in my inventory. You all know that anything I have in brown is steampunk-related and I felt that I’ve taken that route for all the browns too often. So I went my other default brown way and made a faun. A modern faun, bored in the forest.

There’s nothing boring in the Misty Mountains, though, and I warmly recommend visiting. The city faun just looked very out of place there. I got her outfit from the current sale in Mimikri. The sweater had the right tone and was so outrageous and funny with the huge poofy sleeves that it passed the ‘meh-casuals’ attitude I tend to have and sailed right into ‘nifty twist’ territory.

The city faun gave me an excuse to grab the latest shiny by Mandala. I know you all have it, too, no point in denying. The delicate lady-like horns are by *~*Illusions*~* and the cutesy faun skin by Pink Fuel.

These hooves by [Gauze] are probably the prettiest ones I’ve seen in SL. Perfectly shaped, realistic, almost delicate for a faun girl to step with. The tufts of fluff add a cute touch to them. As for where the faun girl ended up? That’s Coyote with thematically appropriate pueblos, shopping and art gallery.

Bilo for Beautiful

The word bilo in Punjabi means either cute or beautiful girl. This is more than fitting for {bilo}, which not only finally opened its doors, but is also having an opening sale!

This particular piece of beauty — Nadia dress in fern — is a group gift at the moment. The henna tattoos are -50% and are all based on her own RL henna designs. I grew especially fond of the idea of using leg henna as summer stocking-replacements.

Both dresses are partial mesh. What this means is that the top and pants are system layers and the additional skirt part is mesh. Just like we used to have with prim parts, but better. There’s demos available, give them a go. This is also pretty much the only way to have the stretchiness of mesh without editing your shape at all. For the moment, at least.

These partial mesh solutions finally give us own-shape fitting pencil skirts that work properly. So much love. The jewelry is by Amorous, which has the final day of their sale going on. Hint-hint, rush-rush. The hair by Exile is from My Attic, another last moment warning.

Champagne in Montmartre

Why not? After all, if the Mayans got it right this is the last New Year, hmm? Break out the champagne! Teleport to Montmartre! What do you mean we don’t have working teleporters yet? You call this 2012? For shame. (While I’m at it, where are our flying cars?)

The absolutely gorgeous little studio (yes, in Montmartre) is by Milk Motion. The champagne props and poses are by Glitterati. All of this was a part of the very last 50L Friday, marking an end of another SL era. 50L Fridays was the first of its kind and definitely deserves a toast in its honor. The sparkly little New Year number is by League (from an earlier 50L Friday, see what I mean?) combined with tights by LeeZu. The jewelry is by .( bewildebeest ). and otherwise I kept to very default Sonya-look. League-skin, Poetic Colors-eyes, Redgrave-lashes, Waka & Yuki-hair and make-up a combination of Sorry.Asia’s drama eyes and gloss by M.O.C.K. Cosmetics.

In case this is the last year — and especially in case it isn’t — it would be nice to fill it with all kind of awesome things to remember. More reasons to smile, for starters. You know, I wonder if that’s the reason for the champagne… every year-change is like a mental audit on things you did do and things you didn’t do. We all need a drink after that, right?

52 Colours: Orange

This is the last of the colours for this challenge. It feels very surreal. Sure, I got late into the challenge and posted the first fifteen colours in one go, but after that the colour-per-week has been sort of a time marker for my blog. If I have two in a row the lack of other blogging is so much more obvious than it would be without the colour-markers. We’ll see what will happen now that they’ll be gone.

I was tempted to put on an orange skin and make a crazy Halloween monster creation, but then I found this cocktail dress at G Field and decided that I’d end the challenge on a more subtle, sophisticated note. Miss Orange is on her way to a cocktail Halloween party, yesyes. Speaking of G Field, there’s a Halloween-sale going on for all the orange and purple items, thus also the matching shoes in the picture. The sale lasts until 31st, so you can still run over and grab awesomeness for half the price~

The nifty pumpkin make-up is by Elymode and I added Miamai’s lash-and-liner to it. The Halloweenish head decoration is by Likka*House, a part of their subscribo Halloween gift. Hair is by Waka & Yuki, skin by League, eyes by Poetic Colors and the earrings and the ring by .( bewildebeest )., because Coyo’s gifties are the best. ❤

The kitty-head candy-bowl is by Schadenfreude, you get candy if you touch it: perfect for Halloween parties! The fancy tights are by Le Poppycock and the spider ribbon necklace by G Field, from the Halloween subscribo gift. As for the pumpkins, Ely sent them my way randomly and they were too hilarious not to use. ❤ The first pose is by LAP and the third by TeaSoup. The skybox is an old hunt gift by Show Me On The Doll.

There’s still an official colour-wrap-up post to come, but otherwise this is it… been an education!

Still Falling~

More cute autumn things! I thought I’d wait a little, but then Chandra Masala of {bilo} dropped cute shirts on me and there I went again, building looks and squeeing my way through the settings. Have you ever noticed how in real life autumn goes from still-sort-of-summer into yey-pretty-colours-for-two-days and then into dark-cold-rainy-misery-for-months? Fortunately in SL the pretty-colours-phase stays all the way until the pretty pixel snow settles in.

See, cutesy shirt is cute! It went perfectly together with my new favorite autumn boots from Lassitude & Ennui and I had to continue the patchwork from the boots to the heart-patched tweed pants by Concrete Flowers. The golden face tattoo is by White Widow and the hair is the latest subscribo-gift by Exile. I love how mesh makes it finally possible to wear long hairs without them clipping through the body. ❤ Speaking of hearts, why yes, yes I’m wearing more of Coyo’s shinies in both pictures, .( bewildebeest ). is responsible for all the shinies! The scene is made of a harvest skybox by Umwelt, bed by Art Dummy!, bee bag by Tokidoki (all three from Seasons Hunt) and a pygmy puff by Ohmai Emporium. …yes, I finally had to get one. Too adorable!

There’s a Chestnut Hunt going on in SwayLand and one of the prizes is this adorable garden harvest house by Zacca. I’m standing on the stairs in front of it and added an old stove by Kari (Seasons Hunt) on it to get something warm to drink. The coffee is by Sweet Leonard & Needful Things, though. The scarf by Duboo and the laced top by Kyoot are also from the Seasons Hunt. I matched a skirt by Kyoot to them and then decided to go mostly monochrome with the look, mostly to show off these quirky ghost-tights by {Bingo} that I got from a lucky board. Shoes by G Field, hair by Waka & Yuki and pose by TeaSoup. Both pictures have the default-sonya League-skin, Poetic Colors-eyes and Redgrave-lashes.

52 Colours: Brick Red

Another brick-related red, this time almost pink in tone. On my screen, at least. I felt particularly uninspired by it, I must say, so I tried to at least find a nifty bricksy place to take pictures in. This was no mean feat since I don’t actually save landmarks with ‘awesome brick build!’ comments. *coughs* However, I did succeed and find a pretty shopping sim with brick buildings! The Nest is a gorgeous wander-and-shop area with plenty of awesome furniture shops, sort of a joint effort on their part to have them all in the same place.

The only piece of garment with the right tones that I had was a mini dress by Acid & Mala. Miss Brick Red refused to wear the dress though and told me she was a pants-wearing girl, so I turned the dress into a top instead. I matched the hair to the boots for a darker tone to frame the top — boots from a pirate outfit by Little Heaven, the hair by Waka & Yuki. Pose by Olive Juice.

I used a skin by Ploom and played with tattoo layers for make-up: Mynerva eyeliner & shadow, Miamai lashes, Esk-Imo lipstick. Bright bangle by LaGyo, red eyes and black pants both by The Plastik. Now that Miss Brick Red is facing us, we can witness one of the not-so-nice side effects of shadows. What without shadows is a perfectly even sharp bangs turns into a notched look like your hairdresser had a vendetta against you. I was despairing about this, I assure you. In the end I decided I liked the hair so much that even that wouldn’t stop me wearing it for this and that actually it gave Miss Brick Red more edge and character. *nods*

The wonderful Bubbles-ring is by .( bewildebeest ). — I love big rings in SL. Too often small jewelry — no matter how delicately made in greatest detail simply goes unnoticed or even unrezed. Rather wear one or two big pieces that show! The cascade-earrings are Coyo’s handiwork as well, all of them review copy gifties~ ❤ The tattoo that is peeking from beneath the top is by Re.Birth, a part of an old hunt gift look.

Now if I could get Miss Brick Red away from the swings and playgrounds I might actually get some furniture shopping done…

52 Colours: Jazzberry

Another colour I had never even heard of! Sort of like raspberry, but obviously much more silly. I decided to embrace the silliness and so Miss Jazzberry went to a fair~

The hair with hat and wonderful colour-change script is from Waka & Yuki’s retirement sale. It was pretty much the beginning point for the look. I added eyes and freckles by The Plastik and a skin and lipstick by Curio, the tone was just so fitting. The eye make-up is by Mynerva and the Io earrings are by .( bewildebeest )., another pick from the loot pile Coyo tossed my way. ❤

The top that matched perfectly with the hair is by Sn@tch, the pants are by KOSH and the deliciously colourful boots by Lassitude & Ennui, from Cupcake War Hunt. The adorable bunny tattoo sleeves are by Katat0nik.

The cupcake balloon is by Sanu and the poses in order are by LAP, Poise and this last one was a part of the lighthouse where Miss Jazzberry admired the fair. Where was the said fair, you ask? On The Pier, which I located with the magical skills of typing ‘carnival’ into Search and hopping over.

Everyone needs a day dedicated to silliness and cotton candy, we should all follow Miss Jazzberry’s example and enjoy some~
