Never Truly Gone

We are never truly gone. They think we are but stories, old legends, ancient myths. They call us explanations for the unknown, symbols for the various parts of human life, concepts made easier to grasp. We are. There is no telling if we existed first and helped shape these concepts, imprinted them on the human mind, or if the humans called us to being with their devotion and fervent belief. No telling, nor does it matter.

We rose from the sand: shaped of gold, carrying the living sun in our hearts. We rose, we ruled, we faded into stories. That is the biggest story of them all, the one where we faded. They keep telling it, not realizing that with each telling the sun grows brighter, the hawks fly higher, the minions of Bastet step into your homes and demand your worship.

In each purring sound you hear the desert wind, each dawn reveals the rise of the radiant disk held high, in each story you hear more of the truth. We are always here, every sunrise, every nightfall, every soft step in the alleyways, every shriek in the skies. We were never truly gone.

July 15th – 16th is the Relay Weekend in Second Life. There’ll be events around the clock, and of course the whole track to run and explore. The opening ceremony is at 10 AM SLT on July 14th. Alia brought back a part of the Golden Delta for the track’s Imagine-region, and sooner than later I had to shapeshift to match.

An Unexpected Party

Today is the day. Today we celebrate one of our founders, a true visionary whose imagination shaped ours, whose dreams turned to life in vivid colours and sounds and emotions. 

Today we will hold a party in his honor, a tribute, a feast: a completely Unexpected Party, even! There will be food involved, and music, and fireworks.

Calling the Celebrants

We have been invited. Every year the invitation arrives, every year the curtains are drawn aside to reveal doorways, every year the Sound of Life rings in our silenced ears once more. It calls, it beckons, it pleads. Just like it always did. Just like it always does.

Each of us celebrates the return to the Land We Once Walked On. Some of us simply step through, others sail in with more impressive means, some slink and slither, some arrive with a bang. Some run through the streets screaming, some hiss softly in the passing October breeze.

It does not matter how we celebrate, what matters is that we all do. For one night, one glorious night a year, all the chains are broken and we are free. Free, and dancing amongst you.

The Gods of Sand, Stone and Gold

There is a place within the Fairelands made out of sand, stone and gold. It glows under the blazing sun, lazy breeze bringing in scents from the desert.

Sand swirls in patterns against the columns, an embrace of hot air surrounding the ancient stone, brushing against the hieroglyphs as to write its own story.

Gods form out of the heat: gods of black marble and gold, gods of desert and river, gods of life and death. They stand guard against the disruptions of time, their stone shapes wrapped in eternity.

There is a place within the Fairelands called The Golden Delta. Won’t you come over and visit?

The Other Depths

There are strange creatures swimming in the depths of OtherWorld. Creatures born as colourful as the world around them, camouflaged within the plants, breathing in same bubbles of magic as the plants fluttering within the currents.

They form symbiotic relationships with other creatures, embraces of friendship and support, each lending strength to another in ways the other does not possess. They do not garden, they nurture. For them life flows in one stream that each brings something unique to, for them there is no separation of self from the world, for them they are all one. For them all is life.

The Sun in Selidor

The Touch of Infinity

Infinity does not call. It does not lure or tempt like its cousin Destiny. It does not reach out, or set goals. It doesn’t consider itself to be a goal either.

Infinity simply is. It breathes, it feels, it exists. It connects. Thoughts, concepts, realizations, revelations. It has all the time in all the worlds, that is its nature. There is never any rush, for understanding and comprehension arrive in their time. In the right time.

Sometimes it even connects people in addition to their thoughts. It allows them to awaken each other, to feel that golden spark within, the light we carry, nourish and sometimes — too often — simply hide. At such a touch we feel the world shake, views change, life paths form. Old empires fall for inner revolutions, new foundations are built.

All for that brief touch of Infinity we can find in ourselves. That brilliant spark we can feel in the connection to others, the glow in the lover’s eyes, the peace of mind in natural silence, the mystery of our lives fully realized, if only for a moment.

The touch of Infinity centers us, it wraps around us like the comfort of nightsky, makes everything clearer, more focused, more meaningful. It gives us the gift of perspective, of time, of awareness. It breathes into us, within us, until we remember our small part of it. Remember and begin to nourish it again.

All of the above are separate quotes from the Finnish National Epic, Kalevala. I found its translation here, so couldn’t resist just locating the Mielikki quotes for this. To all the Forgotten Realms fans feeling confused right now: yes, Mielikki is an actual pagan Finnish goddess of the forest, her name (and several others) were just happily yoinked and applied into Forgotten Realms.

The gown that inspired me to envision her is another collaboration by Faida and Fallen Gods Inc. and it is available in The Conquest event right now. The hair by Wasabi Pills can be found in the same event. The fennec foxes by +Half-Deer+ are a gacha in Kustom9. Mielikki’s foxes should really be red and northern, but the fennecs didn’t take a no for an answer.

The Goblin Queen
