The Scarab of Infinity

When dryads grow old and the millennia wear them down, their joints creak and mind wanders, the Scarab of Infinity appears to them. It hovers near, almost out of reach, giving the wood spirits a choice: reach out for life or continue fading until the gradual degradation turns them into trees.

Many consider life a nuisance at that point, the pulse of the world feels too hectic and the peace of not being aware is tempting enough for them to simply smile and turn away, let their minds drift until it slumbers for good and the body slowly becomes a nearly normal tree.

But for those who still yearn for more, those who feel the heartbeat of the other lifeforms around them, those who do not want to give up the sense of wonder; they reach out for rebirth and begin the cycle anew all the more wiser.

52 Colours: Hunter Green

Obviously I had to make a hunter. The problem was in deciding what kind. This green is like the classic elven ranger colour, but I realized I was lacking a decent bow — shame on me. In the end I went into a completely different direction. I blame Ely’s evil necromantic plant girl in Guild Wars 2.

Perhaps she’s an evil dryad, perhaps she’s a spirit of carnivorous plants, perhaps she simply found a way to live in a symbiosis with vines, to stalk and observe from above before descending upon her prey… who knows. The actual hunter green item match is the swimming suit by Miamai that I grabbed from the sale going on at the moment.

The hair that really makes the look is by Curious Kitties and since it was their prize in the Crazy Hair Hunt, I’m not sure if it’s available anymore. It is super fun and appropriate, though. Especially since some of its tendrils move on their own. The eye makeup tattoo by Sn@tch is also an old hunt gift, so no guarantees on it either! The skin is one of the Glam Affair fantasy tones from The Arcade gachas.

The scenery is the dream scene called Hidden Cove by Garden of Dreams, perfect for urgent need for a jungle to pose in. The poses are all a part of a pole prop called Cirque Dreams by BENT. I used it as a convenient branch for this shoot, but obviously it’s meant more for dancing and circus style. It’s available in FAIR, which is a new event that opened today.

52 Colours: Wales

Wales is a green that to me looks like a child drawing grass with crayons. I was initially rather worried about finding anything in the right tone, but then out of nowhere (read: the depths of my inventory) I found this mini-dress by The Plastik to save the day! Even when I wore it as a top with pants by Somnia instead of a dress.

Today is Bandana Day, so if you haven’t yet got your bandana, Hair Fair has a handy booth in every sim. This particular watermelon bandana is by Curious Kitties. I made sure to match it with a watermelon noming bat by Pink Fuel and delicious basket of noms by Poche. The latter is available in Okinawa Summer Festival.

The Nasreen-skin by bilo was fittingly innocent to go with the summery relaxation and it seems I’ve been unable to get these Nostalgia-boots by lassitude & ennui off of Sonya, since she’s still wearing them.

Tekeli-li in Garden

Garden as in a sim of Hair Fair, of course, although now I am envisioning a garden created to fit his mindscape and am greatly entertained by this.  I spent today running around in Tekeli-li’s gorgeous sim and taking pictures of his new releases for the fair. If the inevitable first-day-of-fair lag makes you crash or all the fair sims are full, why not go and explore for a moment? There are rezable boats and hidden caves and wonderful twisted beauty all around!

This Alila-hair was irresistibly fantasy-oriental, speaking of sorceresses and women with lethal decorative pins in their hair. Oh, and also a knife! So convenient. If you are new to Tekeli-li’s hairs, the gems and all the decorations have an impressive variety of colours they can be and you control them with channel-commands. The hairs of course come with notecard details of all the possibilities.

Crystalic was clearly more refined, the classic fantasy lady. When I was playing around with her gem settings, I noticed something new. It’s now possible to set the gems (and only the gems) to fullbright for extra glow when taking fantasy pictures. It obviously can be set off as well for normal gliding about.

Pnom is one of the unisex tentacle-hairs fitting for aliens, demons or other creatures with various tentacles coming out of their head. It also has an eye lens in its decorations, giving it an immediate cyber vibe.

Eibon works for both genders as well, although I tattooed her rather girly here. I love the head tattoos that come with these, although obviously both would work perfectly well with a hairbase if shaved-bald is not your style.

Hsan is a part of the gift packet available in Hair Fair, along with ankh earrings, a tentacle mohawk hairdo and several decorative ankh chests. I’m using a hairbase with it, otherwise it would also reveal a part of the skull like the above unisex ones.

All the hairs are at least partially mesh, so do try the demos! Tekeli-li is located in Garden in Hair Fair. As for getting into the lag: detach all and wear a full body alpha (available in the Library). No prims, no scripts, easy invisible shopping!

52 Colours: Unmellow Yellow

This is one of those rare weeks where I struggled so much with both the look and the pictures that when everything finally clicked together for one picture, the others were so inferior in comparison that I cannot bare to have them accompany the good one. Just one picture for Miss Unmellow Yellow, who turned to be a sun fairy.

I found the colour matching fairy outfit from *Deviance* and the exotic alien plant is the latest group gift by the Booshies. This plant is scriptless and simply decorative, but apparently the real ones will grow food for the booshies to eat. Perfect for fairies to flitter around!

Keep Calm and…

…Keep Shopping! It’s a new event starting on 14th May. It’ll feature and concentrate on event exclusives, which piqued my interest.  We all love exclusives, after all.

The crown on these panties by ~Songbird~ randomly reminded me of Sweden, so I styled the shopping girl with blonde hair. I know, I know, feel free to faint now. The skin by EgoxentriKax was so tanned that it made me realize that the Swedes are really the Californians of the north. (Shyntae, if you see this: please don’t kill me!)

There’s plenty of furniture in the event, the chair and cabinet above by [Park Place], the couch, the teddy bear and the bed in the other pictures by (:::am dsgn:::). The awesome wall decals are by Wall Candy.

All the Hair!

The third round of Crazy Hair Hunt has begun! You can get a notecard with slurls and hints from the starting location to help you on the way. As before, these are less hairdos and more just crazy things to attach to your head. So much fun!

Lumi versus squirrel staring match go! …what? Meeroos can be fashionable, too!  The squirrel hair is by EMO-tions and the plant hairdress is by [M&K].

Here we have a rare Roocorn with branches sprouting all sort of fruit, thanks to Concrete Flowers. The green and purple Curious Kitties’ maneating plant growing out of Sonya’s head is completely safe for roos. Probably less so for men.

The theme of the hunt is Flora and Fauna, thus all the plants and critters and also fishies! Mer-roo has hair by Rue and Sonya by The U-Neek. I could go on, honest, but I’m trying to save some for later blogging. After all, the hunt does go on for the whole April.

52 Colours: Royal Purple

With a name like this it was obvious Miss Royal Purple had to be a queen. Evil sorceress queen, duh. Are there any other kind?

Of course I went to my Evie’s Closet folder for this. Luxuriously rich colours and all the style a fantasy queen could possibly want. Since I was lacking in crowns I went for a big hair instead. This one is an old Crazy Hair Hunt gift by Curious Kitties. Speaking of, a new round has just started!

I did find a cute crown by Violet Voltaire from my inventory! Too small for evil queens to wear, but just perfect to tempt mortals with. What would you give for it, pretty one?

Obviously I had to go all the way purple, so even the skin by Heartsick, lipstick by M.O.C.K. Cosmetics and the eyes and the mask tattoo by The Plastik are all purple as well. I tried to find a golden throne for her, but failed. In the end I took her to Athan because I knew I could trust in Alia’s elven builds to have the right vibe. And so they did~

Crystalline Ice

I had been planning to make a snow elemental post eventually, but when Alia Baroque of Fallen Gods Inc. dropped a review packet on me, that ‘eventually’ turned into ‘immediately’. Because seriously, how gorgeous are these?

Meet the Ice addition to the Crystals skin line: the perfect winter fairy! There’s even matching outfits in existence! This is extremely vital and important for Fallen Gods Inc.’s skins, because Alia’s work tends to look best on its own. I’ve had so many muttering moments when trying to match -anything- for modesty on them. I swear the skins laugh and mock and insist on staying nude and stunning. They are too gorgeous to hide and the texture work is always so amazing that covering them up with anything that wasn’t designed for them is practically a sin.

I had trouble deciding on the hair as you can see, so just imagine the fairy magically changed her hair before she began to dance! The first one is by Curious Kitties, the lower one is by Tekeli-li. The eyes are ghost ice eyes by n-creation. The first pose is one of the advent calendar ones by aDORKable Poses, but the two lower pictures are taken while dancing. The dance is Nina 6 by Akeyo, one of the wonderful ballet-styled ones.

As for the surroundings, that’s A Dark and Frosty Ride by The Fooding. Yes, it’s an ice carousel of spiders! You can get this marvelously glittery gothic plaything from the Gothmas by Gaslight Hunt.

52 Colours: Mulberry

We don’t have mulberries in Finland, so I had absolutely zero associations to go with this colour. Thus I just stared at the yet-another-sort-of-dark-pink-purple colour sample and poked at my inventory until I found things that matched. Behold, Miss Mulberry of Magic Muffin Land! Or some such.

I needed a colourful shiny magical place to take pictures in and ended up in The Looking Glass. The nom of choice to pose with is by Poche and it looks as delicious as their stuff always does. As for Miss Mulberry’s looks, it all started with this skin by Ello Poppet (an old hunt gift). It’s supposed to be a night elf, but all in all it’s just so appropriately happy-colourful that it was the perfect base for this. Adding Arachne-outfit by Bare Rose to it pretty much covered the whole spectrum of mulberries~

The absolutely insane hair is fittingly from one of the old Crazy Ass Hair Hunts, it’s by Curious Kitties. The eyes are by Insufferable Dastard and lashes by Redgrave. The look was actually easily accomplished once I found the right tones from my inventory, it’s like the outfit was meant to go with that skin. As much pink-opposed as I am, I find myself rather liking this combination.

Obvious windlight disclaimer is obvious: no, their rivers don’t run purple. I liked the effect, though, as well as the reflection as Miss Mulberry peeks into the stream. The poses in order are by Olive Juice, Croire and Niqotine Poses. This last picture made me want to look into downloading more water-settings, I should definitely play more with those. But for now I’m just encouraging you all to follow in Miss Mulberry’s footsteps and go explore pretty places, it’s good for your pixel souls~
